Research

Born in Rutland, Vermont, in 1804, John Deere was orphaned at the age of four when his father disappeared at sea. Raised by his mother, he displayed exceptional craftsmanship and creativity as a blacksmith in his youth. In 1836, amidst the economic downturn in New England, Deere migrated to Illinois, where he set up a blacksmith shop in Grand Detour, following the footsteps of fellow Vermonters.

Upon his arrival, Deere quickly grasped the agricultural challenges faced by local farmers, particularly with the inadequacy of cast-iron plows in the Midwest’s sticky soil. Determined to address this issue, he crafted a plow using steel salvaged from a broken saw-blade, envisioning a solution that would effortlessly shed soil as it moved through the fields. The demand for such a self-scouring plow was so intense that hundreds gathered to witness Deere’s innovative product being tested.

Recognizing the burgeoning potential, Deere immersed himself in the manufacturing of plows, which not only became his passion but also his livelihood. By 1848, he relocated his expanding enterprise to Moline, Illinois, strategically positioned along the Mississippi River, providing access to essential resources and transportation routes.

Under Deere’s leadership, the company thrived, producing 1,000 plows annually. Renowned not only for the quality of his products but also for his unwavering principles, Deere laid the foundation for a business ethos that endures in Deere & Company to this day. Central to his ethos was a steadfast commitment to delivering only top-notch goods to customers.

Moline, Illinois, nestled along the picturesque Mississippi River in the heart of the Quad Cities, exudes a unique blend of industrial history and modern vitality. Once a thriving hub of farm implement manufacturing, notably as the home of John Deere, Moline has evolved into a diverse community with a range of industries including technology, healthcare, and education. The city’s riverfront offers scenic views and recreational opportunities, complemented by parks and trails that enhance the quality of life for residents. Cultural attractions like the TaxSlayer Center and the John Deere Pavilion add vibrancy to the city, while educational institutions such as the Moline-Coal Valley School District and Augustana College contribute to a strong sense of community and pride. Moline’s rich heritage, combined with its forward-looking economy and commitment to quality of life, makes it a compelling destination in the Midwest.

ROOM INDICATORS/SIGNAGE

Illuminated indicators and wayfinding integration help your teams and guests quickly locate rooms. Scheduling panels outside rooms and in-room signage display availability and schedule. Check in to your meeting with just an RFID badge scan.

A distinct feature we loved about these was the indicators. Green lighting and screens on the tablet means the rooms are open, but red means there us a meeting in place. This stops unnecessary opening of doors, interrupting meetings and allows for people to have the rooms to themselves!

-Reserve room from your phone using Microsoft Teams

-Confirm the room numbers and send emails to all attending

-Shows rooms availability and cleanliness

Conference Rooms - Training Rooms - Presentation Rooms - Mothers Room - Labs - Wellness Rooms

OFFICE INDICATORS

We plan to use these over/ next to all office doors to allow to employee to change the color depending on if they need to be alone or in a heads down get to work mood (RED) or, if they are open for visitors or to talk (GREEN)
