The Pawnee Nation is a proud tribe of Native Americans that have a long history in the mid-west and have faced many hardships. This project aims to strengthen them through the creation of spaces that encourage fellowship and the exchange of resources, knowledge and memories. In a time where the environment is becoming more and more harsh, they need innovative building systems to protect their everyday activities as well.
The use of structurally sound materials such as stabilized rammed earth and ferrock give the building added safety during earthquakes and help to keep a consistant temperature indoors. Gathering spaces like the amphitheater, market and inner courtyards provide spaces for the community members to socialize and perform ceremonies typical for their culture. Finally, education spaces found in the form of classrooms and a greenhouse give the community access to knowledge needed to improve their fi nancial state of being.

This twin-wall polycarbonate glazing, usually used for greenhouses, has a high performance low-e film applied to it to help keep the interior spaces at a consistant temperature
This method of construction, reminiscent of the original Pawnee home, usually consists of a sand, gravel, clay and concrete mixture that is compacted in a mold to make walls. Overall it has a high thermal mass and is structurally sound which can combat vibrations due to earthquakes.
The canopy structures, modeled after the pecan tree, are located throughout the market area. They are used to collect morning dew, collect sun power, and provide shade for those below.

The Cooney residence is 7,300 square feet under roof. It is a 3 bedroom and 4 1/2 bath house, including an office and workout room. The original design has a workshop on a partial lower level, but for the sake of this portfolio I chose to not detail that space.
I designed this home during my employment at Meritus Signature Homes. The owners’ daughter, who is an architect up north, designed a rough floor plan layout. From there, the owners and I refined the plans based on their needs and wants.
This project was originally drawn and developed in AutoCAD including floor plans, elevations, roof plan, and site plan, On my own time, I recreated it in Revit and rendered it in Lumion.

Mountaintop Church is located in Vestavia Hills, AL near Birmingham. This project was a mixture of renovation and new construction. It was also broken down into several phases which included the renovation of their student building which is part of a separate set of documents from the main church building shown in this portfolio.
The tasks I participated in on this project include: observing and note taking during all meetings pertaining to the project, modeling of the existing conditions, completion of the design development and construction document phases, and communication and coordination with consultants.
The drawings in this portfolio come from the construction documents set and Design Review Board submission all of which are stamped and owned by Equip Studio. Permission from the fi rm was recieved in order for them to be used in this document.
Genoa Studio - Team Professor Houayek

This project created a great opportunity to design something that brings a modern touch to Genoa’s harbor while not clashing with the pre-existing historic buildings like the Porta Siberia which is adjacent to the site.
This library was limited to 2,000 square feet, not including the outdoor balcony space. My partner, Brittany Holladay, and I also had to include an of fi ce, bathroom, and a 50 person multi-functional space.
