ASKE, BOURNE FOYER & SELDON

The Piano Festival was new to our calendar last year, it is an event that runs through the school day, culminating in a concert of our finest pianists in the evening. The aim of our Piano Festival is to include as many students as possible, as well as to celebrate some of the incredible pianistic talent we have here at Habs. The day begins with an organ recital at break time, followed by lunchtime performances in three venues across the school giving a stage to students of all ages and abilities. After school we welcome a special guest pianist who will first give a masterclass focusing on the piano in chamber music, before then performing alongside our most accomplished pianists as part of our recital evening.

Their musical voices are diverse and far-reaching, but united in their sincerity and ambition. Stylistically, there is truly no bound as we have writers whose passions span across genres. SELDON HALL

Being a part of a chamber music ensemble is one of the most exciting opportunities for any young musician. It celebrates teamwork over the individual and allows students to take ownership over their own performance. We have some tremendous groups at Habs, from String Quartets, Piano Trios, through to Wind Quartets and Brass Groups. This concert will encompass a wide range of ambitious repertoire, giving stage to some of our most skilled and dynamic performers.

SELDON HALL

Returning to our calendar this year is the hugely popular Guitar Festival Concert, an evening that celebrates the wonderful community of guitar players we have here at Habs.

We are lucky to have one of the biggest Guitar Orchestras in the country, led by the inimitable Ursula Galuszka, they are an ensemble not to be missed. Performing alongside will be solo performances and chamber groups, a fantastic evening of music from one of our most vibrant instrumental groups.

Orchestral Concert

SUNDAY 26 MARCH - 6PM

ST JOHN’S SMITH SQUARE

This concert is the major orchestral showcase of the year, and one of the highlights of our school calendar. Having given outstanding performances of Brahms and Bruch in the Autumn Term our combined Symphony Orchestra will be working with guest conductor Björn Bantock to present a programme including Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture.

We are delighted to take this concert to the historic St John’s Smith Square, a beautiful venue for what will be a memorable evening.
