The story behind Handmade LATAM Sustaining cultural heritage has been my passion for over six years by working with artisanal communities from Ecuador. Through this artisanal catalog, we hope to bring you closer to ten signature indigenous communities from Ecuador, who are looking to start a collaborative design-journey with international buyers. Ecuador is home to about 18 different indigenous nationalities, each with its own unique traditions and artisanal culture. Each handmade piece in this catalog is a manifestation of past and present that honors every artisan and their generations. In a time when travel restrictions and global health emergencies have influenced local economies, we are focused on preparing artisanal communities with tools and services that can help them stay connected to international buyers. This artisanal catalog is the result of a series of preparatory workshops where artisanal leaders strengthened their cost structures, revisited their production capacity and identified key ready-to-export pieces to represent their ancestral heritage. 3 aspects to keep in mind while you are exploring this artisanal catalog: •

Ancestral techniques: handmade techniques applied to natural fibers vary depending on the region they are located in Ecuador. Be mindful that these communities want to showcase their artisanal practices through the listed products to spark creativity for collaboration with designers or buyers.

Buyers Opportunities: artisanal leaders have spotted curated pieces that could be produced wholesale, for private labeling or any retail opportunities. .

Pricing: prices detailed on this catalog are wholesale prices where discounts vary by community according to the number of dozens placed. It also serves as a reference according to the listed products and it can vary according to dimensions or any tailor-made design that the designer or buyer needs.

Handmade LATAM provides tailor-made consultancy services to international designers, buyers and boutiques who seek the opportunity to work with remote artisan communities in Ecuador and support handmade and ethical practices . We are looking to generate a sustainable income for the future generations of artisanal leaders by helping them in the process of getting connected with buyers. This artisanal catalog would not have been possible without the support in part by the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI), a program of the Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the United States Department of State and implemented by IREX. As well as the Arizona State University (ASU) J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute for their contribution through YLAI in the promotion of this catalog. Finally, we would also like to acknowledge the support of 12PointFive founder-Liz Whitehead, as coexecutor of these workshops and catalog, as well as our main consultant for the international market growth of Handmade LATAM. Thank you for being part of this journey to keep preserving Ecuadorian artisanal techniques.

Sincerely, Catherine Perugachi CEO & Founder
