Designing Exceptional Places

Wilson Architects is founded on ideas about creating positive experiences to place requires deep consideration to culture, landscape, climate & sustainability.

• We are collaborators bringing together designers, clients, artists and experts to develop practical ways to unite the built and natural environment. • We believe the quality of our surroundings directly influences the quality of our lives, be it in the workplace, at home or in our public spaces. • The integration of landscape and architecture is at the heart of all our design. We have been providing integrated landscape architecture for more than 50 years. • Our research informs our strategic thinking and is the basis for our ongoing design innovation. We believe sharing our research is essential to drive advances in education, laboratories and other sectors.

DEDICATED TO ONGOING RESEARCH We have been at the forefront of education design research for more than 20 years, and it is at the core of our design philosophy. We apply the findings from our research to all our projects from concept stage through to design and postoccupancy evaluation. This gives us a unique understanding and working knowledge of education design from the student and teacher perspective. We know what works, and we continue to fine tune and develop our strategies in line with the latest research. We played an integral part in a two-year, $200,000 research project with the Australian Teaching + Learning Council (ALTC) and the University of Queensland, which explored the interaction of pedagogy, space and technology. This research led to a new system of metrics that evaluates and designs learning spaces. Our other ongoing research projects track the shift in education design and master planning as they adapt to new pedagogies and technology. In 2021 we established DoubleURrsearch, a research and design studio which will work in parallel with WilsonArchitects and their clients.
