“ We provide a holistic education that balances academic achievement with the development of character, resilience and leadership.”

Haileybury Malta is the culmination of an exciting project to address the need for more international school places on the Maltese islands. Following in the footsteps of Haileybury UK, we provide a rigorous and challenging British education to pupils residing in Malta.

Our school offers an unmatched opportunity for talented pupils who wish to embrace the challenge of pursuing academic excellence, gain fulfillment through developing lifelong skills, excel in a broad range of co-curricular activities and make a valuable contribution to our global community.

Our educational journey takes place in Mtarfa, high up on a hill overlooking the island of Malta. Our state-of-the-art campus will ensure pupils have a wealth of facilities and opportunities to follow their dreams and aspirations.

From kindergarten through to VIth form, a Haileybury education helps provide pupils with the skills and experiences needed for a happy and fulfilling life.

With an initial student population of just 50 pupils when we opened in 2023, pupils, the school will grow to a final capacity of 800.

Teachers are employed primarily from countries where English is the mother tongue.

A broad range of extra-curricular provision ensures pupils are able to explore their talents and passions outside of the classroom.

Pastoral care and support is a focus, with targeted Wellbeing sessions for pupils across the school.

All pupils are a member of one of our four houses: Angelo, Chambray, Elmo and Rocco.

In its first year of operation, the school catered for prep school age pupils (Year 3 up to Year 8). Haileybury Malta will follow the English National Curriculum to begin with, starting with the Early Years Foundation Stage programme for our youngest pupils, and then progressing through the various Key Stages. Additional challenging enrichment is interwoven throughout the curriculum in order to extend and enhance pupils' academic progress.

In the senior school, which opened the following year, pupils study towards the IGCSE qualifications.

Academic Programmes

Haileybury UK will support the Maltese school at all points of the implementation of the project and especially with the accreditation process.

Prospective Families and Future Boarding

Expats living in Malta as well as Maltese nationals are warmly welcomed as pupils to our school. Haileybury Malta serves the ex-pat community and local families seeking a British international option in the country.

Our boarding accommodation, which will open after the main school, will ensure continuity of provision for diplomatic or expatriate families.

Haileybury Malta will be a natural choice of school for both expatriate families looking for a British education, or for local families seeking a British international option for their child.

Educational Structure

The curriculum is only one part of a Haileybury Malta education. Our enrichment programme will take pupils' learning far beyond the basic curriculum, ensuring they develop a range of skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, study skills, empathy and caring for our environment.

The Educational environment of the school is based on the British education system.

Governance

Haileybury Malta has a Governing Body made up of 10 Governors, from both Malta and Haileybury UK, who offer the essential guidance in supporting the Educational structure and development of the school.

Haileybury UK

Haileybury UK is a successful traditional British independent coeducational school. It is situated on an historic 500-acre campus 20 miles north of London.

The international alumni network and four sister schools in Kazakhstan and Bangladesh form part of the global Haileybury family.

Haileybury sees its future as part of an internationally expanding group of schools, where Haileyburians are members of its global family for life.

A key part of Haileybury’s philosophy is about empowering each child to follow their passion and to build their self-confidence. In this regard, Haileybury provides an enormous range of co-curricular opportunities, spanning from Music and Drama to Sport and Physical Education. Haileybury also provides a variety of clubs and societies to cater for all interests.

Co-curricular Provision

Haileybury will offer co-curricular activities such as conservation, chess and coding. Music and performing arts will be central, together with a varied and stretching programme of Drama, Dance, musical recitals and performances. Pupils will be encouraged to take responsibility and to participate. We believe the cocurricular programme broadens minds, develops leadership skills and promotes teamwork. It is the development of these and other valuable skills which will best prepare our pupils for life beyond the School.

At Haileybury, the importance of sport is recognised as a vehicle for healthy living, as an opportunity to engage in and learn from competition and as a means in itself for fun and fulfilment. Team sports for all include rugby, football, hockey, tennis, athletics and swimming. Above all else, our pupils will have the opportunity to enjoy sport, regardless of their experience or ability.
