Head of Prep School’s Message

Welcome back to the final half term of the 2022/23 academic year. I hope you and your families enjoyed a restful break and made the most of the glorious sunshine whilst it lasted.

There have been two monumental moments in the Prep School this week. On Tuesday we officially opened the Pre-Prep building. With current staff, former staff, governors, Haberdashers and the design and development team invited; and musical performances from Pre-Prep, Prep and the Senior School, it was a true celebration of the whole of the Prep School, Reception to Year 6, finally being together on one site. Then on Wednesday, the first ever Values badge was awarded to a Pre-Prep student. These four values play a pivotal role in the character and values development of our students and guide them towards a bright and successful future in which they can have a profound impact.

Ambition is the fuel that propels our children towards their dreams and aspirations. We want them to dream big, set goals and work diligently towards achieving them. The Prep School is a pivotal stage where they begin to discover their talents and passions. We must nurture their ambitions, instilling in them the belief that with hard work, dedication and perseverance, they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. Courage is the virtue that empowers our children to take risks, step outside their comfort zones and embrace challenges. As they encounter new subjects, complex concepts and unfamiliar experiences, we encourage them to believe in their abilities and face obstacles headon. Let us instil in them the courage to persevere, learn from their mistakes and grow stronger with each setback.

Community forms the heart and soul of our school. Together, we create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. We encourage collaboration, empathy and respect among our students, fostering a sense of belonging that empowers them to thrive. By actively engaging in our school community, we lay the foundation for lasting friendships, shared accomplishments and a network of support that extends far beyond the classroom walls.

Curiosity is the driving force behind all great discoveries and innovations. We want to cultivate a deep sense of wonder and a thirst for knowledge in our children. The Prep School is a time of exploration and inquisitiveness, where we encourage our students to ask questions, seek answers and engage in critical thinking. Let us foster their curiosity, for it is through curiosity that they will unlock their full potential and become lifelong learners.

Wishing you a fantastic weekend.

Habs Boys Summer Fair – an update!

Thank you to all those who have brought in their filled pots for the tombola. They look absolutely fantastic. If you have your pot still at home, we are collecting as many as possible so please encourage your child to fill them up and bring them in to reception. If your pot never made it home (or was broken) you can use any plastic pot you have and we will try and leave some extra ones at Prep reception next week. On the day of the fair, all these pots will be prizes on our tombola.

Separately, we will very shortly be collecting any books (in good condition) that you would like to pass on for our second hand book stall and also any used sports equipment for our second hand sports equipment stall. If you have used tennis rackets, footballs, rugby balls, cricket bats, hockey sticks, etc, keep them for the Guild and we will announce where to drop them off shortly. Thank you to Years 3 to 6 for helping us run some stalls on the day of the fair. Your class reps are pulling together a list and we are truly grateful for all your support. If you have registered your interest with the Guild email address to help, we will be in touch with you very shortly

Finally, tickets for the inflatables and stalls will be on sale shortly, alongside raffle tickets and our silent auction.
