How can I keep up to date with my child’s progress?
We feel students perform better when their parents take an active role in their education. The sixth form hold parental consultation evenings and issues student progress reports. You will also liaise closely with sixth form Heads of Year throughout your student’s journey within our sixth form.
“Students in the sixth form can study a wide range of mostly academic qualifications. Sixth-form students, are extremely well prepared for future study or employment.”

The Advantage Schools Sixth Form is located over two campuses on either end of the town, which means there are plenty ways to get to them, from bus to bike and train to on foot. Our cross campus buses run throughout the day to make sure students are able to attend the best fit subject for them in either campus.

Your tutor will follow you through your two years of the sixth form and will take a holistic view of your education. They will track your progress carefully and will write your reference for any university or job applications. It is, therefore, important that the relationship you build with them is a positive one. During morning tutorial time, you will have the opportunity for class discussions on topics such as current affairs, student finance, post-18 options, and exam preparation. You will also have regular 1:1 tutorials with your tutor which is a great opportunity to perhaps to talk through a recent report, your university application or to discuss your progress in lessons.
As a school based sixth form, we are much better placed to ensure you have the skills you need for success in the workplace and can personalise these around your needs and aspirations. We encourage all our students to undertake leadership development work - a key skill sought by employers. At Advantage Schools, you will have numerous opportunities to do this, whether it is through our paid employment opportunities, volunteering with clubs or in lessons, organising events as a member of the student leadership team.
Welcome to Advantage Schools, a high-performing family of ten schools across Bedfordshire.
Our trust unashamedly believes in high attainment. Our schools seek to transform the life-chances of the young people in our care. We do this through very high expectations – of behaviour and conduct, of hard work and of determination and perseverance – alongside the very best knowledge-based curriculum.
A broad curriculum places pupils in a strong position to question and debate the world around them, making them intellectually resilient and prepares them for citizenship in a democratic society. We believe this is a right of all pupils and one which is empowering.
We also pride ourselves on the additional opportunities available to pupils outside of the classroom. Our extensive extra-curricular programmes include residentials, sports and music so that we develop fully rounded young people.
Our schools work together to provide your child’s teachers and support staff with the best possible training. In partnership with families, we work hard to ensure that pupils have the widest possible opportunities in their lives.
