At our General Conference in 2010, a recommendation was approved by the assembly regarding an evaluation or review process for our churches and pastors. The minutes read, “An annual local church leadership and pastoral review [shall] be conducted for all affiliated churches and their senior pastor.”
One of the ways we have historically accomplished that over the last 15 years has been to have local church leaders fill out an assessment tool, giving feedback about the life, work, and ministry of their pastor. Toward the end of 2025, the Conference Superintendents and headquarters staff will be sending out that tool. This year, the Cabinet of Superintendents may move back toward the original wording of that resolution, asking that the church conduct a more comprehensive review of not only the pastor, but of the effectiveness of the church as well – that is, a self-evaluation of all that is happening. Some might call it a 360 degree review.
But in any case, we would all do well to evaluate our own commitment, and effectiveness, especially those of us who have been given authority and responsibility in the church. The great Apostle Paul wrote about the reality of the accountability we are under, as stewards and servants of Christ.
1 So look at Apollos and me as mere servants of Christ who have been put in charge of explaining God’s mysteries. 2 Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

Judy recently discovered an article written by Reagan Rose, the founder of “Redeeming Productivity,” which is a media ministry that helps Christians learn time management from a biblical perspective. The article was published as a trailer or lead-in to a series on productivity by “Focus on the Family” through its ministry “The Focused Pastor.”*
It’s a short, 5-minute read, and I recommend it as Biblically-sound, impactful, and straightforward. Thanks, Judy, for the lead. God bless you, pastors and leaders for your conscientious work for KING and Kingdom!

* ”The Focused Pastor” all began from the heart of one man who had a desire to be a pastoral advocate. Pastor HB London had been in pastoral ministry for 30 years himself and understood the unique challenges that the role placed on pastors both personally and professionally. He sought to serve pastors through his regular radio ministry called Pastor to Pastor, hosted numerous conferences for pastors and their families, and originated what is now known as clergy appreciation month. Today, The Focused Pastor stands on the shoulders of the work that HB London began, and it is our mission to come alongside you, your family, and the church through the resources, initiatives, and events that we produce just for you. ” (Quotation from: https://www.thefocusedpastor.org/about-us/)
