Friday 22 September
AutumnTerm
I hope you are all well and have had a great week – despite the wind and rain. However, I have been told we are to expect a heatwave next week!
As you know, we were incredibly sad to say goodbye to Mr Barnett last Easter and Mr Williams in July. However, we have a fantastic new PE and Games team; I am sure you may have heard your son talking about Mr Gillard or Mr Miller. To find out a little more about Mr Miller, our new Head of PE and Games, read his introduction a little later on.
We are looking forward to kicking off our Rugby season next week with fixtures for both Year 5 and Year 6, both held at Home, which is great as it means I can hopefully go along and cheer on our teams. I love watching these matches as they not only showcase the incredible talent and teamwork of our students but also highlight the values, we hold dear at Habs.
At Habs, we place a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and integrity in sports. These values go hand in hand with our commitment to fostering a sense of community among our students. We believe that participating in sports is not just about winning; it's about the way we play the game and the values we uphold while doing so.
As parents, you play a vital role in reinforcing these values in your children. We have high expectations for our young athletes' behaviour while playing sports on the pitches during Games, as well as the playground. It is essential that they display respect for their opponents, coaches, and referees, as well as demonstrate self-control and fairness at all times.
One of the unique aspects of sports at Habs is our dedication to inclusivity. We firmly believe that every student, regardless of skill level, should have the opportunity to represent Habs and feel proud of their contributions. It's not just about the star players; it's about the collective effort and unity that defines our teams.
We encourage you to support your child in this exciting journey. Emphasise the value of teamwork, respect, and fair play both on and off the field. Let's work together to ensure that our sports fixtures are not just about victory but about instilling lifelong values in our students.
Have a great weekend, and I will hopefully see you out on the pitches, cheering on our Habs teams, soon.

As we approach the winter months and the weather becomes colder, please can you ensure your son has all the correct P.E and Games kit, especially the Habs waterproof jacket and trousers. Whilst the Habs branded hoodie is not part of the official school uniform, we do understand that many boys have them and want to wear them. Please may we reiterate that they can only be worn during Games and PE lessons and should not be worn during the school day, including under their blazers. Once the old uniform has been phased out, boys will not be able to wear hoodies in school at any time.

To help with this, we ask that you please send in photos of people who are special to your child. Your child will draw and annotate around the photos and present/discuss their page with the class.
