Technology Programs for Everyone!

Now patrons can hold the library in the palm of their hands! With a new mobile app, called MyLIBRO, Handley Regional Library System patrons have access to a variety of library resources through their mobile phones and tablets. The MyLIBRO app is already available through the App Store.

To access the app, patrons need to download the app and input their library card and PIN number. Please contact your local branch if you don’t have a PIN number or don’t remember it.

Through the app, patrons are able to search the library’s catalog and view materials, place items on hold, and view the event calendar.

The app will access digital content on Overdrive, allowing patrons to read or listen to books directly from this app. For digital materials available on Hoopla, the app will redirect to the Hoopla website or the Hoopla app, if already installed. The app also allows management of multiple library cards.

Tasha Tudor, A New England Legend: Living A Lifestyle Through Her Books Saturday, September 17 at 11 AM Handley Library, Robinson Auditorium In her books,Tasha Tudor portrays the lifestyle of a New Englander in the 1830s. Using her own four children as models, dressing them in Kate Greenaway style clothes,Tudor charms the readers with her quaint and romanticized life of that period. Cooking over an open hearth in a tin oven, wearing clothes fashioned in the 1830s style and refusing to succumb to having a television in her home, you will see that Tudor lived the life she wrote about and illustrated in her books. Stewart Bell Jr. Archives becomes a Family Search Affiliate.

Researchers in the Archives Reading Room can now enjoy expanded access to a wide range of genealogical records maintained by FamilySearch.

Please visit the Archives to learn more or email archives@handleyregional. org. A free FamilySearch account is needed to access the database.

Fall Used Book Sale October 11-15 at Bowman Library.

Hours the same as library hours. Preview night for Friends members only: Monday, October 10 from 6 to 9 PM. A huge selection of gently used books, children’s books, DVDs, CDs and more for sale. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. Proceeds will benefit all three branches of The Handley Regional Library System.

STEWART BELL JR. ARCHIVES TEMPORARY CLOSURE The Stewart Bell Jr. Archives will be closed for renovation of its storage area and installation of moveable shelving beginning Monday October 31st through Saturday, December 3rd, 2022. During this period, the Reading Room will be closed to researchers and staff will be unable to undertake any research or reproduction requests. Normal operations are expected to resume Monday, December 5th.

Friends Fall Bus Trip into DC Wednesday, September 28, 8 AM to 5:30 PM Join our annual fall bus trip into DC! The Varsity Travel Bus will depart from Solenberger’s on Berryville Avenue (Rt. 7) in Winchester and will leave promptly at 8 AM. The bus will also make a stop at Martin’s in Berryville for a pickup in Clarke County.You have a choice of one of these destinations.Your drop off and pick up point in DC must be the same. The bus will stop at: A) The DAR Library, B) The National Archives (appointments required for researchers), and C) The National Gallery of Art Depart from DC at 3 PM and arrive in Winchester around 5:30 PM.
