Hanken School of Economics in Finland is an internationally accredited leading university in the field of economics and business administration. Founded more than one hundred years ago, we are one of the oldest business schools in the Nordic countries.

OUR RESEARCH – OUR BACKBONE Research permeates all activities at Hanken. Within our selected areas of strength - Economics, Finance, Management and Organisation, and Marketing - research is conducted at an internationally pioneering level. Today, research at Hanken is conducted within our five departments and the competence centres associated with them. Our researchers are engaged in basic, applied and commissioned research. Hanken represents the Nordic type of business school where the ties between research and education are close, and where PhD education plays a key role. This is one of our hallmarks and something we value strongly.

Our students are encouraged to actively take part in classroom discussions and to challenge accepted norms. We believe that this plays an important role in developing critical and analytical thinking.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE All third-year students in the Bachelor programme have a semester abroad integrated into their studies. This can be completed as an exchange semester at another university or as an internship abroad. All students on all levels are encouraged to include a semester abroad in their studies. Our exchange policy also ensures that our students encounter international influences on their own campus. In addition to our international degree students, we welcome соме 150 exchange students a year to spend a semester or a full year with us. These exchanges give our students tools to prepare for a career in an international environment. More than 100 bilateral agreements with top universities, i.e. within the ERASMUS and Nordplus programmes and selected universities around the world ensures a wide range of high quality destinations for our students.
