Una scuola tradizionale come tante.

Molto diversa dall’H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL… Perché qui, fin da subito, non solo nel nuovo campus che verrà, bambine/i, alunne/i, studenti e studentesse scopriranno che imparare è una attività interessante e divertente.

Si addentreranno in materie nuove.

E apprenderanno quelle tradizionali in modo diverso. Saranno aiutate/i a scoprire se stessi e il loro talento.

Cresceranno a misura delle loro capacità e senza discriminazioni di genere. Acquisiranno le capacità per avere successo in un modo nuovo, che sta iniziando ora, ma che a poco a poco cambierà completamente i nostri modi di vivere, di produrre, di interagire.

La nostra International School è un parco dove germogliano i talenti.

Dove si seminano creatività, inventiva, curiosità. Dove ad ogni bambina/o viene data la possibilità di sviluppare tutto il suo potenziale. Lo facciamo in lingua inglese e attraverso le nuove tecnologie e il digitale. Attraverso una didattica innovativa che integra i percorsi dell’International School con moderni sistemi di insegnamento che sfruttano tutte le potenzialità che il digitale ci mette a disposizione.

Stiamo costruendo un nuovo campus, un ambiente bello, accogliente e unico dove studiare, crescere a realizzare i propri progetti. Un luogo unico dove si imparerà immersi nella natura, dove la formazione incontrerà l’impresa, dove coabiteranno studenti/esse e giovani imprenditori/trici, alunne/i e startupper, studenti/esse e manager di grandi aziende. Un ponte che collega la scuola alla realtà. Nel nuovo campus, realizzato a fianco di H-FARM, la H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL troverà infatti la sua collocazione definitiva.

Nel frattempo, vogliamo costruire assieme a voi una scuola moderna, interessante e innovativa nei contenuti. Già dall’anno scolastico che inizierà a settembre 2016. Oltre al programma formativo tradizionale, accompagneremo infatti bambine/i e ragazze/i verso nuove opportunità di studio. Attraverso i Digital Native Season Lab (con 8 tematiche differenti, dalla robotica al coding, dalla programmazione di videogame, al graphic design, passando per il mondo del maker); e attraverso i Digital Afternoon, incursioni nello storytelling con l’iStop Motion Lab e il laboratorio sul fumetto digitale; fino ai Family Day per imparare a conoscere regole, limiti e opportunità di rete, apps, strumenti digitali assieme ai propri genitori.

Lavoreremo per insegnare in modo diverso la matematica e la storia, la geografia e le lingue straniere. Per dare, mano a mano, agli allievi/e dell’H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL nuovi strumenti di apprendimento, nuovi metodi, nuovi percorsi, molto più flessibili e a misura di alunno/a.

Ormai la scuola tradizionale non basta.

Per questo nasce H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, la scuola trasformata dal digitale e da una forte vocazione internazionale, non solo nella lingua, ma soprattutto dall’introduzione delle novità didattiche provenienti da tutto il mondo. Nella H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL il futuro è adesso.

THE NEW SCHOOL. INTERNATIONAL, DIGITAL, CREATIVE. Think of a traditional school.

Desk, quizzes, homework. A traditional school like many. Very different from the H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL...

Because here, from the start, not only in the new campus that is under construction, kindergarten kids to university students will discover that learning is an interesting, entertaining activity. They will involve themselves in new subjects and learn the traditional ones in a different way. They will be helped to discover themselves and their talents. They will grow to the limits of their capacities and without gender discrimination. They will acquire the skills needed for success in a new way, which is just beginning, but which little by little will completely change our ways of living, producing and interacting.

Our International School is a park where talents bloom, where creativity, inventiveness and curiosity are sown, where each child is given the opportunity to develop his or her full potential. We do it in English and through the new digital and other technologies, through an innovative teaching method that integrates the program of the International School with modern teaching methods that exploit the full potential of digital technology.

We are building a new campus, a beautiful, friendly, unique study environment where students can grow to realize their projects, a unique place where they can learn amidst natural surroundings, where their education leads to a professional career, where they will live among young entrepreneurs, startuppers and managers of large companies – a bridge connecting the school to the real world.

In the new campus, built alongside H-FARM, the H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL will find its permanent place.

In the meantime, we want to construct together with you the contents of a modern, interesting and innovative school already during the school year that will start in September 2016. In addition to a traditional education program, we will guide our kids toward new study opportunities.

We follow a different itinerary for teaching Math and History, Geography and Foreign Languages, gradually giving the students of the H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL new learning tools, methods and approaches that are much more flexibleand personalized.

The traditional school is no longer adequate. It is for this reason that H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL has come into being, a school transformed by digital technology and a strong international focus, not only as regards language, but above all by introducing teaching innovations from all over the world. In the H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, the future is now.

La filosofia e la didattica della H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL trovano la propria ragion d’essere nel “Profilo dello studente” così come immaginato dall’International Baccalaureate Organization di cui siamo membri.

Il “Profilo dello studente” trova il fondamento nella Mission dell’IBO e definisce le caratteristiche degli studenti del ventunesimo secolo: attivi e capaci di affrontare scelte e assumersene la responsabilità e pronti ad interagire in un contesto internazionale.

CONOSCITORI Sviluppiamo e usiamo la comprensione concettuale grazie all’esplorazione della conoscenza in maniera trasversale alle discipline. Ci sforziamo di capire problematiche e idee il cui impatto produca effetti locali e globali.

The philosophy and teaching of the H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL finds its raison d’etre in the “Student Profile” as envisioned by the International Baccalaureate Organization of which we are members. The “Student Profile” has its basis in the IBO Mission and defines what characterizes students of the twenty-first century as their activeness and ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them and in their readiness to interact in an international environment.

L’International Baccalaureate Organization è un’organizzazione senza fini di lucro fondata nel 1968 per promuovere una cultura di tipo internazionale attraverso l’uso di nuovi metodi educativi. Basandosi sulla ricerca in ambito educativo in tutto il mondo, l’IBO ha sviluppato tre diversi programmi di insegnamento per vari livelli di apprendimento di alta qualità, che mirano a sviluppare le capacità intellettive, emotive, sociali e di autonomia personale di ogni allievo. I tre programmi sono: il Primary Years Programme (PYP) della durata di cinque anni, il Middle Years Programme (MYP) della durata di cinque anni e il Diploma Programme (DP) della durata di due anni.

The International Baccalaureate Organization is a non-profit organization founded in 1968 to promote an internationl type of culture through the use of new educational methods. Based on research in education around the world, the IBO has developed three different teaching programs for various levels of highquality learning that aim at developing the intellectual, emotional, social and personal autonomy of each student.

The three programs are: the Primary Years Program (PYP) for a 5- year period, the Middle Years Program (MYP) for a 5-year period, and the Diploma Program (DP) for a 2-year period.

H-International School è una scuola autorizzata all’insegnamento del Primary Years Programme dal 2008 e del Middle Years Programme dal 2017. La scuola è oggetto di ispezioni regolari da parte dell’IBO al fine di garantire che gli standard per l’applicazione del programma vengano rispettati e mantenuti.

Attualmente tutte le visite ispettive sono state superate con successo.

H-International School is an authorised school for the Primary Years Programme since 2008 and the Middle Years Programme since 2017. The school is subject to regular inspections by the IBO in order to guarantee that the programme’s principles are respected and carried out. Currently, all inspection visits have been successful.

The mission of the H-International School is echoed by the didactics of the IB: to form individuals who are able to reflect on themselves and the world around them from an international viewpoint. Citizens of the world.

2.2 E.C.I.S. L’ECIS – European Council of International Schools – è un’organizzazione senza fini di lucro che si occupa di fornire servizi ai propri associati, i quali si impegnano a promuovere l’internazionalità attraverso l’educazione scolastica.

Seppur di natura diversa, le scuole associate all’ECIS sono tutte accomunate dagli stessi valori e dagli stessi principi. Si impegnano ad un trattamento etico di tutti i membri della loro comunità ed offrono un’educazione che va incontro alle diverse necessità dei propri studenti e alla promozione di una visione internazionale fra tutti i membri della comunità.

L’H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL è costituita da due sezioni: PYP e MYP. La sezione PYP è a sua volta suddivisa in due parti.

SCUOLA PRIMARIA La scuola primaria, già nota come scuola elementare, consta di cinque classi, una per ogni anno: SCUOLA DELL’INFANZIA Le nostre classi di scuola dell’infanzia vengono chiamate la Early Years Unit.

Abbiamo tre classi:

Ogni classe ha la propria insegnante.

The H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL is made up of two sections: the PYP and MYP. The PYP section is in turn divided into two parts.

KINDERGARTEN Kindergarten, called Early Years Unit, is made up of three classes:

THE SUBJECTS ARE TAUGHT IN ENGLISH OR ITALIAN, WHILE FOREIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION IMMEDIATELY EMPLOYS THE TARGET LANGUAGE. THE SUBJECTS ARE AS FOLLOWS: (GO TO PAGE 31) Every class in the school has their own classroom as well as access to the communal facilities such as the gym, hall, art/science/technology room, computer suite and libraries.

La sezione di scuola dell’infanzia svolge un programma attivo, basato sul gioco, che viene pianificato secondo le strutture del primary years programme dell’international baccalaureate.

I bambini possono frequentare la scuola dell’infanzia dall’età di tre anni, mentre la classe reception può essere frequentata dopo il compimento del quinto anno di età. Il passaggio in prima elementare avviene quando il bambino ha raggiunto l’età e lo sviluppo adeguati per il passaggio al successivo ciclo. Se vi fossero posti disponibili ed in presenza di un bambino autonomo ed in grado di usare da solo la toilette, è possibile considerare la sua ammissione a scuola anche se avesse solo due anni e mezzo all’inizio dell’anno scolastico.

Per noi è fondamentale offrire ai nostri bambini un ambiente sicuro, positivo, allegro, stimolante, dove crescere con fiducia, imparare ad affrontare i problemi della vita e scoprire l’ambiente che ci circonda.

I bambini sono guidati attraverso attività pianificate e di gioco libero.

Essi vengono incoraggiati ad esplorare, a scoprire, a parlare delle loro esperienze e sentimenti. Molte delle attività sono basate sull’arte e forniscono l’opportunità di creare dei lavori che vengono poi portati a casa oppure esposti all’interno della scuola. Verrà valorizzato e gratificato il lavoro di ciascuno.

THE EARLY YEARS UNIT (HONEY BEES, BUSY BEES AND RECEPTION CLASSES) The early years section of our school delivers an active, playbased curriculum that is planned according to the structure of the international baccalaureate primary years programme.

Children join the early years unit at the age of three and they remain in the unit until they are old enough to join year 1 of the elementary section. If numbers permit and the child is independent and toilet trained, entrance to the early years unit may be considered for children as young as two and a half.

Of utmost importance to us is the provision of a safe, positive, happy and interesting environment in which the children can grow in confidence, begin to solve problems and find out about their environment through first-hand experience.

The children are guided through a combination of carefully planned and prepared activities as well as free play. They are gently encouraged to explore, discover and talk about their experiences and feelings. Many of the activities are art based and provide regular opportunities to create work which is proudly taken home or displayed around the classroom or school. We value the contributions that the youngest children in school make to our environment.

All’interno di classi accuratamente strutturate abbiamo cura e considerazione per le necessità e gli interessi di ogni singolo bambino. Gli insegnanti incoraggiano l’indipendenza e l’autonomia dei bambini e lavorano al fine di far prendere loro coscienza delle necessità e dei sentimenti degli altri.

Siamo coscienti che per i primi anni di vita scolastica per un bambino sono fondamentali e riconosciamo che, se si sente al sicuro, felice e stimolato, avrà meno problemi nella sua futura vita da studente.

Within the carefully structured situation that our classes offer, we take into consideration a child’s individual needs and interests. We encourage a certain amount of independence and autonomy and work towards the children becoming more aware of others’ feelings and needs.

We see the first years of a child’s life in school as of paramount importance for laying the foundations for their future learning and recognize that if a child feels secure, happy and stimulated at the beginning of their school life then, many potential problems could be avoided later on.

Come stabilito dalla nostra visione della scuola, ci impegniamo a preparare i bambini a vivere in una comunità in costante e rapido cambiamento.

Vogliamo che i nostri studenti siano curiosi, creativi, collaborativi, riflessivi, e in grado di comunicare in due lingue.

Crediamo che il modo migliore per raggiungere tale obiettivo sia di offrire ai bambini un programma che abbia consistenza, costituisca una sfida e sia fonte di motivazione per un effettivo apprendimento. A tal fine, il nostro programma di scuola dell’infanzia e scuola primaria viene pianificato in base ai principi del PYP dell’International Baccalaureate Organization.

AN INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM: THE PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME As stated in our school vision and aims, we are committed to preparing children for life in a rapidly changing global community, we want our students to be curious, creative, collaborative and reflective as well as being able to communicate in two languages. We believe that the best way to achieve this aim is to offer the children a curriculum that is relevant, challenging and motivating, and to deliver it in a way that requires them to become effective learners. To this end, our programme in the Early Years Unit and the Elementary School is planned and delivered according to the principles of the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation.

The PYP combines the best research and practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experiences from international schools to create a relevant and engaging educational framework for all children.

The PYP focuses on the growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic welfare. Durante l’arco dell’anno scolastico gli studenti affrontano un’attività di ricerca per ogni tematica interdisciplinare (4 per le classi Honey Bees e Busy Bees).

La scelta dell’argomento specifico, oggetto della ricerca per ogni tematica, viene fatta dal corpo docenti per incorporare i contenuti previsti per ogni classe dalle linee guida del programma ministeriale italiano, per evidenziare la progressione negli anni e per facilitare l’acquisizione da parte dei bambini di conoscenze rilevanti ai fini della loro educazione. Un’attività di ricerca ha una durata che va da 4 a 6 settimane.

Poiché noi desideriamo che tutti gli studenti abbiano accesso al programma, al di là del loro modo di apprendimento o della loro abilità linguistica, utilizziamo una varietà di metodi di insegnamento.

Attraverso un’attenta pianificazione, forniamo una varietà di esperienze di apprendimento, che permettano al bambino di sviluppare le caratteristiche del “profilo dello studente”: lavoro di gruppo, lavoro autonomo, ricerca attraverso internet, ricerca in biblioteca; questionari, manipolazione di artefatti, visite a musei, a gallerie, a teatri, a ristoranti, a fabbriche e nell’ambiente locale; visite da parte di persone famose nella comunità; esperimenti pratici e dimostrazioni; condivisione di idee e risultati di ricerche con i compagni e col resto della scuola, in modo da coinvolgere diverse modalità espressive.

Over the course of a year the students engage in a unit of inquiry for each theme (4 units for the Honey Bees and Busy Bees classes). The focus of the unit is chosen to incorporate elements of the Italian ministerial programme, to show progression over the different age groups and to facilitate relevant and meaningful inquiry. A unit of inquiry will normally last 4 to 6 weeks.

As we wish for all students to have access to the curriculum, regardless of their learning style or language ability, we use a variety of teaching and learning techniques. Through careful planning we provide a range of learning experiences that allow the children to develop the attributes of the learner profile: working in groups, working independently, research using the internet, research using the library; questionnaires, handling artefacts, visits to museums, galleries, theatres, restaurants, factories and the local environment; visits from various people in the community; practical experiments and demonstrations; sharing ideas and findings with each other and the rest of the school. The children will therefore demonstrate their understanding in a variety of different ways.

Materie come la matematica, la lingua (sia italiana, sia inglese) e l’educazione fisica vengono insegnate non solo attraverso le unità di ricerca ma anche con lezioni a sé stanti. Laddove possibile, tuttavia, vengono fatti collegamenti fra le abilità, i concetti e le nozioni acquisiti durante le unità di ricerca e le materie di cui sopra.

Questo tipo di approccio, infatti, rinforza e consolida l’apprendimento avvenuto per le altre materie.

Gli obiettivi di lingua e matematica sono quelli propri del programma PYP ma contemporaneamente sono del tutto in linea con le indicazioni nazionali italiane. Gli obiettivi per ogni classe vengono illustrati ai genitori da parte degli insegnanti alle riunioni di presentazione che si tengono ad inizio anno scolastico.

The subject areas of mathematics, language (both English and Italian) and P.E. are also taught through stand alone lessons throughout the week. Wherever possible however, connections are made between the skills, concepts and knowledge being explored in the unit of inquiry and these subject areas, as this approach strengthens and consolidates learning in both areas.

The objectives for mathematics and language are based on those set out by the PYP and are in line with those of the Italian state programme.

The objectives for each year group are shared with parents at the beginning of the academic year.

La nostra scuola secondaria condivide i valori e gli obiettivi del resto della scuola.

L’obiettivo che ci proponiamo è quello di fornire un’educazione di tipo internazionale e allo stesso tempo di garantire gli elementi essenziali delle linee guida della Scuola Secondaria di primo grado, affinché le abilità e le conoscenze dei ragazzi procedano parallelamente, formando così persone riflessive e creative, che divengano validi membri delle comunità internazionale ed italiana.

Il programma della scuola secondaria è fondato sulla flessibilità del pensiero e sull’apertura agli stimoli ambientali, per far sì che curriculum italiano, lingua italiana e lingua inglese, con il complemento della lingua spagnola, creino una sinergia formativa in cui conoscenza ed espressione si coniughino in un percorso di crescita.

Alla nostra scuola secondaria seguiamo il programma IBO Middle Years Programme. Si tratta di un programma le cui indicazioni metodologiche ci permettono di soddisfare le richieste del

THE MIDDLE SCHOOL Our Middle School shares the beliefs and values that drive the rest of the school. We aim to deliver an international education and at the same time provide the essential elements of the Italian State Curriculum in such a way that skills are developed alongside knowledge, and the children become thoughtful, creative and valuable members of the International and the Italian community.

In our Middle School we follow the IB Middle Years Programme. It is a programme whose curricular framework allows us to meet specific Italian State, provincial and national educational requirements, while maintaining the IB mission and philosophy. It emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging our students to find connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the world in which they live. In doing so, we aim to encourage critical and reflective thinking and the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global awareness.

These are the qualities which will equip our students with the essential skills for life in the 21st century.

LEARNING OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM

Nella scuola secondaria diamo ai ragazzi diverse opportunità di imparare anche attraverso esperienze in prima persona e visite didattiche.

Gli studenti assistono regolarmente a rappresentazioni teatrali in lingua inglese, spagnola ed italiana, visitano le mostre nei musei locali e vanno in viaggio di istruzione a Crespano del Grappa (TV), in Inghilterra ed in Spagna.

Da molti anni, inoltre, i ragazzi di scuola secondaria vengono coinvolti nel Festival del Cinema per Ragazzi Ciak Junior.

In the Middle School we provide various opportunities for the students to enhance their learning with first hand experiences and educational visits. There are regular theatre visits for productions in English, Spanish and Italian, visits to exhibitions in the local area and residential trips to Crespano del Grappa (TV), the UK and Spain.

ORARIO Le attività didattiche si svolgono in orario antimeridiano e pomeridiano.

L’orario è ripartito su cinque giorni, escluso il sabato, di trentacinque lezioni settimanali da cinquanta minuti ciascuna. Le lezioni iniziano alle ore 8:30 e si concludono alle 15:30; all’interno della giornata ci sono due intervalli: 11:00-11:20 ricreazione e 13:00-13:50 pranzo e seconda ricreazione.

TIMETABLE Lessons are carried out in the morning and in the afternoon. There are 35 sessions of 50 minutes each, divided by five days - Monday to Friday.

The development of language involves learning about language, learning through language and using language with others in everyday situations.

This interlinked process is developed by means of a wide range of language learning situations across the school.

Expectations are realistic and time is given for children to learn and feel confident in both languages. Children are encouraged to speak and use English around the school as much as possible. Their attempts to communicate and make themselves understood are highly valued and positively received.

Teachers support the learning of language by creating a language rich environment, modelling correct usage, and encouraging and promoting the correct use of language.

LANGUAGE SUPPORT Through differentiated teaching, a practical approach to teaching and learning and, if necessary, more focused language support, we are able to cater for students with a wide range of language backgrounds and needs.

In the Early Years Unit bi-lingual teaching staff help the children understand and adapt to their environment, whilst supporting the development of English and Italian.

La scuola è in grado di provvedere alle esigenze di studenti con background linguistici diversi grazie ad una pianificazione differenziata delle attività di classe, ad un approccio pratico all’insegnamento ed all’apprendimento e, se necessario, ad un sostegno linguistico mirato.

Nella scuola dell’infanzia, il personale bilingue aiuta i bambini a capire ed adattarsi all’ambiente che li circonda e sostiene così lo sviluppo sia della lingua inglese, sia della lingua italiana.

Gli studenti che iniziano a frequentare la scuola dalla classe Reception o successive potrebbero avere la necessità di ricevere un sostegno per l’apprendimento dell’inglese e/o dell’italiano. A questi studenti può essere richiesto di sostenere una prova al fine di valutare se vi sia la necessità di tale sostegno ed, eventualmente, di che entità. H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL integra i programmi dell’International Baccalaureate con una serie di progetti formativi che utilizzano il mondo del digitale come strumento di base per imparare e sviluppare idee e creatività.

In attesa del completamento dell’HCAMPUS, anche presso l’attuale sede dell’H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL inizieremo a dare nuovi contenuti e nuovi strumenti alla scuola, focalizzando il l’innovazione lungo vari tipi di percorsi didattici: i Digital Afternoon, i Family Days, i Digital Native Season Lab, i Laboratori Multimediali, ecc.

DIGITAL AFTERNOON I Digital Afternoon sono strutturati come pomeriggi dedicati all’apprendimento di argomenti specifici, una sorta di “merende” tematiche in cui bambini e alunni sono invogliati a concentrarsi su una particolare attività, utilizzando nuovi strumenti di apprendimento.

Due i programmi da subito attivi con il Digital storytelling come minimo comune denominatore.

Gli appuntamenti, della durata di due ore ciascuno, sono pensati e strutturati per coinvolgere una fascia d’età che va dai 4 ai 13 anni.

INNOVATION IN THE H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL integrates the programs of the International Baccalaureate with a series of educational projects that use the digital world as a basic tool for learning and developing ideas and creativity.

Pending the completion of H-CAMPUS, even at the current site of the H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL we will begin to provide the school with new content and tools, focusing on innovation along various types of learning itineraries: Digital Afternoon, Family Days, Digital Native Season Lab, and Multimedia Laboratories, etc.

DIGITAL AFTERNOON The Digital Afternoons are structured as learning units on specific subjects, a kind of topic “snack” in which students are encouraged to focus on a particular activity, using new learning tools.

Two programs are already active with Digital storytelling as the lowest common denominator: Appointments, lasting two hours each, are designed and structured to involve an age group ranging from 4 to 13 years.

The first is an iStopMotion lab Children are naturally inclined to listen and tell stories from the moment they hear their first fairytale from their parents’ lips up to their learning about the worlds contained and narrated in books and movies.

Per farlo incrociamo l’utilizzo di strumenti tradizionali della didattica (fogli, colori, plastilina) con oggetti meno convenzionali (lego) e con tecnologie hi-tech (iPad).

Il secondo é un Laboratorio di Fumetto Digitale Il fumetto e’ una modalità narrativa particolare che per sua stessa struttura è particolarmente adatta a catturare l’attenzione di bambini.

Questo laboratorio fa leva su una delle abilità che ciascun bambino sperimenta molto presto: inventare una storia. E gli mette a disposizione gli strumenti per farlo in modo nuovo, creativo e interessante.

In questo laboratorio insegneremo ai bambini partecipanti come ideare uno storyboard, creare personaggi e scenografie con disegni, lego e plastilina e come utilizzare gli strumenti di fotografia digitale per trasformare la loro storia in un fumetto digitale vero e proprio.

DIGITAL NATIVE SEASON LAB I Season Lab sono laboratori con cadenza stagionale, di durata settimanale, dove bambini, alunni e studenti si immergono nei temi del digitale con un programma intensivo, coinvolgente e divertente.

To do so we combine traditional educational tools (paper, colors, plasticine) with less conventional objects (Legos) and with hi- tech(iPad).

The second is a Digital Comics Lab Comics are a special narrative mode that by its very structure is well-suited for getting children’s attention.

This workshop builds on one of the skills that each child experiences early on: making up a story. And it provides the tools to do so in a new, creative and interesting way.

In this workshop we will teach our child participants how to design a storyboard, create characters and scenes with drawings, legos and plasticine and how to use the tools of digital photography to turn their story into a true digital comic.

DIGITAL NATIVE SEASON LAB The Season Labs are week-long seasonal workshops where our youngest to oldest students are immersed in aspects of digital technology in an intensive, engaging and entertaining program. The program is structured in 8 training courses, differentiated according to age groups and varied creative stimuli, ranging from storytelling to graphics, computer science to

Il programma e’ strutturato in 8 percorsi formativi, differenziati in base a fasce di età e a diversi stimoli creativi: si va dallo storytelling alla grafica, dall’informatica alla robotica, dall’elettronica ai makerlab, il tutto per fornire competenze specifiche e strutturate attraverso il gioco, la programmazione e la progettazione.

Durante i Digital Native Season Lab i partecipanti avranno la possibilita’ di esplorare molte delle tecnologie utilizzabili al fine di realizzare i piu’ svariati progetti creativi: dalla produzione di videogiochi alla costruzione di robot, dalla realizzazione di opere d’arte alla narrazione di storie animate.

Per farlo, all’interno delle strutture di H-FARM, saranno accompagnati e seguiti passo per passo, in un ambiente stimolante e divertente, in un clima di scoperte e sperimentazioni, sia attraverso l’uso di computer e tablet che attraverso attività senza computer.

Imparando a istruire il computer per realizzare i propri progetti, i ragazzi faranno propri molti elementi che saranno loro utili per destreggiarsi nel mondo: astrarre un problema per replicare la soluzione in altri contesti, descrivere in modo semplice i passaggi necessari a risolverlo, identificare e correggere gli errori nel processo di risoluzione.

MIGLIORARE LE COMPETENZE TRASVERSALI Tra gli obiettivi di questo nuovo modo di fare formazione e didattica c’è quello di incentivare la crescita delle competenze trasversali. Si tratta di quell’insieme di caratteristiche individuali causalmente correlate con un’attività. Non sono on sono riferibili ad attività specifiche, bensì attivabili in modo appunto trasversale rispetto alle attività stesse. Rather than using platforms that encourage the sharing of study subjects, this stimulates research through the use of media sources or the use of game books that can foster the urge to read about and learn new concepts and words, to the point of utilizing successful experiences already developed abroad, such as the use of kits specially designed to employ new educational strategies.

IMPROVING SOFT SKILLS Among the aims of this new educational approach is incentivating the growth of soft skills. These are a set of individual characteristics casually related to a given activity, not referable to specific activities but capable of being activated tangentially to the activities themselves. Soft skills include initiative, adaptability, empathy, leadership, conflict management, persuasion, group management, self-awareness, self-control, positive approach, pattern recognition, systems thinking and verbal communication, to name but a few. Several studies have shown that work efficiency depends on such indirect, unconventional skills more than individual intelligence or technical knowledge. Our goal is to promote their development in our students.

FAMILY DAYS The searedays dedicated to the family,parent-child interaction through or with digital technology acting as a tool of comparison/discussion.

They are structured as actual school days, but carried out within H-FARM facilities between the children and their parents.

The goal is to create a sharing of values and best practices around the use of digital technology in everyday life: from apps ensuring safe navigation to choosing the best digital tools for experiencing family life, and analyzing the risks and opportunities associated with the use of constantly webconnected tools in the presence of children. Vi sono due tipi di valutazione.

There are two types of assessment.

Formative Assessment is ongoing and is interwoven with daily learning and helps teachers and students find out what they know in order to go on to the next stage.

Summative assessment occurs at the end of the teaching and learning process and gives the students opportunities to demonstrate what they have learnt.

SEZIONE PYP (SCUOLA DELL’INFANZIA E SCUOLA PRIMARIA)

All assessment of students’ work in the Primary Years Programme is carried out by teachers within the school; there are no externally set examinations or externally moderated work. However, in line with current state regulations, the children in Year 5 sit the “idoneità” exams, where they are assessed by teacher from the local state school.

Tuttavia, in linea con quanto previsto dalla vigente normativa, i bambini di classe 5° della scuola primaria sostengono gli esami di idoneità per il passaggio alla classe successiva. Gli studenti verranno valutati dagli insegnanti della scuola statale di Olmi.

Al termine della classe Year 5 i bambini pianificano, svolgono e presentano un’unità di ricerca che hanno elaborato da soli. Il momento della presentazione viene chiamato Esposizione. È un’opportunità per fare ricerca su un argomento per loro importante, usando le abilità ed attitudini previste dal PYP e sviluppate nel tempo; per questo motivo funge anche da valutazione dei progressi fatti rispetto al programma.

Durante l’anno scolastico vengono regolarmente svolte valutazioni dei progressi fatti in lingua e matematica.

PYP SECTION

Towards the end of Year 5 the children plan, carry out and present a unit of inquiry themselves. This is known as the Exhibition. It is an opportunity for them to explore an area of importance to them, using the skills and attitudes developed over the course of their time within the PYP, and therefore acts as an assessment of their progress in the programme.

Regular assessments of children’s progress in maths and language are carried out during the year.

During a unit of inquiry there are a variety of tasks to assess the children’s knowledge and understanding, acquisition of skills and their attitudes to learning.

The results of these assessments are reported to parents through Parent-Teacher meetings, written

The portfolio is shared with parents throughout the year and during a student-led conference. This takes place at the end of the year and is an opportunity to celebrate students’ achievements.

MYP SECTION In the Middle School each subject teacher will assess the students regularly throughout the school year to monitor their progress. The methods and timing of the assessments is at the discretion of the individual teacher, but are planned using guidance for the MYP subject guides and designed to assess specific skills, knowledge or approaches to learning. Results of any formal tests are recorded in the student’s personal libretto, and counter-signed by the parents, allowing parents to see their children’s progress in all subjects, as well as being shared through Managebac (see below).

The MYP offers a criterion- related model of assessment. This means that students’ results are determined by performance against set standards which align with the objectives of each subject group. Just as each subject group has four objectives, so student work will be evaluated in each subject against four criteria. Teachers organise continuous assessment tasks over the course of the programme which allow students to demonstrate

Diamo valore al tempo che i bambini dedicano al riposo e al gioco con la propria famiglia e le esperienze che possono fare visitando luoghi diversi coi genitori.

Tuttavia, i compiti per casa sono di fondamentale importanza per favorire l’apprendimento in questa fase del percorso di studi, specialmente per gli studenti che affrontano un’educazione plurilingue.

I compiti per casa forniscono agli studenti una preziosa opportunità per:

HOMEWORK Children have a long day at the H-IS and it is important that they can rest and enjoy their free time at home. We value the time children spend relaxing and playing with their family and the experiences the children can have visiting different places with their parents.

However, homework is part of the learning process, particularly for students who are undertaking the increased challenge of multi-lingual education.

Homework provides an opportunity for students to:

Reinforce and apply concepts, skills and knowledge already taught in school Develop and extend their vocabulary in different languages Undertake some independent research Undertake a more extended task, for which there is insufficient time in school lessons Develop the habits of independent study Complete work that has remained unfinished in class Involve parents in their learning

All homework tasks will be age appropriate and relevant to the work of the class, with the emphasis on quality rather than quantity.

Students are requested to organise their time in order to complete the tasks assigned within the time established by the teachers and parents are asked to support the children in their efforts to complete their homework tasks.

Should there be important reasons preventing the students from completing the tasks assigned, parents are asked to inform the class/subject teacher in writing. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL English reading books are sent home as well as regular exercises in Italian and mathematics. The children will also have words to learn, things to find out, and work to catch up with, when it is necessary. Extra homework (often in the form of a personal project) may be required when preparing for a final assessment. Children can be given maths homework through the Mathletics website.

For information on Mathletics, please refer to www.mathletics.com MYP SECTION Our Middle School students are given homework in all subjects and this forms a crucial part of their study programme.

It is recognised that homework, if focused and meaningful, can extend students’ learning, promote independence and responsibility and develop organisational and self management skills.

Teachers will explain tasks clearly and provide guidance and support on how to complete tasks, particularly more extended projects. Students can refer to the class register and to the Managebac system for details, as well as consult with the subject teacher if they need any further clarification.

Time taken to complete a task will vary from student to student but teachers will ensure that there is a

Students may be awarded points or credits by their teacher for achieving their targets or for service to others or positive behaviour.

Agli studenti possono essere assegnati dei punti o dei crediti da parte dell’insegnante di classe per avere raggiunto i propri obiettivi, per avere svolto un servizio ad altri oppure per il comportamento positivo.

Ogni settimana, ad un bambino o gruppo di bambini per ogni classe viene assegnato un certificato durante l’assembly. Riceverà un certificato anche il bambino che durante la settimana ha dimostrato si sviluppare le caratteristiche del profilo dello studente.

Inoltre, vengono periodicamente assegnati certificati per meriti sportivi o in altre aree. I motivi di lode vengono sempre resi chiari ai bambini.

Le punizioni vengono applicate sulla base dei seguenti principi:

l’insegnante chiarisce che c’è stata una punizione ma non viene interrotto l’insegnamento allo studente punito; l’insegnante è calmo nell’assegnare una punizione; ad essere disapprovato sarà il comportamento e non la persona che l’ha perpetrato; gli insegnanti potranno a propria discrezione ed in base al proprio giudizio professionale, decidere di dare direttamente una punizione, saltando i primi passaggi, laddove ravvisi che la gravità dell’atto commesso dall’alunno sia importante.

Le manifestazioni di bullismo potranno richiedere una verifica da parte della scuola prima che venga applicata alcuna punizione.

We disapprove of the behaviour NOT the individual. Teachers may use their professional discretion to move directly to sanctions further down the list depending on the severity of the behaviour displayed.

Instances of bullying or violence may require investigation before any sanction is agreed. Bullying, viewed as repeated unreasonable criticism or put-downs, verbal abuse, name calling or the exclusion of an individual, is not tolerated. Bullying behaviour is viewed as very serious and parents will be called in to collaborate in helping resolve the issue. Support is given to both parties involved so that different patterns of behaviour can be established.

When normal procedures do not work the following measures are taken:

Il bullismo viene visto come una mancanza grave per la quale vengono convocati i genitori, al fine di collaborare ad aiutare il bullo e la vittima. La scuola fornisce sostegno al bullo ed alla vittima, così da poter far loro assumere diversi tipi di comportamento.

Se i provvedimenti precedenti non hanno ottenuto l’effetto desiderato, vengono adottate le seguenti misure:

If there is little or no improvement, other sanctions may be applied at the Principal’s discretion, this may include exclusion for a fixed term.

On return to school, if there is still no improvement in behaviour then it could lead to permanent exclusion.

It is very rare to have no improvement but in extreme cases this can be a possibility. In the past, most problems have been rectified with both parents and teachers working together to support the child to modify behaviour.

10.3 MIDDLE SCHOOL Our Middle School Behaviour policy shares the expectations and consequences with Italian State regulations. A comprehensive list of sanctions for specific misdemeanors is included in the enrolment form.

Laddove neppure i precedenti passaggi dovessero sortire effetti sul comportamento dell’alunno, potranno essere adottate altre misure, a discrezione della direttrice didattica, quali la sospensione temporanea da scuola.

Al suo rientro a scuola l’alunno dovrà dimostrare di avere modificato il proprio comportamento, altrimenti ciò potrà comportarne l’espulsione definitiva.

Tale possibilità è molto remota e contemplata in casi estremi. Per il passato, i problemi comportamentali sono stati risolti ad uno stadio molto precedente, con la collaborazione delle famiglie.

LA SCUOLA OFFRE UN’EDUCAZIONE INTERNAZIONALE CHE VA INCONTRO E RISPETTA LE ESIGENZE INDIVIDUALI DI OGNI BAMBINO. È IMPORTANTE CHE LE FAMIGLIE CONDIVIDANO LA FILOSOFIA E GLI OBIETTIVI DELLA NOSTRA SCUOLA. INSERIMENTO IN UNA DETERMINATA CLASSE O CORSO SCOLASTICO La nostra scuola non seleziona i bambini, né li divide in base al livello.

Pertanto, come regola generale, i bambini vengono inseriti nella classe adatta in base alla data di nascita. Il lavoro in classe è differenziato per venire incontro ai diversi livelli di abilità presenti. Per i nuovi bambini che devono integrare la lingua italiana, viene fornito un supporto di lingua non incluso nelle rette scolastiche.

ADMISSION TO “THE H-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL” THE SCHOOL OFFERS AN INTERNATIONAL BI-LINGUAL EDUCATION THAT RESPECTS CHILDREN’S NEEDS. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT FAMILIES SHARE THE AIMS AND PHILOSOPHY OF OUR SCHOOL. PLACEMENT IN A PARTICULAR CLASS OR YEAR Our school does not “stream” or select pupils, so children are placed in a year group or class according to their date of birth. Work within a class is differentiated to suit the varying abilities present. For those children who are learning English or Italian, extra support is provided at an additional fee to parents. This should be discussed and agreed upon at the time of enrolment.

Parents whose children may have particular special educational needs should be aware of the challenging nature of the bi-lingual aspect of our school. In such cases, there may need to be separate consultation with parents, teachers, the Didactical Director and if necessary, external support services.

Le lezioni si svolgono dal lunedì al venerdì secondo il seguente orario: Scuola dell’infanzia: 8:30 – 15:15 Scuola Primaria: 8:30 – 15:15 Scuola Secondaria di primo grado: 8:30 – 15:30 Per i bambini della scuola dell’infanzia è obbligatoria la frequenza a tempo pieno, fino alle ore 15:15. Tuttavia, alcuni alunni della classe Honey Bees potrebbero necessitare un’estensione del periodo di inserimento. Ciò comporterebbe alcune settimane/alcuni mesi di frequenza a tempo parziale, a seconda delle indicazioni dell’insegnante.

La giornata scolastica inizia per tutti alle ore 8:30. However children in the Honey Bees may require a longer settling-in time implying part time attendance for a few weeks/months, according to the indications of the class teacher.

It is essential that all children/ students arrive punctually for the start of their lessons and are collected promptly at the end of the day.

Le porte saranno aperte dalle ore 8,10 ed i bambini saranno supervisionati da due membri del personale. Alle 8,20 il suono della campanella avverte gli studenti della scuola secondaria che devono entrare in classe accompagnati dagli insegnanti.

Alle 8,25 suona una seconda campanella che avverte gli insegnanti della scuola primaria che è il momento di andare a prendere i propri alunni per portarli in classe ed iniziare le lezioni alle 8,30.

A quell’ora suonerà una campanella e gli insegnanti usciranno a prendere i propri alunni per iniziare le lezioni alle ore 8,30.

The gates to the playground will be open at 8.10am and the children will be supervised by two members of staff. At 8.20 the bell rings signaling the time for Middle School students to be escorted by their teachers into their building. At 8.25 another bell rings and Elementary teachers will come and collect their classes, ready to start lessons at 8.30am.

Parents are not required to wait with their children at this time. Parents of children in both the nursery and other parts of the school are asked to drop off their older children in the playground before making their way round to the nursery entrance.

Ai genitori viene richiesto di salutare il proprio bambino al cancello e di non entrare in giardino. I genitori che avessero bambini sia nella classe nursery, sia in altre classi, devono prima recarsi sul retro e lasciare i propri figli più grandi in giardino.

La scuola inizia alle 8,30. È pertanto fondamentale che i bambini siano presenti e puntuali. Perdere 5 minuti al giorno significa 25 minuti alla settimana, 1 ora e 40 minuti al mese.

L’inizio della giornata scolastica è un momento importante, in cui vengono dati gli avvisi, vengono condivise le novità e le esperienze fatte ed ovviamente le lezioni prendono avvio.

School begins at 8.30. It is vital therefore that the children are present and ready to start their learning at that time. Just losing 5 minutes every day means 25 minutes a week, 1 hr and 40 minutes a month. The beginning of the school day is an important time, where notices are given, experiences and news shared, and obviously the lessons get underway.

Se un alunno non è presente al momento dell’appello delle 8:30 e dovesse arrivare successivamente, senza avere una motivazione valida (ad esempio una visita medica), sarà segnato sul registro come ritardatario.

Dopo tre ritardi in prossimità uno dell’altro sarà mandata a casa una nota per i genitori.

Se il problema persiste e vi dovessero essere ulteriori tre ritardi, ai genitori ed all’alunno sarà richiesto di partecipare ad un incontro con la Direttrice.

If the student is not present at registration at 8.30, but arrives after that time, without justification (medical visit etc), they will be marked late.

Three late marks in the register in close proximity will result in a note sent home.

If the problem continues,both the student and parent will be requested to come to school to discuss the matter with the head teacher.

I ragazzi della scuola secondaria escono alle 15:30. Una volta ritirati i bambini, i genitori sono pregati di lasciare il giardino senza indugio.

All’uscita da scuola non viene effettuata la supervisione e non è permesso giocare a pallone.

Vi preghiamo di essere puntuali nel venire a prendere i bambini a scuola. I genitori che dovessero arrivare dopo le 15,25 per la scuola dell’infanzia e primaria e dopo le 15,35 per la scuola secondaria, troveranno i loro bambini ad attenderli all’ingresso anteriore della scuola.

I bambini che rimangono a scuola per partecipare a qualche attività pomeridiana, restano nella propria classe fino all’inizio delle attività.

Alle ore 16:30 le attività pomeridiane si concludono ed i genitori verranno a prendere i bambini alla reception in tale orario.

Students of the Middle school can be collected at 3.30 when their lessons finish. When you collect your children, take them with you and leave the school premises directly. There is no supervision in the garden and no ball games are permitted at this time.

Children must be collected promptly.

Parents arriving after 3.25 to collect EYU or Elementary children or after 3.35 to collect Middle School children, will find them sitting on the bench at the main entrance.

Any children staying to participate in after school activities will wait in their classroom until the beginning of their activity. Collection of these children should be at 4.30 from the reception area.

Middle School students can leave school independently, providing parents have given written authorisation.

If you need to re-enter the school for whatever reason, please do so by the front door. The classroom doors will be locked.

If you need to speak to the class teacher, please make an appointment at the reception desk. Trying to speak to them during home time can distract them from their duty which is to ensure that all children are delivered safely to the right person.

The gates are open at the rear of school every morning 8.10 – 8.30 and in the afternoon 3.15 – 3-40. At all other times access to the school is via the main entrance where you will have to ring the bell for entry and report to the reception desk.

Ogni venerdì si tiene un’assemblea che coinvolge tutti i bambini della scuola dell’infanzia e della scuola primaria, mentre i ragazzi della scuola secondaria sono presenti solo in alcune occasioni.

Le assemblee rappresentano un momento di condivisione di novità ed eventi per la comunità scolastica, oltre ad un’occasione per festeggiare i bambini ed i loro successi. Ogni settimana, infatti, una classe presenta parte del proprio lavoro. Vengono anche presentate le “foglie d’oro”, consegnate al bambino o ai gruppi di studenti di ogni classe che hanno meglio dimostrato di agire secondo un determinato criterio, che ogni settimana gli insegnanti estrapolano dal Profilo dello Studente PYP. Vengono anche consegnati certificati per speciali raggiungimenti in ambito sportivo o altri premi.

ASSEMBLIES

Every Friday there is a school assembly involving all the children from the EYU and the Elementary school. On particular occasions, the students from the Middle School are also present.

These assemblies are a time to meet together as a community and share news and events. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the children’s success and achievements as they share their learning with the rest of the school. Each class takes a turn at presenting to the rest of the school.

There is also the presentation of Golden Leaves, given in recognition of individuals or groups of students who have demonstrated different aspects of the PYP leaner profile during the week.

Le assemblee iniziano alle 14:40 e durano circa 25 minuti. I genitori sono i benvenuti, anche in quanto modo per farli sentire parte della comunità scolastica. Chiediamo, tuttavia, ai genitori di essere puntuali e di tenere spenti i telefoni cellulari.

Alla scuola secondaria ci sono delle assemblee ogni primo lunedì mattina del mese per festeggiare gli obiettivi raggiunti dagli studenti e condividere quanto da loro appreso.

Certificates for sporting achievements or other rewards are given periodically.

Assembly begins at 2.40 pm and normally lasts around 25 minutes.

Parents are most welcome to join us for the assemblies as it is also an important opportunity for them to feel part of our school community. We do however ask that parents are punctual and mobile phones are switched off.

In the Middle School assemblies take place regularly on the first Monday morning of each month to celebrate student success and share their learning. These assemblies are open to parents to attend and families will be reminded by email when they are due to take place. If and when necessary students and staff may gather for more informal assemblies to discuss issues concerning the whole school.

EXCURSIONS AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES At the H-IS we provide our students with opportunities to experience learning at first hand. To this end, all classes undertake excursions during the course of the year which are an essential part of their learning. Such excursions are carefully planned to stimulate their interest and bring their learning alive, as well as providing a way of introducing, developing or consolidating the work in the classroom. We appreciate your support with these activities and for insurance purposes we require written permission each time the children are taken on an excursion. The trips are organised to ensure the maximum security and safety for all children participating.

Come parte del nostro impegno a rendere i nostri studenti dei membri attivi e responsabili della comunità scolastica, abbiamo istituito il Consiglio degli Studenti della Scuola primaria e secondaria.

Il Consiglio è composto da rappresentanti eletti in ognuna delle classi dai propri compagni.

I rappresentanti partecipano a regolari incontri, a cui è presente anche un insegnante, per discutere di eventuali problematiche della scuola e per proporre soluzioni.

I membri del Consiglio infatti sono punti di riferimento per gli studenti nella risoluzione di problematiche che riguardano il corpo studentesco.

I membri del Consiglio possono anche essere coinvolti nell’organizzazione di eventi o iniziative che riguardino l’intera scuola e fanno da guida ai genitori in visita durante gli open day.

As part of our commitment to encouraging our students to be active, responsible members of the school community, we have set up a Student Council for Elementary Students and one for Middle School students.

Each council is made up of representatives from each class chosen by their class mates who meet together with a member of staff on a regular basis to discuss school issues and come up with possible solutions. Council members are points of contact for students to raise issues that concern the student body.

The council members may also help to organise school-wide events or initiatives, and be guides for visiting parents on Open days in the school.

Qualsiasi problema riguardante i vostri bambini o il loro lavoro deve essere prima discusso con la persona direttamente responsabile dello stesso lavoro o problema in questione. Nella maggior parte dei casi potrebbe, quindi, essere il docente di classe la persona a cui fare riferimento. Vogliamo assicurare il più alto grado di sicurezza a tutti coloro che sono nel nostro edificio. Tutto la staff ha il dovere di cura nei confronti di tutti i bambini, così come nei confronti dei propri colleghi. Tutti i bambini che frequentano la nostra scuola, lo staff e gli assistenti sono assicurati quando lavorano a scuola o partecipano ad attività didattiche all’esterno dell’edificio scolastico. Tutte le visite didattiche sono accuratamente pianificate al fine di minimizzare i rischi e garantire il benessere del bambino, che è la nostra priorità.

Durante l’anno vengono organizzate delle esercitazioni antincendio per gli studenti. I bambini non vengono mai lasciati soli senza supervisione, anche se sono autorizzati ad uscire dall’aula per recarsi alla toilette autonomamente.

Nell’interesse della salute e sicurezza dei nostri bambini, quando un alunno viene accompagnato a scuola in ritardo o viene portato a casa in anticipo, ciò deve essere fatto sempre, comunicandolo ai nostri uffici. Come sempre, l’adulto incaricato di ciò deve essere conosciuto dagli insegnanti e dallo staff amministrativo. I bambini non possono essere portati via da scuola da un minorenne o da una persona non nota. Se una persona diversa sarà incaricata di portare a scuola o portare a casa i bambini, essa deve fornire autorizzazione scritta da parte del genitore e copia della carta di identità.

SAFETY AND ILLNESS

We endeavour to secure the highest possible level of safety for everyone who is on our premises. All staff have a ‘duty of care’ to all of the children as well as each other, and all children attending our school, staff and helpers are insured whilst working in school and participating on school excursions.

All excursions are carefully planned to minimise any risks and the children’s wellbeing is our greatest priority.

During the school year the school organises fire drills for the students.

In the interests of safety, when children are brought to school late or collected early, this must be done via the school office. As always, the responsible adult collecting the children must be known to the teacher and the administrative staff. Children cannot be collected from school by a minor or an unknown person. If anyone other than the parent is coming to collect the child they must provide written authorisation and a copy of their identity card.

‘Minor’ accidents in the form of grazes, bumps and small cuts will be dealt with in school. (Staff are provided with basic training in first aid skills on a regular basis.) The parents or authorised collector of the child will be informed at the end of the day when the child is collected of anything which may require further treatment.

If your child feels ill or sustains an injury during the course of the day and is still not well after a period of rest, you will be informed so that arrangements can be made for your child to be taken home. In the child’s interests this should be done as promptly as possible.

In the event of a child having a more serious accident the child will be taken to the casualty department of the Treviso hospital immediately and the parents informed at once.

La frequenza ed il progresso scolastico sono correlati e non è corretto pensare che i compiti a casa possano sostituirsi ad un insegnamento e ad un apprendimento di tipo interattivo.

Il calendario scolastico annuale viene programmato in base a:

Il pranzo viene fornito quotidianamente da un servizio di catering. I bambini pranzano nella sala mensa e vengono controllati da almeno due adulti per volta.

I bambini hanno trenta minuti di ricreazione dopo pranzo, sotto la supervisione di due membri del personale.

I pasti sono semplici e salutari e consistono in:

Un primo di pasta/riso/zuppa; un secondo di carne/ pesce/formaggio; un contorno di verdura cruda; un contorno di verdura cotta; pane; frutta/yogurt.

Si prega cortesemente di informare la segreteria di qualsiasi allergia o problema alimentare del bambino.

Eventuali problemi legati al pasto della giornata vanno comunicati alla scuola entro le ore 9.00, così da permettere a quest’ultima di informare l’azienda di catering per tempo.

Lunch is provided each day by a catering company. Pupils, under supervision, have their lunch in the school dining room. The children have playtime for the rest of lunchtime under the supervision of 2 members of staff.

The meals are simple and healthy and consist of:

It is essential that parents inform the school of any allergies or special requirements regarding food or drink.

In order to regularly provide for children with particular needs, the catering company requires that allergies or special needs are certified by a doctor.

Students are welcome to bring a piece of fruit, vegetables or dried fruit each day to eat during the morning break, but sweets, chewing gum, cakes, crisps or sandwiches are not allowed in school.

Please talk with the class teacher in the case of any particular dietary needs.

Possono essere fatte eccezioni per festeggiare i compleanni dei bambini, tuttavia Vi chiediamo sempre di consultare prima l’insegnante. Non sono ammesse nemmeno bevande gassate e zuccherate quali aranciate o altro.

Indossare una divisa esprime un senso di appartenenza ad un gruppo o ad una comunità e promuove un senso di uguaglianza ed unità. Per tale motivo, a tutti gli allievi (ad eccezione della Nursery) è richiesto di indossare la divisa, recante il logo della nostra scuola. Esso raffigura i bambini del mondo uniti nella comunità globale ed è stato disegnato da uno dei nostri studenti. Esprime un chiaro messaggio e riflette la visione della nostra scuola.

Un logo semplificato invece viene usato per alcuni capi della divisa.

I bambini della classe Nursery (Honey Bees e Busy Bees) non sono tenuti ad indossare la divisa ma avranno bisogno di un cambio di biancheria e di vestiti.

Molti genitori scelgono, comunque, di acquistare la divisa anche per i propri bambini di classe Nursery.

SCHOOL UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT The wearing of a uniform expresses a sense of belonging to a group or community and fosters a sense of unity and equality. For this reason it is a requirement for all students, from reception to the final year of the middle school, to wear the uniform, which bears our school logo. This logo, representing children of the world united in a global community, was designed by one of the school’s pupils and expresses a clear message than reflects our school vision. A simpler logo is displayed on some uniform items. Children in the nursery classes (Honey Bees and Busy Bees) are not required to wear the uniform although many choose to do so.

School uniform items are available to purchase directly from the suppliers, details of which are available from the school office.

If a child does not wear school uniform:

Trainers are required for outdoor lessons, whereas children should wear light gym shoes for indoor sessions. Outdoor footwear is not allowed in the gym.

La borsa con gli indumenti per lo sport potrà rimanere a scuola durante la settimana ma dovrà essere portata a casa il venerdì. Finché i bambini non avranno un’età in cui potranno assumersi la completa responsabilità dei propri effetti personali, chiediamo ai genitori la collaborazione nell’accertarsi che il lunedì mattina i bambini vengano a scuola con la borsa da ginnastica.

Per ragioni di sicurezza è importante che i bambini portino a scuola ed indossino un abbigliamento sportivo per le lezioni di educazione fisica. Ai bambini sprovvisti degli indumenti adatti verrà vietato di partecipare alle attività. L’educazione fisica è una parte essenziale del nostro programma.

Qualora l’assenza degli indumenti adeguati sia ripetuta nel tempo, verrà mandato un avviso a casa ai genitori. prima dell’inizio del nuovo anno scolastico, la scuola invia una comunicazione alle famiglie contente la lista del materiale. Ogni alunno dovrà avere con sé ogni giorno di scuola i libri/quaderni richiesti e il materiale così che la mancanza degli stessi non vada a inficiare il loro apprendimento.

The sports bag may be kept at school during the week but should be taken home at the weekend. Until the children reach an age when they can take full responsibility for remembering their equipment and sports kit, we appreciate parents’ help to ensure that children have their sports bag at the start of each week.

For health and safety reasons it is important that children bring and use their kit for sports activities.

Those children without the correct kit will not be allowed to participate.

Physical Education (PE) is an essential part of our curriculum. Reoccurring instances of a lack of kit will result in a note being sent home.

A list of the required equipment for each class, will be sent out to parents before the beginning of the school year. Students are expected to come to school each day with the required textbooks and equipment so that learning can take place without disruption.

Può accadere che l’insegnante di vostro figlio chieda di portare qualche oggetto da casa per completare un particolare progetto. Di norma, tuttavia, non sono permessi nelle classi, particolarmente durante l’ora di lezione, giocattoli e oggetti personali, inclusi i telefoni cellulari. Tali oggetti saranno trattenuti nell’ufficio della scuola per essere poi riconsegnati al termine della giornata. La scuola non si assume la responsabilità di eventuali danni o smarrimenti di tali oggetti.

L’unica deroga a tale regola può essere fatta per quei bambini della Nursery che abbiano bisogno del conforto di un oggetto familiare, al fine di facilitarne l’inserimento nella vita scolastica. In tal caso, ai bambini è consentito di portare a scuola un giocattolo al quale sono particolarmente affezionati. Il giocattolo in questione deve però rispettare le norme dettate dalla Comunità Europea in materia di sicurezza.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS/ ITEMS BROUGHT INTO SCHOOL From time to time your child’s teacher may ask them to bring something in from home to help with a particular project. Apart from this, personal belongings, such as toys, mobile phones and other objects, must not be brought to school. Such items will be confiscated and retained in the school office for collection at the end of the school day or for repeated offences at the end of school term. The school cannot accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused to personal belongings.

The only exception to this rule is in the case of very young children who are still adjusting to school life. In these cases, children may bring a much-loved toy, which must comply with EU safety regulations.
