I am currently seeking a Part 1 position to pursue my ambition of becoming fully qualified. I define myself as an inquisitive and articulate individual, who acknowledges that nothing can truly be mastered. There is always more to learn, a new perspective or different approach to consider. I have found that I am able to adapt to various applications and I am technically proficient in them, whether it be AutoCAD or BIM apps such as Revit. Alongside this, assisting on interior design work in Sri Lanka also improved my understanding of liveable space.

Through various works and personal travel, I recognised that the individual experience, is the core of the human schema. This mindset has, in turn, influenced most of my design narratives as they focus on socially responsible architecture

Consisted of group sessions with mentor from Emporium Architects, where the dynamics of architectural firms were taught and understood

Holiday Air- Remote Travel Agent: This role required me to work in a team, often having to liaise with travel agents and colleagues to ensure customer satisfaction.

Administrative work: 2019-2022

I have worked part time under GGE ltd, a currency transfer business. I assisted in filing, cataloging, letter typing and responding to client calls. In doing so, I have become proficient with Office applications such as Word and Excel.

Perfume Distributor on behalf of Federico Mahora: 2020- 2022

Skills in sales, marketing as well as one to one client consultation regarding the perfumes was essential with this as it was self-led. This experience also forced me to adopt additional admin work to ensure that the orders were delivered to the correct clients.

Private tutoring: 2018-2022

I tutored children undergoing SATs and GCSE. This has allowed me to develop organization and communication skills as I had to plan what content and how it would be taught.

A response to the H2O brief, a modern Bathhouse

T H E T R I B U T A R Y BA Year 3 Semester 2

Liverpool was the birthplace of the 19th century Wash-house. A scheme that introduced communal hygiene to the public, allowing for a space where people could visit to clean themselves as well as their clothes and belongings. Bathing was seen as a commodity rather than a necessity until these establishments were introduced. In honour of these previous establishments, The Tributary will be a modern bathhouse, inspired by those found and utilised by previous civilisations such as the Ottomans, Romans and the Japanese.

It also takes inspiration from it’s programmatic concepts, promoting leisure, spirituality, health, hygiene and act as a space for social interaction. Hence the modern apothecary, is incorporated into it’s concept, where people can receive treatments that are tailored to their needs. As it overlooks the Mersey River, the building itself is designed to reconnect people with the river, subconsciously drawing the attention of the general public. the bathhouse is a place where people can relax, socialize, engage, and practice self-care in what was once known as the most industrial area of Liverpool. The key views from the baths as well as it’s holistic programmes attract people towards a lifestyle that encourages a work, life and leisure balance. The building materials reflect the natural resources found in Liverpool.

Inside, the bathroom features vary; plunge pools, steam rooms and saunas as well as showers that emulate torrential rain. Visitors can choose to bathe alone or with friends and are encouraged to do so. Additionally, the bathing facilities the bathhouse also offers a range of self-care services, such as massage and yoga, and meditation, there are also study and learning, with books and resources, available on topics such as local ecology, sustainability and history.

“Architecture can’t force people to connect; it can only plan the crossing points, remove barriers, and make the meeting places useful and attractive.” Denise Brown Scott

This project aims to design a timeless social hub that the opportunity to connect and socialize. It also aims to reinforce the freedom of human expression through art and design, allowing lot of opportunity to learn and explore the potential of Art. The aims of iris insight range from the most interactive to the independent which is reflected in how the proposal’s floors are orientated. The Lower floors consist of more social spaces, enjoying the outdoor gardens as well as food stalls. The floors then progress to slightly quieter environments where there are interactive learning spaces, then into floors that consist of independent study and an art gallery. The highest floor, the furthestfrom the bustle of the lower floors consists of exhibition spaces that can be modified through the years.

The Iris Insight concept revolves around the need for knowledge, understanding and the freedom of expression to achieve a thriving community. It consists of spaces to eat, drink, learn and enjoy art through a museum that is located within it. All of these spaces are determined by temporary structures on each floor, that can be moved and altered over the years. This allows spaces to change and adapt it’s purpose depending on how the community believes is best. The design of Iris Insight lead to much of the design concept to focus on “in-between” spaces and the kinetic capacity (Rolex Learning Center, Sanaa Architects) of space rather than the predetermined elements of design. The initial ideas consist of appreciating Iris Insight as a new building in the city that invites people to appreciate the change of eras and to become a “gateway” to a social and creative hub that thrives on the understanding of changing times. To further enforce this, the façade will adopt the remaining ruin of the previous building that once stood before World War Two.
