A brief note:
Coming up with a way to represent myself both professionally and personally within a few pages has proven to be quite a challenge. Just as all of us are more intricate than can be shown on paper, I hope you’ll understand that the images of these selected works are only part of each project’s story. Most were created collaboratively - many hands touched these drawings, many eyes critiqued them, and many minds and hearts were invested in how they were carried out. It’s been an honor to get to learn through collaborative building, to have such a variety of experience on all phases of projects, and to get to see so many ideas turn into reality.
And just like these projects, I am the product of many kind people investing in my education and future. I grew up in the Oklahoma metro area, and my time at Oklahoma State University as well as my time working as a professional
in Oklahoma City has shaped me into a woman of integrity, with a passion for serving people through quality design.
The past few years have been defining for me, as I’ve found my voice both in the design world and in my life outside of work. I’ve learned how to educate myself outside of school, as I passed (not without some lessons learned about failing) my architectural licensing exams. I’ve better identified what is important to me: living in faith and how to carry out God-honoring work no matter the setting, loving both those who are similar to me and those who are different from me, and choosing to be joyful in the everyday tasks.
It is my hope that my work would be representative of my values, and that the lives of the people I serve would be saturated with the richness of thoughtful design.
Thanks for viewing.
Hi, I’m Hana.

“We exist in a culture where heroes have been replaced by celebrities, and fifteen minutes of fame are valued over a lifetime of patient work. In this climate the architect must become a celebrity in order to gain the opportunity to build (or else must loudly proclaim a refusal to build in order to become established as a critical force). Those who do build tend to produce signature buildings designed to attract the attention of media and sustain the public’s focus, for under these rules architecture can only emanate from the hand of the name-brand architect. The built environment is strewn with these high-profile products - heroic gestures neither made nor commissioned by heroes.
What should architects do instead? A simple and direct response: acknowledge the needs of the many rather than the few, address diversity of class, race, culture, and gender; design without allegiance to prior architectural styles or formulas, and with concern for program and construction. We may call the result the architecture of the everyday...”

Scout Benefits Office
The Scout Benefits office resides in the eastern two-thirds of the 5th floor of the historic Pioneer Building in downtown Oklahoma City. The aim was to create a modern work environment that honors the ornament and details of the existing building without competing for visitors’ attention. Subtle details in the trimwork and tactile finishes throughout add a human touch that makes both employees and guests feel like they are in a work envrionment catered to the human experience.

The SHPO Condition to hold the ceiling back 36” from the exterior wall would create a visible plane change that did not historically occur. Because the relationship of the floor to the ceiling is not visible from the exterior ground level, a person would not be able to perceive the ceiling height from below. **Please also note that the crown moulding previously proposed for the Conference Room has been removed from the scope of this project and proposal in order to be more consistent with the historic experience of the interior space. Robinson Park Management Office and Studio
Robinson Park first moved into the Pioneer Building in December of 2019 but quickly needed to expand to add another floor in March 2021. The scope included a variety of different work settings: full-wall cubicles, private offices, and a design studio for the growing architecture and design department. The millwork was custom designed with open finger-pulls and fully-incorporated outlets for ease of use. The reception desk is also a custom piece and includes a backlit white oak logo panel that welcomes guests entering the office.

Oklahoma Tax Commission: Tax Resource Center
The Oklahoma Tax Commission occupies about 90% of a shared space with the Oklahoma Lottery in downtown Oklahoma City. The space serves as the bridge between the agencies and the public. It includes places to meet with tax specialists, the location for redeeming winning lottery tickets, motor vehicles processing location and a large call center. Overhead linear fixtures welcome visitors by connecting the exterior with the interior as soon as they approach the entrance. The Commission wanted the space to feel welcoming and accomodating to the public while maintaining timeless contemporary look.

Design Your Downtown
DYD was an event put on in conjunction with local Cushman Wakefield firm Commerical Oklahoma to learn more about what the downtown Oklahoma City workforce wants to see developed in and around their place of work. Guests were given vouchers to adjacent restaurants for lunch and ate together while brainstorming new and desired development for downtown Oklahoma City. Participants wrote in their own ideas on colorful notecards that were gathered and documented after the event.

EastPoint- NE 23rd Street Retail
Eastpoint is a revitalized “strip mall” located on the Northeast side of Oklahoma City. In an area that was historically rich with culture, Eastpoint is one of the first new developments in this area in 30 years. Our team removed one bay in the middle of the building to create a breezeway that runs through the entire site, connecting the parking south of the building with NE 23rd Street on the north while creating more “streetfront” tenant units. The developers of Eastpoint structured the proforma so that tenants have the option of ownership built into their rent, giving them an opportunity for long term equity in the area to which they are helping add value with their businesses. Our scope included both the core and shell aspects of design, as well as five out of twelve tenant spaces, and the build-out of one space. Local artists were employed in the graphic design of the facade pattern.

Together with videographer Weston Waugh at Stout Media (who I also happen to be married to!) we made a short film about Eastpoint that highlighted the partnership between architects, civic leaders, developers, and constructors who have worked together to create resilient and sustainable buildings and environments for communities. Our film won the Grand Prize in the AIA Film Challenge in 2019. It was an honor to get to hear the stories of the community members and to be a part of the growth and flourishing of northeast Oklahoma City.

Woodshed Coffee and Tea, OKC
Woodshed Coffee and Tea is a local shop in northwest Oklahoma City with responsibly-sourced loose leaf tea and single-origin coffee. Our team was responsible for both design and build-out of the space and worked with the owner to create a quality space on a limited budget. The shop is connected to Blue7, a local retail hotspot for Oklahoma City. Woodshed and Blue7 have a unique partnership in serving OKC patrons with local coffee and local merchandise.

Vanessa House Beer Co., OKC
Located in historic Automobile Alley in Oklahoma City, Vanessa House Beer Co. set up shop in their first ever brick-andmortar space in 2017. The existing building was a warehouse, previously used for storage. Our team worked to revitalize the space in a fresh way, and took cues from the bright VHBC branding. The garage doors and windows throughout allow the patron a glimpse into the brewery production area from any angle in the taproom, and the chartreuse stripe acts as a unifying band that ties the different spaces together and serves as a wayfinding tool for brewery tours.

Design Appetit is a fundraiser that serves the mission of local non-profit, Focus on Home. Guests and sponsors enjoy a 4-course dinner prepared by local chefs thoughtfully set at themed tablescapes designed by local artists and designers. These temporary rooms were assembled in approximately 48 hours. Our team’s design brought in elements of a garden party with a modern twist, themed “Elephant in the Room”.
