We are delighted to be holding our inaugural Habs Elstree Schools’ Environmental Sustainability Conference. The day will challenge thinking and cement how personal responsibility is everything when working collectively for a greener future.
We invite everyone to share ideas, thoughts and feelings throughout the day to ensure we can create as much impact as possible.

Robin will explore what a 2 degree world could look like as he delves into the importance of this decade and the cascading effects that could occur. The influence of the food industries impact on sustainability will be discussed and how large companies can make a positive impact. Robin will share tips and tricks on staying level headed and maintaining a stubbornly optimistic approach to sustainability.
How important is food when discussing sustainability?
The majority of a restaurants carbon footprint comes from its food. Food connects to each one of your eco-school themes. The food system can be detrimental to the environment and health and wellbeing but also has the opportunity to have the opposite effectnutritious, delicious food grown in a nature friendly way. Join Holly as she discusses how the hospitality industry has an opportunity to improve our impact on people and planet.

Sustainability In Construction –Building A Greener Future.
Join Ted as he explores the UK’s route to becoming net zero and how to construction industry is playing their part. Ted will explore various topics such as building energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, the importance of using sustainable materials and green building standards. Ted will shed light on ways everyone can play their part and gives us a glimpse into the future of sustainable construction.
How can businesses save the world - and what you can do to help them?
Laura will talk about the success of her ethical and sustainable business and about the rise of the ethical consumer and how business and economic drivers are already driving change such as rapid adoption of green technologies such as solar panel. Laura will also discuss what the students can do to become more informed consumers - and how they can vote with their wallets to make the change they want to see in the world.
Rebecca will introduce the impacts of climate change on travel and tourism and its effects on travellers. She will emphasise the urgency of taking action and outline specific measures needed from the tourism sector, highlighting initiatives by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). Rebecca will delve into WTTC’s collaborations with some the world’s largest and most influential travel brands and destinations, highlighting the council’s current priorities and projects. She will share practical steps travellers can take to support sustainable change.
