Uploading Documents to Complete healthcare.gov Applications
HAAM musicians: thanks so much for re-enrolling in HAAM for 2017 member benefits! When healthcare is organized through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), some people need to complete document uploads to healthcare.gov in order to validate the identity, immigration status, or income estimation projected on 2017 Marketplace applications. • HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED TO UPLOAD DOCUMENTS? Marketplace eligibility letters (see the example to the right) indicate whether or not individual or family insurance consumers need to provide documentation to healthcare.gov applications. If your eligibility letter reads, “ACTION REQUIRED” (as below) at the top, then you need to provide further documentation the healthcare.gov staff to verify one or more parts of your application.
* If you’re not sure how to access your Marketplace Eligibility letter, see step 5b in the section below titled “HOW DO I UPLOAD DOCUMENTS.” • WHY DO I NEED TO DO THIS? In order for the tax credits that help ACA consumers pay for health insurance to be permanent over the course of the coming year, consumers need to make sure their healthcare.gov applications are complete. If we fail to provide documentation to complete healthcare.gov applications, then three months after their application dates, ACA consumers lose access to their tax credits, and their insurance plans become unaffordable.
