Head of Prep School’s message

May I begin by expressing my gratitude for the supportive messages I've received since stepping into the role of Acting Head of Prep and Pre-Prep.

A heartfelt thank you to the parents who joined us for the Year 3 and 4 PLT Tea and Coffee afternoon on Monday. These informal gatherings are always enjoyable, providing a chance to discuss school-related matters. We eagerly anticipate meeting with Pre-Prep and Year 5 & 6 parents in the upcoming weeks.

In the wake of St. George’s Day last week, I am pleased to announce that we raised an outstanding £760 for WaterAid. This contribution will significantly support their efforts in providing clean water and sanitation globally.

On Wednesday, Mr Brendan Grufferty led an assembly in recognition of 'Mental Health Awareness Week,' occurring from 13-19 May. We were encouraged to identify and acknowledge our emotions, recognising the various nuances of our feelings. Mr Grufferty emphasised the importance of acknowledging our emotions and the necessity of open communication about our thoughts and feelings.

We recently hosted our annual Deputation Day, during which visitors from the Haberdashers’ Company visited our campus to observe the school in action. Our guests departed inspired by the exceptional work happening here, particularly impressed by our students' willingness to engage in challenging discussions and strive for excellence.

The week concluded with the uplifting class assembly by 3TP and the Pre-Prep Young Musician of the Year event. 3TP's assembly centred around the theme of 'Smiling' and the joy it brings, echoing the sentiments of the Pre-Prep YMOTY event on Friday afternoon. We are incredibly fortunate to have such talented students in our community, each demonstrating remarkable confidence and presence in their performances.

As always, our leadership team remains available for any discussions or queries.

Wishing you all a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend.

Pupil Safety

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

It has come to our attention that following dismissal at 3:30pm, several children have been observed running ahead towards the car park unaccompanied by an adult. Additionally, many children have been seen running along the track designated for grounds staff vehicles, posing a significant safety hazard.

It is imperative that all Parents/Guardians ensure that their children keep to the designated footpath and remain by their side when walking to and from the car park. The safety and wellbeing of our Pre-Prep pupils is our top priority, and we sincerely request your cooperation in order to prevent potential accidents.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration in maintaining the safety of our school community.

Habs in Conversation:An Evening withAshley Blaker Tuesday 7 May 2024

A 'Normal Schmormal' Evening with Ashley Blaker (OH 1993)

The Habs’ Elstree Schools’ Foundation is delighted to invite you to Habs in Conversation: An Evening with Ashley Blaker (OH 1993) on Tuesday 7 May. The event will be held from 7 to 9:30pm in the Bourne Hall, Habs Boys School.

Ashley is an acclaimed stand-up comedian, writer, and TV and radio performer, as well as a long-time friend and collaborator with Matt Lucas (OH 1994) on projects including Little Britain.

He is the author of a new memoir entitled Normal Schmormal: My Occasionally Helpful Guide to Parenting Kids with Special Needs. Ashley and his wife are parents to six kids, half of whom have special needs ranging from autism to Down's syndrome. In newspaper interviews and podcasts he doesn't just sound cheerful about it all – he can make you feel downright jealous of his family life.

Ashley will be on stage with Executive Principal Gus Lock (OH 1994), who will chat with him about his family, his new standup tour, life at and after Habs, and more.

The evening will begin with a drink's reception at 7pm. The on-stage conversation is expected to start at 8pm, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. The event is free, but booking is required. Please reserve your space here

Habs in Conversation is an occasional series of on-stage interviews with prominent members of the Habs community. Highlights of our Habs in Conversation with John Vincent (OH 1990 and Katie Derham) are available here

Collaborative Cricket Festival
