Haileybury Rendall School is located in Darwin, the capital city of the Northern Territory, Australia. With a vision to be a great world school, we warmly welcome students and families from the Asia Pacific region into our community. Our guiding principle of every student matters every day is lived out in our Boarding environment for students in Years 7-12, where students are supported to feel safe and cared for whilst living and learning away from home.
Haileybury Rendall School is well regarded for its high standards, being recognised at the Australian Education Awards as Boarding School of the Year (2022), Regional School of the Year (2023) and with Excellence Awards for Health and Wellbeing Programs and again Regional School of the Year (2024).
Developing and maintaining a strong academic culture where learning is our core business, is top priority. Our excellent academic results consistently rate us as a leading independent school. Our 2024 Year 12 results were some of the best on record with 26% of students achieving an Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking of 90 or above, placing them in the top 10% of students in Australia.
Pastoral care is at the forefront of everything we do. We aspire that all of our students leave school excited and prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, having made the most of their learning opportunities. We are guided by our Health and Wellbeing Framework, which guides us to ensure students are safe, well and happy, with strong connections to others and leadership opportunities.

The boarding experience
Facilities
Boarding at Haileybury Rendall School is a ‘home away from home’ — our boarding facilities are designed to be comfortable and allow for a variety of activities to occur that encourage strong connection and a sense of belonging. are tailored to the age and stage of development of the child and are focused on their wholistic needs.

Our dedicated team of experienced, professional and highly trained staff work closely with students so they feel safe and supported whilst studying away from home. Male and female staff are always on duty, and overnight staff are there to look after our boarders. Additional wrap-around support is provided by our counsellors, nursing staff, external GPs and allied health providers. Daily academic study is supported by teachers, and there is frequent communication between Boarding and the day school.
Students are accommodated in modern, light and bright twin share or single rooms. All bedrooms feature a single bed, study area, ample personal storage and air conditioning. Students are encouraged to make their space feel like their own.
Boarders share their meals in the dining room, Mayoema. Meals are provided by our caterers and are designed to meet the healthy eating and dietary needs of students. Each boarding house also has kitchen facilities where students can make snacks and engage in fun cooking classes with staff.
Communal spaces help to create a relaxing and fun environment where boarders feel at home and can enjoy their surroundings. Outdoor areas encourage social interaction and students can play sports such as basketball, volleyball, football, gym, and swimming in our onsite pool.

Activities
Living at Haileybury Rendall School is an exciting and immersive experience. There are a range of activities designed to engage and challenge. From breakfast to lights out, we encourage students to foster respectful relationships, to make the most of their study opportunities, and discover the local Darwin environment.
Our boarders are able to experience many new things in the Northern Territory. Our extensive program of afternoon, evening and weekend activities, includes club sport, off-campus excursions such as movies, markets, ice-skating, shopping, nature-based activities and more.
Boarders can also take advantage of in-school opportunities such as performing and visual arts, outdoor education, music, House activities and leadership workshops.
Scholarships
The Principal may offer scholarships for students keen to become boarders and achieve excellence in academics, arts, music, and/or sports at our unique and wonderful school.

The support from House parents and weekend activities made it easy to stay connected to my culture. That was important because it made it me feel more comfortable being away from home.
