The leaves on trees and plants are extremely colorful and beautiful, there is a giant array of Halloween decorations all around, and the sky is either a gorgeous kind of cloudy or nice and clear. On any given day you can hear wind or rain and fallen leaves scraping across the ground. There are so many different smells that you can barely keep track. You can smell pies and carved pumpkin, or the smell of everyones Thanksgiving food. We celebrate Samhain, Day of the Dead, Halloween, and All Saints Day. It’s a wonderful time to honor the dead, and to get together with your “live” friends and family at Thanksgiving. We have changed the name of our publication to better reflect who we are. We are now Psychic Lifestyles instead of Psychic Guidepost. Our lifestyles is what we celebrate and we hope to bring you many good articles
This quarter we’ll be starting a radio show to discuss contents in the magazine, spirituality, manifestation, divination, lifestyles of people in the “psychic business,” and a host of other topics. iamonds are a girl’s best friend, but so would be a collection of other fabulous gems that are considered birthstones. Some people would disagree of the type of gem associated with birthstones. Some say the ruby is the January gem, or that the Alexandite is the June gemstone. I so prefer the pearls for June, perhaps because that is my gem, and I love pearls and everything associated with them, including the beach.

At that time, a beautiful young maiden named Amethyst was on her way to worship the Goddess Diana. Diana knowing of Bacchus vow, turned Amethyst into a pillar of colorless quartz to protect her from the tigers. Bacchus witnessing the miracle, backtracked and
poured wine over Amethyst staining her purple. Other legends say this gem can control evil thoughts, help with addictions, and assist hunters in the capture of animals. It also is a good luck gem for those doing business dealings. March- Aquamarine, was thought to cure heart, liver, and stomach diseases—all one had to do was drink the water in which the gem had been soaking. Early sailors believed that aquamarine talismans, etched with the likeness of the sea god Neptune, protected them against ocean dangers. Particularly seasickness. It is said the gem originated in the ancient treasure chests of timeless mermaids. Chests would overflow with the aqua blue brilliance and light up the mermaid caverns. It is called the sailor’s lucky stone because it has spent so much time at sea. The Greeks and Romans believed the stone ensured a safe and prosperous journey and passage through stormy seas. April –Diamond. The diamond, originally thought to have exceptional healing abilities, was considAutumn Issue 2015

ered by some in past millenniums to be a “miracle stone.” A large variety of healing properties have been attributed to the diamond, including the ability to cure stomachaches, memory loss, depression, physical tiredness, infections, mental illnesses, nightmares, skin diseases, and many other head and heart ailments. The ancient Romans and Greeks had a lot of powerful beliefs about diamonds, including ideas that diamonds were the tears of the gods or possibly even splinters that had broken off of falling stars. Roman literature, which first made mention of diamonds in the first century AD, also stated that Cupid’s irresistible arrows were tipped with diamonds. Classical Greek philosopher Plato went even further to write about diamonds as living beings that embodied celestial spirits. May- Emerald. I consider this to be a ravishing gem. It was considered to be one of Cleopatra’s favorite. (It probably went well with all her gowns). This birthstone has been associated with fertility, rebirth, and love. Ancient Romans went so far as to dedicate this stone to Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. Today, it is thought that emeralds signify wisdom, growth, and patience. There are legends saying, whosoever wears the emerald has the ability to see the future by placing the gem under the tongue. This practice reveals truth and protects the owner against evils spells and hexes. This gem was hailed for curing diseases like cholera and malaria, at least that is what the ancients believed. It is also believed that when you wear an emerald it cures you from stage fright and makes you an eloquent speaker. June- The Pearl. I personally believe this is one of the most elegant gems. A good set of pearls could dress up a tie-dyed T-shirt and torn jeans. Long known as a symbol of purity. It represented the magical moon in little pockets of darkness. The Ancient Greeks believed, that pearls were the hardened tears of joy from Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Some believed they were the hard tears of mermaids who wanted to explore land and have legs. An ancient Chinese tale tells of a boy who found a miraculous pearl. He 10

would place the pearl in a jar with just a little rice and the next day the jar would be full of rice. When the neighbors found out about this and tried to force their way in to steal the pearl, the boy swallowed the pearl to protect it. He was turned into a dragon. To this day, dragons in Chinese art are often depicted with pearls, the jewels that they are protecting. July-The Ruby: This dazzling red gem was regarded by ancient Hindus as the “king of gems.” It was believed to protect its wearer from evil. It is a gem of opulence and it was believed the owner created even more wealth when he possessed this gem. Today, the ruby’s deep-red color signifies love and passion. According to legends, if you placed a ruby into water it was thought to make the water boil. If you hid it in a wrap, it would shine through and show its presence. Many felt that a ruby could serve as a torch and light up in the darkness. The darker rubies were considered to be male, while the lighter rubies were female. It didn’t really matter the sex of the ruby, the fact was the owner would feel physically and mentally healthy wearing it. He would have power as all evils are controlled and wearing it gave the body warmth. August-The Peridot - This brilliant stone is known for symbolizing strength. It is sometimes called the evening emerald for its light green olive color. It was once believed that the green Peridot crystals found in volcanic ashes were the tears of the volcano goddess, Pele. When set in gold, this gem was said to protect the wearer from nightmares. The advantages of the Periot is that it attracts love, sooths the nerves and calms anger. Egypt’s national gem, the peridot was brought to Europe by the Crusaders to decorate cathedrals. One famous large peridot gem adorning the shrine of the Three Holy Kings in the cathedral at Cologne was for centuries, believed to be an emerald, and only identified as peridot late in the last century. A few jewelry historians are now convinced that some, maybe all of the emeralds Cleopatra was famous for wearing, were not actually emeralds, but Peridots from Egypt.

September-The Sapphire. The name alone, “sapphire” bring sweet images of magic, or sensuality. I think anyone wearing sapphires must be feeling pretty sexy, yet, the gem symbolizes purity and wisdom and was a favorite of priests and kings. It was once thought to guard against evil and poisoning. It was believed that a venomous snake would die if placed in a vessel made of sapphire. The Greeks identified the sapphire with Apollo. If you were going to consult one of the Oracles of Delphi (psychic readers of the times) it was believed you would have a powerful reading if you wore a sapphire. The gem had the power to tap into the “third eye.” A wizard or magician was thought to be found of this stone for it’s ability to influence spirits or make something more clear. So if you are going to go to a séance bring a sapphire for a more powerful experience. October-The Opal. This gems shows all it’s colors. It’s like the tie-die of all gems. IT comes in a rainbow of colors. It symbolizes faithfulness and confidence. The word comes from the Latin opalus, meaning “precious jewel.” Necklaces with opals set in them were worn to repel evil and to protect eyesight. Throughout the world the opal has been credited with supernatural origins and powers. In Arabic legends, they say it feel from the heavens in flashes of lightening. The ancient Greeks believed opals gave the owner the gift of prophesy and guarded them from disease. 12

Europeans, starting with the Romans consider the gem one of hope, purity and truth. November - The Topaz. Just the name alone invokes excitement, anticipation. It’s an inviting gem, a sort of “open says-a-me” of all gems. It symbolizes love and affection. It is believed to give the wearer increased strength and intellect. It was believed that if you wore a Topaz it would make you invisible, you could conquer your enemies or hide, while being able to watch what is going on around you. Worn on the left arm, a topaz amulet protected its wearer from dark magic and greed of others, relieved the pain of arthritis, regulated the digestive system, aided in weight loss, and attracted love. In potions, it was thought to cure a wide range of ailments. December – The Turquoise. Do not under estimate the power of the turquois, it is regarded as a powerful love charm. It is also a symbol of good fortune and success, and it is believed to relax the mind and to protect its wearer from harm. Turquoise rings, in particular, are thought to keep away evil spirits. Aztec kings, Arabic royalty and the Afghanistan Empire all valued the royal blue and softness of this gem. There are many Native American tales about turquois. A Zuni legend relates the story of Turquoise Man and Salt Woman. They went away from the People, because they did not feel they were valued enough. Turquoise Man said, “His flesh was simply given out
to women for sexual favors.” He was offended that he was being used for trade or money, particularly among the white strangers that took over the land. Samhain is not the name of some Celtic God of Death
S
amhain is known by most folks as Halloween, but for many modern Pagans it’s considered a Sabbat to honor the ancestors who came before us, marking the dark time of the year. It’s a good time to contact the spirit world with a seance, because it’s the time when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest.
Myths and Misconceptions:
Contrary to a popular Internet-based (and Chick Tract-encouraged) rumor, Samhain was not the name of some ancient Celtic god of death, or of anything else, for that matter.
Pagan Spells
Religious scholars agree that the word Samhain (pronounced “sow-en”) comes from the Gaelic “Samhuin,” but they’re divided on whether it means the end or beginning of summer. After all, when summer is ending here on earth, it’s just beginning in the Underworld. Samhain actually refers to the daylight portion of the holiday, on November 1st.
All Hallow Mass:
Around the eighth century or so, the Catholic Church decided to use November 1st as All Saints Day. This was actually a pretty smart move on their part – the local pagans were already celebrating that day anyway, so it made sense to use it as a church holiday. All Saints’ became the festival to honor any saint who didn’t already have a day of his or her own. The mass which was said on All Saints’ was called Allhallowmas – the mass of all those who are hallowed. The night before naturally became known as All Hallows Eve, and eventually morphed into what we call Halloween.
The Witches’ New Year:
Sunset on Samhain is the beginning of the Celtic New Year. The old year has passed, the harvest has been gathered, cattle and sheep have been brought in from the fields, and the leaves have fallen from the trees. The earth
slowly begins to die around us. This is a good time for us to look at wrapping up the old and preparing for the new in our lives. Think about the things you did in the last twelve months. Have you left anything unresolved? If so, now is the time to wrap things up. Once you’ve gotten all that unfinished stuff cleared away, and out of your life, then you can begin looking towards the next year.
Honoring the Ancestors:
For some of us, Samhain is when we honor our ancestors who came before us. If you’ve ever done genealogy research, or if you’ve had a loved one die in the past year, this is the perfect night to celebrate their memory. If we’re fortunate, they will return to communicate with us from beyond the veil, and offer advice, protection and guidance for the upcoming year. If you want to celebrate Samhain in the Celtic tradition, spread the festivities out over three consecutive days. You can hold a ritual and feast each night. Be flexible, though, so you can work around trick-or-treating schedules!

How to Honor Ancestors
P
lease remember to always treat them with respect. Keep your altar clean and if you really don’t have time once a week for a small service to them then wait until you do have the time. You can give them a small candle or a vigil, some smoke and a cool glass of water. If you have graveyard dirt from their graves a small amount can be placed on their altar. They should be given special treat at least once a month; this can be something that they really loved in life. If they had a special flower, fruit, cake, perfumes, or maybe a favorite song, try to share these things with them. Don’t just go to them when you need something, after a while they will began to feel used. Wouldn’t you? ; If someone called only when they needed something from you. Show them the same respect you want for yourself!
Honoring the Ancestors What you do is approach the altar, knock three times, call on the ancestors and tell them who you are. You then tell them why you have come (to 16

honor them). Then you pick up your glass and add water to it, hold the glass to your heart, head then up above your head, say something like I offer you this water to quench your thirst. Do the same thing with the whiskey, candle, the cigar and a piece of bread. Talk a bit out of the bread and say “I share this meal with you my beloved ancestors”. Talk to them for a while, tell them how you miss them, and have not forgotten them. Ask your ancestors for their blessing in your daily life ask them to help you have good health, love, and prosperity. Then light a white candle for them dressed with blessing oil. You then say a prayer for them.

R/.Amen. When you are finished clap your hands and tell them to go in peace, thank them for coming to you when you called on them. Working with Spirits The first thing I think we need to discuss is working with a spirit. You need to understand this before you try to work with any spirits. It is important for us to remember that the way the person lived his live, is the same way the spirit will be. So if someone in life was mean and vile, then their spirit will be mean and vile in death. Just because someone has passed on doesn’t mean they have changed. The spirit is full of power, a very strong entity; you should always show respect to the spirit. We as a people tend to only remember the good things people have done in their lives, once the have passed on; but when you are working with a spirit it is very important that you remember the whole picture. It is not really that hard to understand, use your common sense when you choose a spirit to work with. Ask your self some basic

Halloween Trivia Orange and black are Halloween colors because orange is associated with the Fall harvest and black is associated with darkness and death. Jack o’ Lanterns originated in Ireland where people placed candles in hollowed-out turnips to keep away spirits and ghosts on the Samhain holiday. Pumpkins also come in white, blue and green. Great for unique monster carvings! Halloween was brought to North America by immigrants from Europe who would celebrate the harvest around a bonfire, share ghost stories, sing, dance and tell fortunes. Tootsie Rolls were the first wrapped penny candy in America. The ancient Celts thought that spirits and ghosts roamed the countryside on Halloween night. They began wearing masks and costumes to avoid being 18

recognized as human. Halloween candy sales average about 2 billion dollars annually in the United States. Chocolate candy bars top the list as the most popular candy for trick-or-treaters with Snickers #1. Halloween is the 2nd most commercially successful holiday, with Christmas being the first. Bobbing for apples is thought to have originated from the roman harvest festival that honors Pamona, the goddess of fruit trees. Black cats were once believed to be witch’s familiars who protected their powers. The fear of Halloween is known as Samhainopobia.

Halloween is on October 31st, the last day of the Celtic calendar. It was originally a pagan holiday, honoring the dead. Holloween was referred to as All Hallows Eve and dates back to over 2000 years ago.

A story of a Love Spell
O
ne of the topics I get asked about the most, be it as a psychic or a witch, is romance. A large portion of these queries regard love spells. Do they work? How do you do them? Should you do them? Well let me tell you my thoughts by sharing with you my personal experience of them. A little over 4 years ago, in the Winter of 2010 I decided it was time I started looking for a serious relationship again. I’d been separated from my previous husband for 4 years, but was still only 27. I’d dated, I had got my life together, I had two wonderful kids... now all I wanted was someone to share it with. In the Winter of 2010 there was a Blue Moon, this is when there is either a 2nd full moon in a calender month, or more traditionally a 4th full moon in a season. These are seen as a time of heightened power to do any sort of manifestation work. I decided if I was 22

By Lily Oak going to bring witchcraft into husband hunting, this would be the time to do it. The method of spell casting I chose was to charge a flower bulb. After preparing my altar, casting a circle and calling deities, I whispered to the bulb everything I wanted in a husband. “Caring, artistic, good with children, loves being outdoors, looks a bit like a Viking.” At this point you will notice that I am not casting the spell upon a specific person, or altering anyone’s feelings or free will. I was magically petitioning for someone with these qualities, who would find equally desirable qualities in me, to come into my life. The following day I went for a walk in some local woodland I favoured and planted the bulb. At this

I asked him why he came so far and he said he’d just seen the group online and we looked friendly, and he lived in a really rural area, so had to drive a long way to get anywhere. “Oh,” I said “what do you do?” “I work as an outdoor instructor for kids” came the reply. “Really?” I went on as my mind zoomed back to that bluebell in the woods. “So are you a member of any other pagan groups?” “Oh yeah!” He answered “I’m doing the Bardic course with the OBOD!”
point I should point out that it was a native British bluebell species, so I wasn’t having any negative impact on the local ecology. I also collected some litter whilst I was on my walk, as a way of thanking the woodland for it’s help in my magical endeavours. Then there was nothing left to do but wait. Skip forward to Eostara of 2011. I was leading an open ritual in Newcastle, it was a large group and the regular attendees took turns to lead the rituals. The day before I was still weighing up what to include in the ritual so went for a walk to think. As I wandered in the woodland I got curious and went over to the spot where I’d planted the bulb back in Winter. I smiled to myself to see a tall bluebell stem covered in flowers. I decided to take inspiration from there. Given that it was the start of Spring I thought I’d buy a big bag of mixed Summer flowering bulbs, and have everyone hold them whilst we did a meditation on what we wanted to manifest in our lives by the time they flowered.
Skip to April of 2014. Gordon and I walked up a hill to a stone circle together and were married in front of all our friends and family. It was one of the happiest days of my life, and I remember thinking I had everything I ever wanted. Now please don’t read this and assume that because I used magic in my quest for romance, our relationship is all sunshine and rainbows. At no point in my whisperings did I say “someone who always agrees with me, someone who does what I want without question, someone who never challenges me.” If I had of said those things I would have ended up with a painfully boring potential partner, or no partner at all
We were expecting a few new people that night, they’d said they were coming on the groups online forum, and I’d managed to introduce myself to most of them before the ritual started. Just as I was starting I noticed someone slipping in at the last minute, a man in his mid twenties with a short beard and long blonde hair. The ritual went well, and afterwards I thought I had best introduce myself to the newcomer... purely out of Autumn Issue 2015

A hedge witch is very much a free spirit. Hedge witches are also related to the village witches of old. The term, hedge witch, comes from the fact that your average European village, in time gone by, was surrounded by a hedge or woods. Beyond that hedge was unknown land, beyond their known perception... i.e. the Other World. The village witches of this era usually lived just beyond or just before this hedge. The hedge was a metaphor for some one who practiced shamanic arts, a walker between the worlds. as that may have pushed me over the edge and into the realm of trying to manifest things that are ridiculous, like when people do spells for Ferraris, or unicorns. Also, notice I said “potential partner”, magic favours the bold. Had Gordon walked into my life and I had totally ignored him when we met, or given up and refused to compromise upon our first disagreement, we would not have the relationship we do today. So when people ask me if love spells work, I can confidently answer “yes”. However, they have to be used in the right way, and you have to put in some good old fashioned charm and flirtation once magic opens the right door for you. Magic will not control the mind of someone for you, it will not change who a person is, it will not absolve you of all personal emotional risk taking and interaction. What it can do is line up your path with the right person and give you an opportunity for love, whether or not you take that opportunity is very much up to you. 24

Ghosts First there is no need to be afraid. Spirits of people who have passed on are just left over energy. They still live because a soul cannot die. If you are walking into a strange house and pick up on ghosts, that’s one thing. These ghosts are all harmless, and it’s usually your own fear that feeds a spirit that has been stuck due to a traumatic incident. Seeing a strange ghost can be an unsettling and even frightening experience, but as long as you know they cannot physically harm you, then you always have the power over them and can begin to listen to what they want to tell you. Mediums have a gift for connecting to the other side, but I’m convinced we all have these psychic gifts and we can connect through meditation and practice.
Departed souls If you’ve lost someone then being open is key to receiving any messages. The signs of the departed soul come in a little differently. or even their voice calling your name comes in loud and clear. Or you could suddenly feel them touch you, your shoulder or cheek. All these are signs the departed soul is letting you know they are okay, still alive and waiting to join with you again. They are simple messages to let you know they are still around.
Spirit guides/Angel Spirit guides are highly evolved beings who we choose before we are born to help nudge us on this spiritual path we are on. They are disembodied beings whose soul’s purpose is to keep us alive until our human contract is done and of course to guide us along the way. You feel your spirit guide through “gut feelings” – your spirit guide is gives you that nagging feeling that you should have gone another way, or when you know not to trust someone and you do it anyway. This gut feeling is something you must pay attention to because it keeps you on your highest path. We tend to ignore our gut feeling a lot. Which is why we end up in the predicaments we do. Another way a spirit guide connects with you is by sending you the “signs” – little synchronistic events. These events by no way tell you what to do, instead they are designed to get you to pay attention so you can make the right decision or choice. For example a synchronistic event could be you hearing the same song, three times in one day, pay close attention to the words, your guide is trying to tell you something. Your spirit guide may also bring people into your life to help you along with something. It’s probably your spirit guide who brought you someone to fix your flat tire just when you needed help.

How Spells Work

itches and magicians often use a “layer cake” structure for describing the levels that “active” or “operative” magick and spellcraft work on. One example is as follows, and is a simple way of viewing the various composite forces at work. Keep in mind that this is not a definitive list of the mechanisms of magick or the cosmos. One can only truly realize how and why magick works through experience and contemplation. This list is only a brief glimpse of magickal components, and can be deconstructed, dissected, and reconstructed in a million ways—and probably should be! Physical plane – Physically gathering the components 30

of a working, and performing the working on the mundane or manifest plane. The physical plane is strictly the material used in the spell. This material includes any and every physical factor, including the color of robes one is wearing, the gestures being used, the incense being burned, the words being said, or the current phase of the moon. Again, these are merely physical; the magick and metaphysical properties behind the correspondences are nonphysical. The physical plane also represents the magician’s work associated with the magick within the physical plane (be it physically ritualizing the intention or following it up in physical reality—i.e. casting a spell for a new job still requires the person to submit résumés to employers) and represents the potential—or likelihood—for it to spring into existence. (In other words, the goal must not be impossible or highly unattainable.)
Mental plane – Using thoughtforms, visualizations, and other mentally-constructed components. Thoughts create reality, and accurately projecting intention through the mind encourages other planes to follow suit. Visualization is hugely important in spellcraft because the mind is the force that thinks things into existence. Shifting one’s mind encourages the other planes to manifest accordingly. Magick follows intention. Emotional plane – Utilizing one’s emotional body to send forth a spell’s energy. Truly desiring change helps it naturally manifest and gives a working both spiritual and creative power. This is the bridge between thoughts and unseen energy, and is the spark of the divine within us. Emotions dictate our actions, thoughts, and perceptions, and casting spells aligned to the emotional body bridges the gap between the higher and lower spheres. Etheric plane – Working with the web of nearmanifest energy which links all things in existence. The ether exists in all things physical, yet is nonphysical itself (such as the aura of the human body). I view planetary energies as etheric in nature, whereas the planets’ actual placement itself is physical (astronomical), much like the elements themselves (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) are physical items that also carry an etheric essence. Astral plane – Working with the abstract. The astral plane is greatly symbolic in nature, and tapping into humankind’s wellspring of associations draws upon cosmic energy. These associations can be seen in the Qabalistic Tree of Life, amongst other units of association. Gods exist and “come to life” on the astral plane, seeing as they are created constructs of human experience. Abstract symbolism and associations draw upon the astral plane: the unconscious “group mind.” Spiritual plane – The ultimate plane of unity; the source of all things. Terms such as destiny, Karma, Gnosis, Kether, Spirit, Oneness, and godhood are all used to describe this. The spiritual plane is the ultimate paradox, as it is everything and nothing simultaneously. The spiritual plane encompasses our individual Karma as well as cosmic destiny. This plane affirms that all is God. Spellcraft taps into this force of

creation and destiny to encourage manifestation and change on all levels. When casting, one must suspend strict rationality and disbelief to some extent, but mustn’t view the process as something based purely in fantasy and imagination. If a person casts a spell with a heavy amount of uncertainty, fear, anxiety, moral dilemma, or is unfocused while doing so, they will indeed get the same in return. In all ways, you get what you give, and this holds true for spellcraft. If one knows, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that their magick “works,” it will in fact do just that. Though successful spellcraft boils down to intention, intention is not the only factor that deserves attention in the process. For example, let’s say that Billy wanted to perform a spell for money. For the spell, he is to light a green candle, put herbs associated with money at its base, and write the outcome with dragon’s blood ink on parchment. However, let’s say Billy only had a black candle, belladonna, and bat’s blood ink available as tools. If he were to substitute the black candle for the green one, belladonna for the “abundance” herbs, and bat’s blood for dragon’s blood, the spell would be likely to fail simply because the ingredients were not aligned 32

to the purpose. However, if he were to observe the necessity of aligningtools to purpose, he could modify the spell by using the black candle to banish debt and the belladonna to absorb the sadness associated with not having enough. He could then write the name of the illness (and its associated woes) with the bat’s blood, and finish the spell by burning the paper and throwing the herbs and candle stub off the side of a bridge. (Certainly, it would be advisable for him to also perform manifestation magick to fill the energetic hole of that which was banished.) In the above example of a simple spell, we helped Billy use what he had to modify the spell for his purposes. It’s essential to have a realization of correspondences and project one’s intention through those
correspondences to magnify and amplify the magick. If everything you are using is aligned to the purpose at hand, including the spell’s herbs, stones, colors, spirits, guides, gods, or guardians being summoned, the current astrological configuration, the stage of the moon, and so on, the only missing ingredients are intention, focus, and willpower. Finally, one must follow up their magick with real-life action. Spells, no matter how involved and complex, are not a substitute for mundane action. The mundane plane is where our physical bodies operate and where we can best assist in the manifestation of magickal intention. Breath is your spirit
B
reath is essential to living and loving your Spirit. In fact, you breath is your Spirit. The breath you take gives you life. To breathe deeply is to claim your Spirit and bring it into every cell. One of the first things that occur when you disconnect from your Spirit is that you stop breathing deeply. You tend to breathe shallowly instead and even occasionally hold your breath altogether. When you body does not get adequate breath it goes more deeply into fear and anxiety, thus creating a vicious cycle of self-debilitating negativity. So to love your Spirit, to live your Spirit, you must breathe. There are several ways to breathe that instantly align you with your divine Spirit, and raise you vibration. The first is to breathe in deeply through the nose, and then, open your mouth, relax the back of your throat, and release the sound “AH” as you exhale. Do this several times right now and notice the change in your vibration. As you do this, place your hand over your heart and feel the vibration on your heart as your breath releases. This kind of breathing is not usual. We all do it naturally. It’s called a “sigh”. When we sigh, we get out of our heads air false ego self and reconnect to Spirit. It’s a natural reflex to keep us true to our higher self. A doctor once told me a person cannot breathe deeply and worry at the same time. It’s biologically impossible. A deep breath interrupts and dissipates worry waves. I cannot say for certain this is true, but I can say it is true for me. When I breathe in through the nose, and slowly out through the mouth with an 38

”Ah…” I cannot worry about anything. I can only feel relaxation, ease of tension and relief. It feels great. Try it yourself and see if you can worry and breathe at the same time. Of course, you can worry between breaths if you’d like, but if you breathe consistently even that becomes more and more difficult to do. Another breathing technique that calms the mind and raises your vibration instantly to the frequency of Spirit is called “AH HA Breath.” This breathing technique is useful when your ego mind has gotten so knotted up in a mountain of worry and you can’t seem to struggle free or connect with your Spirit, no matter what you do. To engage this breathing stand with your legs slightly apart and slightly bent at the knees then take in the deepest breath you can and quickly thump your chest in the area of your heart with your fist and release a loud resounding “HA”! As you do make certain you are free to be as loud as you can be when you do this thump on the heart to get the best results and calls your Spirit instantly into your body. The “ha” is the equivalent of a lifeguard’s whistle “shouting “everybody out of the pool now!” It energetically breaks up and expels and sends running any negative frequencies that have gotten hold on you and restores you vibration to your authentic divine frequency and peaceful divine mind. This breathing technique is a little startling to you and anyone around you. That’s the point. It startles the ego mind into release. It acts as a reset button on your energy patterns. After you take your breath, thump your chest and expel energy with a loud emphatic “HA” slow breathing in and then listen.
What you will be delighted to hear is silence. At least in your head you will hear beautiful glorious silence, the peace and quiet of divine mind. This exercise done two or three times a day clears your energy of all negativity and quiets the brain, much like lightning hitting the ground.

Another breathing suggestion is to, throughout the day, and especially when under stress step away from whatever you are doing and take a “breather”, literally a break to simply breathe in deeply for five minutes and realign your consciousness for your Spirit.
So, to love and live your Spirit remember:
In my opinion, breathers are not unnecessary indulgences. They are essential self- loving timeouts we all need throughout the day. The entire world would be a whole lot better off if everyone took a few more “breathers.

Here’s another great tool. I call it “share a breath”. By this I mean breath in unison with another, falling, if possible, into a common breathing pattern for several minutes. Because the breath is Spirit, it is physiologically impossible to share a breath with someone, and at the same moment feel threatened, unsafe, or unworthy or disconnected in that person’s presence. The breath is our common bond, the great divine equalizer. It’s a secret tool of the best negotiations of the world. When you share a breath with another or better yet a breath in unison with another for several minutes you automatically ease any obstacles, barriers, fears and judgments that exist between you given how much energy our ego minds draw from us with

onsidering that many in this field consider the “Telephone to the Dead” to be the touchstone of radio-based Instrumental Transcommunication as we know it today, I think it is wise to shed some light on the topic. The “Telephone to the Dead” is the name that was given to the device Thomas Edison was working on in the last decade of his life. In multiple essays on spiritualism written during the early 1920’s (all are available in the book The Diary and Sundry Observations of Thomas Edison by Dagobert Runes, 1948*), Edison tried to grapple with the concept of how the spirit could exist after death. He thought that the “life units” that were unknown by science joined together to create every animate (and possibly inanimate) object. Upon death, these life units broke up into their respective individual units and joined another form after human death. This is a theory which is obviously unproven and may even be considered patently false because of the technology that has been advanced by ninety plus years since Edison espoused this theory. Edison knew of electrons, and

he figured that the life units were even smaller than electrons. Edison based this theory upon the physics concept of energy interchangeability: “I believe, rightly or wrongly, that life is undestructable, it is true, and I also believe that there has always been a fixed quantity of life on this planet, and that this quantity can neither be increased or decreased.” On Edison’s Earth, nothing, not even life, could be created or destroyed; so he therefore assumed that life units changing from one form to another were responsible for all life on this planet. If, according to Edison’s beliefs, the “life units” of the spirit broke up upon death to join another form, how could a personality exist in the afterlife? Edison was vexed by this idea and struggled to come up with a theory which would allow for life after death to exist. To make this theory a viable one, he utilized the idea of “swarms.” Edison was convinced that swarms of life units were responsible for not only the thinking and memory of humans, but for every life function of every plant and animal. His evidence that swarms life units were responsible for memory consisted of the fact that someone can burn their fingertips badly enough to remove all the skin in a blister, but yet, the fingerprint whorls would grow back the same way. These swarms moved from one form to another after the human body, which served as merely a vessel for these swarms, passed on. Edison believed that these swarms of life units were responsible for all evolution (he gives the example of wooly mammoths and elephants, daisies and blue daisies). after death revolved around the Broca’s Area of the brain. The Broca’s Area was thought to be responsible for the seat of both memory and personality due to the results of “eighty-two surgical operations.” Edison felt that if the swarms of life units that made up the Broca’s area could continue to exist in a swarm after death, then the personality could live on and there could be a life force after death that could be contacted. We have learned since Edison’s time that the Broca’s Area is responsible for lanuage comprehension and development. Regardless of Thomas Edison’s misinformed understanding of biology, he was inventive genius who was astoundingly capable of developing devices to serve a purpose. During the last decade 42

of his life, he turned to inventing a device that would be capable of communicating with any sentience that existed beyond the grave. In “Spiritualism,” written in 1920, Edison postulated that, “For my part, I am inclined to believe that our personality hereafter will be able to affect matter. If this reasoning be correct, then, if we can evolve an instrument so delicate as to be affected, or moved, or manipulated – whichever term you want to use – by our personality as it survives in the next life, such an instrument, when made available, ought to record something.” Edison continued an attempt to develop this device. He continued in this essay: “I have been at work for sometime building an apparatus to see if it is possible for personalities which have left this earth to communicate with us.”
This instrument has been dubbed as the “Telephone to the Dead,” and currently, this instrument that Edison was working on has never turned up. Edison never referred to his device as the Telephone to the Dead; it is a name that has been given to this device by paranormal researchers. In his essays, the item he was working on was likened to to a valve that would amplify the ability for the swarms to manipulate the object so that “it does not matter how slight is the effort, it will be sufficient to record whatever there is to be recorded.” Until this day, the plans for Edison’s device have yet to be discovered and the Edison Estate (and many skeptics) claim that Edison must therefore have never worked on a device to communicate with the dead despite these essays saying the exact opposite.
I would like to point out that the Edison Estate not only redacted the 80+ pages of spiritualism from his diary and had it repressed, but the estate also held on to his documents for over 50 years until they were sent to Rutgers University. Edison continued to work on the “Telephone to the Dead” until he became comatose in 1931 and died shortly thereafter. Before dying, Edison briefly came out of his coma and said to his wife, Mina, who was keeping vigil at
in Scientific American. He also gave an interview to the New York Times in 1921 which stated that he was more than willing to discuss life after death only in terms of life units. These articles, plus the additional publications from Runes’ publication of Edison’s diary, solidly point to the fact that Edison was in fact working on a device to communicate with the dead. Skeptics claim that Edison’s interview with Forbes was merely a joke being played by Edison and that his followup in Scientific American was a way to extend that joke. A careful reading of these articles plus his others from his diary collection will show

Where is the instrument he was working on? Where are the instrument’s plans? I would not be doing this aricle justice if I did not address the skeptical side of the Telephone to the Dead. From my research, I have yet to come up with a reason why Edison has been equated with this term. Spiritual phones were being used in the 1940’s and their usage may have been anachronistically applied to Edison’s work. The first mentioning of Edison working on such a device was in the October 1920 issue of American Magazine. Interviewed by B.C. Forbes (later of Forbes magazine), it was revealed that Edison was developing an electrical device to speak with the dead. This was the same year that he wrote his essay on Spiritualism which was featured
that Edison truly believed in his work and the same theories are postulated again and again by him. The most damning evidence of Edison and his spiritual beliefs came in the form of an October 1933 essay in Modern Mechanix. This article purports to have been written about a secret meeting in 1920 in Edison’s lab where he tried to communicate with the dead. Complete with illustrations describing how Edison set up a beam projector and photoelectric receiver with delicate instruments that would register anything (including smoke) that would cross the beam’s path. This group of scientists sat there for hours and nothing happened. But, what does this prove? Precisely the fact that Edison was interested in the afterlife and was working on devices to prove it.
This “experiment” was published about in 1933, two years after Edison’s death and thirteen years after the experiment. This leads to questionable motives on the part of Modern Mechanix magazine. Were they inclined to be iconoclastic in nature? This experiment, being performed in 1920, does not give credence to the followup work that Edison did during the last decade of his life. It is clear from essays he wrote later that his work continued at least into late 1922 and that he was still developing a device. But where is his final device? Where are the prototypes? Where are the plans? These questions have gone unanswered for decades. The Edison estate has avowed that Thomas was never involved in work with a device to communicate with the dead because no plans, or instruments, have ever turned up that point towards his attempt at instrumental transcommunication. In the last decade, many ITC researchers have had a male voice come through claiming to be Edison. Is it possible that Thomas Edison is trying to communicate with us? Other researchers have had both male and female voices coming through offering technical advice for improving ghost boxes. Are these entities the spirits of departed humans trying to build a bridge to help us communicate with them better? Currently, we have no answers other than what ITC voices tell us. If you choose a natural flowing stream of water the best way to keep your crystals from getting away from you is to get a nut milk bag and dunk the bag for several minutes into the flowing water. Method Three: Crystal Cleansing With the Earth This method is similar to using other crystals and minerals as a means for cleansing. To cleanse crystals with the earth you simply bury the crystals under a plot of sand or dirt and leave them there overnight. Burying your crystals in the earth naturally grounds them, and any negative energy or intention that the crystal may have picked up will be drawn into the earth and cleansed. Affirmations can be helpful to improve pendulum reliability close your eyes for a moment and imagine a blank screen in your mind’s eye, or simply allow your mind to clear. you can breathe and focus on the word “peace”, allowing your whole body and mind to relax. Affirmations can be very helpful to improve pendulum reliability. when you are first learning how to use a pendulum, you can create a ritual of saying: “i am open to receive the truth now. i release all judgments, expectations and preconceptions, and am willing to know the highest truth for the highest and best good of all.” Many expert dowsers begin each pendulum dowsing session by asking “may i/can i/should i?”, meaning, “may i ask about ______ now?”, “can i ask about ______ now?” and “should i ask about ____ now?” each of these questions addresses a different level of responsibility. “may i” is a question of whether you have permission from the universe to address that topic. “can i” inquires as to whether you have the necessary dowsing skills to address that topic, or whether your pendulum is willing to address it. “should i” is a question of whether or not this is an appropriate topic for you to be inquiring about, for your highest good, or that of others. When you are first leaning how to use a pendulum, it can be helpful to rest your elbow on a table to make sure that your arm is secure and your hand is not moving. you can 48

try holding the pendulum up with your elbow on the table, or rest your entire forearm flat on the table and let your hand and pendulum dangle over the edge. also, try holding the chain in different ways and at different lengths, from the very tip, to an inch or two from the pendulum bob (make sure you keep excess chain out of the way in the palm of your hand) to see what works best and is most comfortable for you. There are several methods you can use for increasing pendulum reliability and accuracy when asking questions. first, you can write a list of questions that have a “yes” or “no” answer on a piece of paper, then point to each question and watch the response of the pendulum. typically, if the pendulum moves in a clockwise direction, that indicates a “yes” or positive response, and if the pendulum moves in a counterclockwise circle, that usually indicates a “no” or negative response (unless your pendulum swings are different and unique for you). you can also try numbering these questions, then turn the piece of paper over so you can’t see them and ask for the answer to question one, then question two, etc., writing down the answers that you receive, then correlating them with the question numbers when you are done. You can also write down a list of possible answers/options and point a finger of your free hand down
that list, watching the response of the pendulum. you will be able to clearly see and feel the best answer or option by the strongest and widest swing of the pendulum. if two or more options receive a positive response from the pendulum, you can go back to each of those and ask “is this the best option for me now?” Another method for keeping your mind from influencing your pendulum is to write down various options on different pieces of paper and turn the papers upside down. hold your pendulum over each piece of paper and ask, “is this the best option for me right now?”, or whatever question you have in mind. Adding the word “now” is always important, because the future is not set in stone. the future is a matter of probability and is always subject to change by choice and consequence, because every action creates a reaction that influences and alters the future.”now” is the only time that truly exists, and “now” is the only time in which you have power, so adding the word “now” to your questions will increase your accuracy. you can verify your dowsing responses by asking your pendulum, “is this the truth now?”, or “is this the highest truth for me now?”. Avoid the temptation of asking the same question over and over again, because this will only confuse your dowsing results. also, make sure that you are asking only one
question at a time. if you ask, “should i go downtown to shop on tuesday”, you are actually asking three questions: “should i go downtown?”, “should I go shopping?”, and “should I go on Tuesday?”. keep in mind that the clearer your questions are, the clearer your answers will be. Let go of the need to be right, and try to remain as impartial as possible. any psychic will tell you that it is easier to do readings for people you don’t know than to do accurate readings for yourself or your loved ones. If you want to ask about a topic that you aren’t sure you can remain neutral about, ask someone else to dowse the answer for you. you can either ask the question to them aloud, or think the question very strongly and silently in your mind, and have them tell you the response of the pendulum. Skeptical of Psychic or Tarot Readings? It’s Okay

have a confession to make here: even though I have been doing these readings for many years, I went through a couple of bouts of being skeptical myself. While I know that may seem strange for someone like me to say, but it’s the truth. There were times when I didn’t want to do this work because I was afraid of saying the wrong thing and hurting people. Other times, I couldn’t help but wonder if what I was putting in my readings were actually just my own thoughts of how I wanted things to be for the person getting the reading. This has come to mind most often when I was doing readings for friends and family. 54

When I was very young, I heard voices, saw things I didn’t understand and just seem to know things without any idea of why I knew them. Lucky for me I had a Gram that was able to explain it all to me because the same things happened with her. While she embraced it, I wanted nothing to do with any of it because it scared me. She tried to impress on me how I could do as she did and use this ability to help people. Nope, no way, I wasn’t going to do it, let someone else help them. At first I thought I was going crazy, but after some time realized it was just part of who I was but still I wasn’t going to just accept this happening to me.
See a Psychic’s point of view. Some years later, I finally decided it wasn’t going away so I might just as well learn how to control it and make the best of the situation. After several years of actively doing readings, I began to wonder if what I was telling my clients was something I was really seeing or was it just what I thought they might need. In other words, my own wishes or thoughts for them. A friend who also read Tarot and we decided to read for each other, write it down and then have readings done. The first appointment we had was cancelled due to a family emergency by the reader, we went to another place and I felt uncomfortable, so we looked further. On a whim, we stopped at a book store that offered readings. I was impressed at how accurate her reading was, but was taken aback when she told me she knew I read Tarot and told me she gave classes if I would like to attend. I thought she might say this to all her clients to get people to attend her class, however, she never mentioned it to my friend. I decided to take the classes and was delighted at the second class when the teacher asked me to give her a reading. This was the affirmation I needed to realize it wasn’t my own thoughts coming through but I was really able to give my own clients a clear and accurate readings. I often have people tell me they are skeptical because they are afraid of what the reader might tell them. No one wants to hear they will have a bad accident, illness or worse. I can’t say I blame them, that would be hard to hear. While an ethical reader may see these types of things in your reading, they would never blurt it out, but might instead tell you to postpone a trip or have a doctor give you a good physical. We would all like to only hear good things, but that’s not the reality which we call life. From time to time we might have to give you news that isn’t what you want to hear, but if it’s what we are getting then it is probably what you needed to hear. Many times clients have told me they were unsure of getting a reading because they felt the person giving the reading may have looked up their information, or
ask questions to get information they would then turn into a reading. Ethical readers will never use these tactics on their clients. My clients often come to me through the internet, but I also do face to face readings. I’ve never researched them before the reading, and the only question I, and ethical readers will ask is your first name and date of birth if we are doing a phone or internet reading. This allows us to better hone in on your energy to give you a more accurate readings. Yes, we know there are a lot of fakes out there causing clients to be wary of getting a reading. We try to educate clients on how to avoid them, but it does still happen. If you have been to one of those types, I fully understand why you would be skeptical of having other readings done. For myself, I am not in the business to bilk clients or give them fairy tale readings. That isn’t good for my clients nor is it good for my business. Still skeptical, I’d be glad to answer any questions you have about how I do readings. I am an ITC SPIRIT PHOTOGRAPHER Researcher. I photograph moving water and color in my environment as well as photograph moving crystal SPHERES and other quartz such as Master Crystals. I do not traditionally “read” the Crystal Sphere by simply gazing into it as others do. I photograph quartz crystal spheres while its moving and spinning with candles and colors that are light from behind it in a darkened room. I take 7 second movies of this quartz movement and spiraling color. I also do EVPS <Electronic Voice Phenomenon> as I film for a further ommunications to take place giving spirit every opportunity to create a connection. Each film taken is examined frame to frame, the entire movie, specifically looking in these still shot for clear spirit faces, angelic beings, animals, Scenes of nature <often seen>, words being spelled out, and of course other light beings through the veil. Spirit can and will use colors to manifest themselves! They are quite advanced in this concept and are attracted to certain vibrational
colors and frequencies. ALL Color and ALL Sound carries its own vibrational rates and emits energy. Spirit is pure waves of energy vibration and they will use the powerfully charged quartz vibrational energy along with the energy in the environment to manifest themselves in our photographs. Even our OWN energy vibration is used by spirit at times. While working with ITC WATER PHOTOGRAPHY I often place quartz inside my water bowl with excellent results. I will also charge my water with programed quartz crystals and then place that water in a pyramid to even further enhance the power of that water being used before my sessions raising its vibrational level. The Quartz charges the water and this enhances the communications with spirit at times. Spirit seems to know exactly what I am doing. Its quite fascinating to watch them emerge in the bowl or in the sphere I photograph. They easily use color to manifest perfectly! Its always amazing to see. This is why its of great importance to always be mindful while exploring quartz crystals before working with them or after holding them or using them for imagery and especially during and after working with the spirit world. Quartz does pick up energy and thoughts quite easily even from the spirit world. Each person that touches a quartz leaves an imprint within its depths recorded. Quartz records everything within its environment. Whether the quartz has termination or is sphere shaped, large or small makes really no difference. Cleaning quartz regularly is necessary as a normal maintenance while working with them. Surprising to some quartz crystals have large vibrant auric fields! The auric field can be measured quite easily by dowsing with copper rods which I often do to measure and gauge where the auric field of each Crystal begins and ends and to gauge if it has been cleared properly of stagnant and or negative energy. This is very effective technique to read the auric field of each mineral you work with or heal your body with. The use of quartz in moving WATER while I photograph has become an interesting and excitingly powerful ITC tool rendering many spirits manifesting themselves within either the water or the crystals in the bowl. It has completely blessed my life and has taught me many things regarding the world of spirit. While using the combination of the energy of the quartz combined with the powerful memory of water as well as the color in the immediate environment all combined creates a powerful palette for spirit to manifest itself. The use of Lasers beamed into Crystals have also rendered good results seeing human faces within the depth of the crystals that have been used in crystal experiments. A Crystal has its own energy system and that energy produced can be conducted into water, easily, for filming ITC Water Spirit sessions.

BitWine has changed management, and has been in a transition period now for at least a year or two. The commissions are now at 33% still the best in the industry and readers have reported making great money on there, up to 3k and beyond. With changes in management the site is expected to grow, we wouldn’t be surprised if the commissoins go up to at least 50% as the new managers get a grip on how the business is going.
