Parcel E is the last parcel that will complete the fan Pier master plan in the Seaport District. The shape tries to break from the orthogonal context that surrounds the site. During my involvement in this project I worked in coordination with my project manager to develop floor plans, core studies that evaluates energy and floor to area ratios. Throughout the schematic process, I was assigned to create folded panels that will work both as an aesthetic and shading devices around the building. In order to investigate the different possibilities, I began 3D printing FDM models and quickly shifted to resin Polyjet 3D printing on Stratasys because of the better quality of representation.

The digital fabrication process became really informative and essential for our presentations to both the client and the City of Boston. What was also very interesting to learn was the joint system that was required in order to assemble the model. I had to interlock my seperate pieces in order to bring them together

Working at Elkus Manfredi Architects taught me how to use digital fabrication as a study process in order to make decisions in coordination with the senior designer and project manager.

The intersection of both traditional and digital methods inspired greatly my decision-making capacity as a designer

rethinking the “core-shell” typology for interactive art

Interior Perspective

Similar to a core-shell structure, the immersive exhibit space is the central piece of this museum. It links structure, circulation, light, and shadow. The space is born from the same formal matter of the exterior skin (a square). It is however compromised and “imperfect” in order to reflect a different spatial and formal identity than its shell.
