Hannah Goh here. This book is just a collection of throughts from my journey through Stern. These last two and a half years have given me the most amazing experiences of a lifetime such as:

London

Shanghai

- Living in the heart of New York City

- Journeying through Europe

- Immersing myself in China

Sitting here in UC04, I am reflecting about the wonderful opportunities Stern has offered me, I decided I wanted to tell you through a short little book. Here’s my Stern Story.

Adventure #1 New york, nY Start spreadin’ the news, I’m leaving today. I wanna be a part of it, New York, New York!

New York City had always been a mythical place that I could only imagine through movies and TV shows.I couldn’t believe that I was moving here to start a new chapter of my life. Therefore, during my freshman year, I tried to soak in all the opportunities NYU and the City had to offer. I joined the ultimate frisbee team and saw countless Broadway Shows, historic landmarks, and gorgeous sunsets. Guess what? I even went to Hilary Clinton’s election night HQ in November! I couldn’t ask for a better way to start of my college career.

I couldn’t believe I was giving away this beautiful concrete jungle for a whole YEAR to study abroad in London and Shanghai as part of Business & Political Economy.

Adventure #2 London, UK “Professor Dumbledore left ten minutes ago,” she said coldly. “He received an urgent owl from the Ministry of Magic and flew off for London at once.”

As a history and Harry Potter fanatic, I knew London was the center of everything.

Palaces, Platform 9 3/4, and fish & chips.

When I touched down in London for the first time however, I honestly didn’t have the best impression of the city.

After adjusting to the city and traveling to over 10 countries during my Fall 2017 semester, I learned to fall in love with London. My favorite experience was living with a host family in Northern Ireland and learning what the rural Irish countryside really felt like. However, I feel like my time there was short. I can’t wait to go back to London one day and reexperience the mystical aura of the city.

Adventure #3 Shanghai, China The rise or fall of Shanghai means the birth or death of the whole nation.

Chiang Kai-Shek’s words summarized the knowledge I learned in Shanghai. As much as Professor Foudy spoke about the economic prosperity of China, I didn’t fully understand it until living and studying in Shanghai.

While living in China, I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone by exploring places and activities that I have never felt comfortable doing before. For example, my friend and I hiked and camped the famous Huangshan (Yellow Mountain).

As someone who doesn’t dance, I even joined a Minority and Folk Dance class and performed at an art musuem at the end of the term.
