AlayaCare – A Smooth Transition, Thanks to You!

Since rolling out AlayaCare in April, we’re really pleased with how smoothly things have gone and that’s all thanks to you. We know change can be tricky, so we truly appreciate your patience, flexibility, and positive attitude as we made the switch from Procura.

AlayaCare is already proving to be a great step forward. The system is more user-friendly, more efficient, and ultimately helps us deliver better care while making your day-to-day tasks a little easier

Just a friendly reminder to our Support Workers: Don't forget about the Direct Messaging feature in the app It’s a great way to stay connected with the office and get quick updates Please make sure you have push notifications enabled on your phone so you don’t miss any important messages when you're not in the app

Thanks again for being such a vital part of this transition it wouldn’t have been possible without you!

White Oak pop-up clinics a success

We’re pleased to share the success of our recent pop-up flu jab clinics held at the Joondalup and Midland hubs. Over 30 White Oak staff took the opportunity to receive their free flu vaccinations – a great turnout that highlights our team’s commitment to protecting not only themselves, but also our vulnerable elderly clients

With another bumper flu season predicted, we strongly encourage all staff to take advantage of the government’s free flu vaccine program, available until the end of June. You can access the vaccine through participating pharmacies or your local GP.

Celebrating Billie – 100 Years Young!

We’re so lucky at White Oak to work with some truly incredible people and Billie is one of them Earlier this year, Billie celebrated an amazing milestone: her 100th birthday, surrounded by 92 family and friends, including her four children, nine grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren!

A lifelong golf lover, Billie played 18 holes into her 90s and remains a cherished life member of her local club She’s also been known to try a bit of parasailing her last ride was at age 70!

These days, Billie is happily living in her own home,

and for the past five years, our team has been proud to support her with shopping, meal prep, cleaning, and getting out to her weekly church catchups

Our Allied Health team has also helped make her home safer with ramps and a custom recliner.

Billie says she loves having White Oak carers visit—especially for the help in the kitchen so she can keep enjoying her home-cooked meals. For her family, our team provides comfort in knowing she’s well supported, both practically and socially.

Thank you to our amazing staff who make a difference in Billie’s life each and every day. Your care, kindness, and connection are what help our clients live with independence and joy Here's to Billie 100 years young and still going strong!

FarewellGlenys

After more than 13 years as a valued member of our Clinical team, we say a heartfelt farewell to Glenys Her warmth, professionalism, and unwavering dedication have made a lasting impact on both her colleagues and the many clients whose lives she has touched

Glenys has truly been an integral part of the White Oak family, and her presence will be deeply missed Thank you for everything, Glenys we wish you all the very best in your future endeavours!

We wish all our team members born during this month a most special birthday and wonderful year ahead.

SUPPORT AT HOME PROGRAM UPDATE

You might have heard some talk about the new Support at Home Program, which is set to replace the current Home Care Package and CHSP systems. We now know the rollout will officially start on 1st November 2025.

While we’re still waiting on all the finer details from the government, the aim is to make things easier for older Australians more straightforward services, better flexibility, and more support where it’s needed most.

Here at White Oak, we’re getting ready behind the scenes to make sure everything is in place when the changes come in And don’t worry we’ll keep you in the loop and make sure you have the info and support you need

Thank you for everything you do every day These changes are big, but with your continued care and commitment, we’ll help our clients make the transition smoothly. Stay tuned more updates to come soon!

Celebrating our NursesInternational Nurses Day

Last month, we celebrated International Nurses Day – a wonderful opportunity to recognise and thank the incredible nurses who are such an important part of the White Oak team.

Our nurses go above and beyond every day –offering support, compassion, and expert care to our clients and their families Whether it’s managing complex care needs, lending a listening ear, or simply being there when someone needs them most, their impact is felt far and wide

To all our wonderful nursing staff – thank you We see the heart and hard work you bring to your roles, and we’re so grateful to have you as part of the team

We’re so excited to welcome back two familiar and much-loved team members Sam Coombs and Rebecca Sheppard!

Sam was with White Oak for several years before heading off on some travels with her husband She’s now returned in an admin role, and we couldn’t be happier to have her friendly face and calm energy back in the office

Rebecca, who many of you will remember as one of our fantastic HCP Coordinators, has rejoined us as a Support Worker This role gives her a bit more flexibility, and we know our clients will be just as happy to see her back as we are.

Welcome back, Sam and Bec it truly feels like having family return!

STAFF

SPOTLIGHT ON...

Mien Brand

Support Services Officer - Midland Hub

If you’re a Support Worker in the eastern suburbs, chances are you’ve met Mien who is based at our Midland hub Mien’s friend nature and helpful manner are some of the reasons why she’s a fantastic asset to our team!

Can you tell us what is your role and what a typical day looks like for you?

As a Support Service Officer, and I can say that a typical day is filled with enjoyable moments as I assist our clients and complete admin tasks

What’s your favourite part about working with this team?

I really enjoy to speaking and helping our clients over the phone, meeting the Support Workers when they visit the office and feeling so grateful that I am a member of the HCP team, where I can gain more knowledge to grow. I love the way the HCP team take care of each other (just like a family).

What’s been your favorite or most memorable moment since you started? It would be the day that I went for my interview and I met all the members of the HCP team. It was then where I decided and believed that White Oak is the place I would like to work as well as being able to help my professional career growth.

What do you like to do outside of work when you have some free time? I love being with my family, especially with my daughter Ava, as well as my parents. My parents have recently arrived for a visit and they will stay with me for couple years. We usually go to our usual café, restaurant and park.

If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go and why? I would go back to my country to visit all my relatives and my close friends, as I have not had the chance to see them for about 5 years

What’s the best movie or TV show you’ve watched recently?

Since becoming a parent I don’t have as much of a chance to watch TV! All of the shows in my head are my daughter‘s favourite shows such as Cocomelon and other ABC kids shows!

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

My family

VillaDalmaciaDayCentreUpdate

It’s been a wonderfully busy few months at the Villa Dalmacia Day Centre, with our clients enjoying a full calendar of activities and special moments.

One of the highlights was a fun outing to local favourite, North Lake Chinese BBQ restaurant, where everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and great company It was extra special as we celebrated several birthdays on the day – including a very special milestone for Mrs Passalaqua, who turned 90 and generously treated everyone to lunch! There were plenty of smiles, full bellies, and stories shared around the table

Back at the centre, creativity was flowing during our recent Bunnings incursion. Our clients rolled up their sleeves and got involved in a hands-on craft session, making beautiful wooden trays to take home or gift to loved ones. It was a lovely opportunity to engage in something practical and rewarding – and we’re still admiring the handiwork!

One of the most cherished ongoing activities continues to be our multigenerational visits with the children from Sparrows Early Learning Centre. Their latest visit brought joy, laughter, and lots of energy into the centre, as clients and children played games together, shared stories, and connected across generations These visits are a firm favourite and a beautiful reminder of the importance of connection at all ages.

As always, we’re so grateful to our dedicated team for making Villa Dalmacia such a vibrant and welcoming place The continued engagement, variety of activities, and strong sense of community are a testament to the incredible work you do.
