For many years, the Filipino masses have been subjected to systematic injustices perpetrated by the ruling class. However, this does not come unchallenged. Generations of Filipinos unwavering in their dedication to liberate themselves and the society from the oppressive status quo remain a constant source of inspiration and urge us to persist in our resistance.
Chronicling narratives of the masses through various media, Gumil-ayab (to set ablaze) is an exhibition presenting a collection of compelling artworks that ignite thought, challenge perspectives, and highlight the progressive spirit of resistance of the people.
More than an exhibition, Gumil-ayab is a call to action for everyone to ignite change and to take part in the struggle of the masses as they resist and fight for their right to life, land, and honor.
