SPECIALIST SUPERCARS, PERFORMANCE & CLASSIC CARS AUCTION HOUSE
FIRST CHOICE TO SELL YOUR PREMIUM VEHICLE
Hampson’s Auctions was founded in 2020 – but my family has been immersed in the specialist classic and performance car world since my great uncle founded Hampson Motor Sales in 1987 and my father founded H&H Classics in 1993.
WELCOME TO HAMPSON AUCTIONS
In 2020 I continued the family tradition, reviving the Hampson name. Over its first five years Hampson’s has gone from strength to strength, as we increasingly specialise in performance, classic and supercars, showcased through sales in our outstanding venues. Although our base is in the North West of England, we’re a global concern and sell to buyers all around the world.
In late 2024 we were proud to announce the launch of the Hampson Marketplace, a new way of selling online with Hampson’s, while also supporting a children’s charity, The Joshua Tree.
Our physical auctions at Bolesworth Castle and the Oulton Park Gold Cup, both in the heart of Cheshire remain a fabulous way for vendors to sell within the dynamic atmosphere of a live saleroom and now, with Marketplace, our vendors have an alternative and can choose the route which works best for them. We also announced a new association with the tremendously respected classic and supercar specialist, Iain Tyrrell, who previews our sales on his enormously popular YouTube channel Tyrrell’s Classic Workshop.

EXCEPTIONAL VENUES
The magnificent Bolesworth Castle near Tattenhall, Cheshire is a stunning location for any event. The Grade II listed country house, which dates back to the 1750s, sits amongst glorious grounds in a 6,500-acre estate. And, in the latter part of 2023, Bolesworth’s superb, 15,000 square feet event structure, located adjacent to the castle’s moat-side equestrian arena and overlooking the castle and the Cheshire countryside, became the magnificent new ‘home’ of our auctions – and an instant hit with our attendees.
The Oulton Park Gold Cup is one of the UK’s premier historic motorsport meetings, bringing two days of high octane classic racing and a fabulous retro mood to the Cheshire circuit each July. It forms an ideal and entertaining setting for a Hampson sale, with the added benefit that attendees can also enjoy all the sights and sounds of the track action.

ZACH HAMILTON Managing Director JONNY FRANCE Sales Manager
NATHAN JONES Auction Coordinator
Senior Events Organiser
Having grown up in and around the motoring world, classic and performance cars are very much in Zach’s blood. Zach’s uncle, Geoffrey Hamilton, founded Hampson Motor Sales in 1987, and Zach spent much of his childhood utilising what was at the time Europe’s largest classic car and investment showroom as what was also probably Europe’s greatest playground! His father, Mark, co-founded the auction house H&H Classics in 1993, and Zach accompanied him on as many valuation visits and auction days as possible.
Having been irreversibly bitten by the auction bug, Zach always dreamt of becoming involved in the classic car industry once again – a dream he achieved when he launched Hampson Auctions in 2020.
Jonny brings over 14 years of experience in the motor trade, having worked across main dealers, independents, and for himself before moving into motor trade recruitment. He spent a decade as operations manager for one of the UK’s leading recruitment agencies, honing his skills in customer relations and negotiation. A relocation to Winsford provided the perfect opportunity to apply his expertise to the world of classic, performance, and supercars. As for his dream car? The iconic McLaren F1, timeless in design and engineering excellence.
Nathan is the person who regular attendees at Hampson sales will have seen on the ground on sale day, making sure everything runs smoothly at Bolesworth Castle or the Oulton Park Gold Cup. Alongside his role with Hampson’s, he has for 20 years operated his own classic car business, offering everything from sales and storage to transportation, giving him an excellent understanding of the requirements of our clients and their vehicles. He describes the inhabitants of his own garage as ‘a mixed bag’ which includes a 1930s Austin Seven, a 1948 Lea-Francis and two 1970s Japanese cars, including a very early Colt which he has owned since he was 17 years old. He is also a great admirer of DB4 and DB5 Aston Martins, though has yet to add any to his collection!
While many discover a love for cars through glossy magazines or dream garages, Guy built his connection to the automotive world through action — working hands-on with some of the rarest and most valuable machines on the planet. What began as volunteering at the British Motor Museum soon evolved into a career supporting some of the UK’s most prestigious events, from Goodwood’s live broadcasts to the lawns of Salon Privé, and glamorous French châteaux where he hosts with his family race teams and prestigious clubs for the 24H of Le Mans.
Over the past eight years, Guy has played a key role in delivering exceptional automotive experiences for high-net-worth and ultrahigh-net-worth clients.

JAMES HAMILTON Motor Car Specialist
JAMES RITCHIE Motor Car Specialist
DUNCAN BROWN Auctioneer
HANNAH FEARON
Operations Manager & PA to the Managing Director
KAREN COE PR/Communications Manager
Much like Zach, James was introduced to the classic car world at a very young age. His father John was also involved in the original Hampson Motor Sales company, and he grew up surrounded by and with a great appreciation for all things automotive. James is a talented mechanic in his own right and, alongside his fiancée, owns and runs a working farm. His own car collection includes a classic mini, an MGB GT, and a very low mileage BMW M3 – and we strongly suspect that won’t be the end of it!
James’ role as a Motor Car Specialist means he is frequently out on the road visiting clients and valuing their vehicles. He is also heavily involved in the setup and presentation of all our auctions, and on sale days he can usually be found carrying out condition reports.
James brings to Hampson Auctions the experience gleaned over a career which includes stints with historic motorsport preparation companies – where he was able to put his university degree in motorsports to good use – and modern car sales with Volkswagen. One of the things he most enjoys is spending time talking to vendors about their cars and then being able to talk to potential buyers about those vehicles. Forming good relationships with clients is very important to him. As for hobbies, James is a keen traveller, who spent several months travelling in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Japan. Even then he couldn’t leave his love for all things motoring behind him – his adventures including driving a Gen 1 NSX around a Japanese mountain and riding a motorbike across Vietnam.
Anyone who has watched one of our auctions online or in the saleroom will immediately recognise our fantastic auctioneer Duncan. Growing up with a car enthusiast father, it’s no surprise that Duncan quickly developed a passion for all thing motoring related. Duncan brings with him 25 years of auction experience, having worked his way up to manager and auctioneer at his local car auction room, before taking the leap and becoming self employed as a freelance auctioneer.
Duncan has conducted classic car sales at many prestigious venues in the UK and abroad, including The Amelia Island Concours d’Elégance, The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Circuit of the Americas, and has also appeared on television.
Hannah is the highly organised and dedicated Operations Manager and PA to our Managing Director, who plays an essential role in supporting both the managing director and the wider team. With a keen eye for detail and a proactive mindset, she helps to ensures the smooth running of day-to-day operations. From handling administrative tasks to streamlining processes, Hannah’s ability to juggle multiple responsibilities efficiently is a key asset to the business.
Being highly qualified in Nursing, Psychology, and Sociology, Hannah brings a nurturing and caring personality to her role, helping to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
The daughter of a hugely enthusiastic car collector, Karen grew up surrounded by classic cars and is the proud owner of a unique 1973 Series 3 E-type with modified roofline, Rhoddy Harvey-Baiyley suspension and a host of other mods, as well as a 1981 MGB GT LE. She became professionally involved in the automotive world when she joined the PR agency run by Hampson’s late PR consultant, Gordon Bruce, who, she says ‘taught me everything I know’. At Gordon Bruce Associates she worked with a range of clients that included Duckhams, Clarion Car Audio, Volvo, Ford, the AA, the Silverstone Festival and a number of collector car auction houses – Christie’s Motor Car Department, Brooks, Bonhams and H&H.

FAQS
Whether you’re attending an auction for the first time or a seasoned professional, see our frequently asked questions.
What is the bidding process like?
Bidding is done in increments, and the highest bid at the close of the auction wins the car. You can bid in person, over the phone, or online, depending on your preference.
Are there any fees associated with bidding in your auctions?
Yes, these fees will be clearly outlined in the auction’s terms and conditions, at tis time they are 12.5%+VAT of the hammer price for cars and 15%+VAT for motorcycles and registrations.
Online bids made via The Saleroom or one of their subsidiaries incur an additional fee of 1%+VAT
If I scratch my head will the Auctioneer take it as a bid?
Our auctioneer is very experienced, he’ll know when there is a clear indication to bid. Don’t worry you’ll not be buying a Ferrari based on an itchy scalp!

We accept various payment methods, including cash (up to £8000), debit card and bank transfers. Payment instructions will be provided to successful bidders.
Can I consign my supercar, performance & classic car for auction with your company?
Yes, we accept consignments from individuals looking to sell their classic cars. Contact our consignment team for a complimentary, no-obligation valuation.

Do you offer shipping and transportation services for purchased vehicles?
We can assist with transportation and shipping arrangements for your newly acquired classic car. We work with reputable transport companies to ensure safe and secure delivery.
Are there any warranties or guarantees on the cars purchased at your auctions?
Typically, supercars, performance & classic cars are sold “as-is” without warranties. It’s essential to thoroughly research and inspect the vehicles you’re interested in before bidding.
What is the reserve price, and how does it work?
The reserve price is the minimum amount a seller is willing to accept for their car. If the reserve price is not met during the auction, the vehicle may not be sold.
How do I stay updated on upcoming supercar, performance & classic car auctions and events from your company?
You can subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on social media for the latest updates on upcoming auctions, featured cars, and special events.
Why not just sell through an online auction site?
Listing your car or motorcycle on one of the well-known auction sites might seem like an easy way of selling it. However, there are pitfalls, which you can avoid by selling through Hampson’s. We are the ‘gatekeepers’ between vendor and buyer, providing a hassle-free experience for selling your vehicle. We are here to facilitate the sale and to manage the sale process. By selling through Hampson Auctions, you don’t have to worry about opening your home to strangers for viewings or spend time chasing the highest bidder if they fail to pay and ‘disappear’ into cyberspace. You won’t have to haggle about price or condition, or fall foul of distance selling regulations if a buyer decides within a few days that the vehicle is not for them and returns it for a full refund.
