Bio. Hi, I currently attend Nottingham Trent University as a 2nd year studying Product Design (BA).

Excelling in both group and individual projects with a detail-oriented focus, I am capable of going the extra distance to complete set deadlines. Crucially, I take a serious approach to timemanagement, while enthusiastically combining an aptitude for the ideation process, a key aspect of product design.

Designing for Production Brief: Within this brief you are asked to explore the commercial home-ware market, developing a single or range of products specifically for sheet material manufacturing such as laser, water and plasma cutting.

Modular Shelving System Shelf system designed with a customisable layout. The colour scheme, inspired by the artist Mondrian varies according to consumer preference. The central theme of minimalism was kept at the forefront of this design in order to suit a modern household interior.

Sketch Ideation

The sketching process revolved around adjusting a modular system to a realistic outcome. Several initial ideas and development had structural integrity problems. These issues arose from the paths the shelving would follow.

Steel rectangular tubing attaches the shelving to the backboard and supports the sheet metal slats.

Wall anchor Heavy duty fixings to support the downward force exerted by the protruding shelving including the contents placed on it.

Brief: The task in essence is to reverse deconstruct and redesign a product that is deemed to be a bad piece of design.

Concept development

Concept Development Through the initial Ideas stage, the speaker designs evolved into a three part concept.

A triple layered tower that splits up into individual speakers which can then be placed around any room as long as they stay in bluetooth range.

3 White LED’s light up when all 3 speaker units are connected

LED tubes light up when speakers are linked to indicate connection.

Rubber flows round every outer edge to protect from impact.

Designing for a environmentally conscious user directed me towards developing a device capable of being repaired.

Smart glasses battery inserts into controller.

The device’s body is made from Zirconia ceramic, a durable and environmentally friendly material.

Environmentally, this projects theme of Connection stresses the importance of humans and nature remaining in harmony together through the current rapid advancement of technology.

Lotion stored in container

Turtle hide layer wraps around the bottom of the shell.

Soft sponge scrubber

When squeezed, body lotion pushes through the inside layer of the turtles shell into the second compartment, (the turtles belly) which is perforated and textured to allow for a comfortable and thorough clean for the skin.

Inspired by the recently extinct Yangtze Giant Soft Shell Turtle.

Fill up child’s scrubber with body lotion.

TurtleScrub Squeeze shell to push lotion stored in the middle through into the sponge.

Inflate shell by blowing into mouthpiece.

What is Post-natal Depression?

Post-natal depression is a type of depression that many parents experience after having a baby.

Post-natal depression can start any time in the first year after giving birth.

Symptoms include; trouble sleeping, persistant feelings of sadness and lack of energy.

Design Approach Designing a device to assist the afflicted through a comforting approach would ease a depressed mother or father.

Tech Jewellery became the decided design approach.

1 in 10 mums including dads are diagnosed with post-natal depression within a year of child birth.

Clasp located at the back of the neck uses a built-in reader to monitor health.

A ripple shape is a soothing texture to observe and feel.

Modelling

Bump textures became the theme for our soothing texture jewellery, primarily due to user feedback and aesthetics.

Two pieces of jewellery were chosen to bring forward to the final stages of design. The Ripple Ring and Pendant.

Both products embodied the initial visualisation of a design capable of soothing the user whilst being able to be worn by both male and female users as a fashion accessory.

App development An app was developed in conjunction with a product designed for reducing loneliness in users struggling with mental health.

Stress and mood can be tracked through the app, including a community chatroom where those affected can reach out to others and spread their knowledge and impact the feelings of loneliness experienced by so many suffering from PND.

Reader is hidden on the inside of the necklace clasp.

Neutral packaging created for an aesthetic look similar in fashion to the product.

The monitor seen to the left records heart beat changes throughout the day including sleeping patterns.
