Autopsy reveals: Adriana Drowned
autopsy rules out forced drowning father rejects findings
lawyer renews calls for independent probe
An independent Post MortemExamination(PME) conductedonthebodyof11year-oldAdrianaYounge on Monday concluded that the childdiedfromdrowning.
Thiswasrevealedbyher father, Subrian Younge, following a four-hour long autopsy at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) This was later confirmed by the family's lawyer, Darren Wade and laterPresidentIrfaanAliata newsconference.Priortothe child's Post Mortem, which commenced around 12:30pm, a series of scans, including X-rays and a fullbody CT was conducted to assessforfracturesandother injuries, including internal bleeding.
While Younge's mother declined to comment on the findings of the autopsy, the child'sfather, whopulledher lifeless body from the Double Day Hotel pool on April24toldreporters,“This is no result to me.” The child's family has not accepted the findings of the PME, conducted by the three-member pathology team The specialists included Dr Shubhakar Karra Paul from Barbados Dr Gary Collins, Chief Medical Examiner of Delaware, United States of America and Dr Glenn Rudner of Mount Sinai Hospital.
In a subsequent press briefing, Wade confirmed, “based on the findings, they determined that she died by drowning ” The lawyer witnessed the autopsy, in addition to another local doctor, Caleb Mc Cloggan. The entire PME was recorded for transparency purposes.
In his update, Wade was keen to note that no bones were discovered broken in thechild'sbody Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of Adriana drowning somewhere else, hesaidnodeterminationwas made in that regard. “They were unable to determine thatatthisstagewhethertap water or pool water and so forth. No determination was madeinrelationtowhereshe drowned,”thelawyersaid. He also explained the

reasonforthediscolouration on the body of the 11-yearold “Based upon my understandingandwhatwas explainedtothefamily, these are not my words, they are consistent with water damage,” Wade noted While there were reports of cotton wool being observed in the child's nostrils, after her lifeless body was pulled from the pool, the lawyer said pathologists made no such discovery when the bodywasexamined.
In the meantime, the family's attorney noted that relatives of the girl are continuing to press the government of Guyana for anindependentandimpartial investigation. Wade complained that although President Ali publicly said that no stone would be left unturned in the death of Adriana and he will support thefamily, therehasbeenno effort to meet this specific request by the family The family had requested the services of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)ortheScotlandYardor theRoyalMountedPoliceof Canada to investigate the death Wade stressed, “I believe it is critical at this point in time for the family and for the entire country that the state acts, that the President doesn't just talk andthathedeliversbasedon thatpromise.”
Positionofbodyinpool Adriana's body was found floating in the pool, butinsteadofherheadfacing downward, the child's body wasdiscoveredinastanding position. He noted that this questionwasaskedandthere

Attorney-at-law,
were discussions, however he was not in a position to address the issue. When asked by this newspaper if murder has been ruled out, given the findings of the report, the lawyer said this was not the job of the pathology team He explained,“Thatwasnotthe jobofthepathologistsandif you follow what I have just said, it is imperative and important for an impartial and proper investigation to bedone.Wehaveacasehere where the police failed to cordon off the place (hotel). We have a situation where thepolicefailedtoactsothat isaquestionmoreorlessthat should be directed to the police.”
Meanwhile, since no determination was made regarding the water that entered Adriana's body, Kaieteur News asked Wade to say if there was any possibility of investigations being conducted to verify that the water contained chemicals usually found in swimming pools. To this end, he said, “I am not sure whether or not the water found in the lungs is the water from the pool or what have you. I can't say that. I cannot say whether or not that the result shows a differentwaterorwaterfrom the pool or from a different location.”
Thelawyeradded,“Iam notsurewhetheratthisstage it is possible, but what we could do is call for a proper investigation and I believe one of the things is that the bodywasthereforlong.”He told this newspaper that the independent investigators

should have already been invited to address such questions.
Wade noted too that the child's body was examined to determine whether she was sexually molested however there were no positive indications of such.
There was also no determination regarding the time of death. Wade said an explanation was provided however he was unable to recall the reason Additionally, thelawyersaid the pathologists could not determine whether any strange DNA samples were foundunderthechild'snails. Instead, he posited that this would be a question better
directedtoinvestigators.
He noted that the pathologists were initially prepared to address the media however, this was no longer facilitated due to the unrest outside of the hospital.
Noforceddrowning
Meanwhile, inaseparate press briefing last evening, theHeadofStatesexplained that the autopsy was conducted to identify signs of trauma or injuries to the body, detect signs of sexual violence and collect appropriateforensicsamples to determine the cause of death. He said, “due to the stateofthedecompositionof Miss Younge's body, the

patholo gists were unable t o provide an exact time ofdeath.”
Moreover, Ali stated, “The relatives were also informed that the pathologists ruled out theories of forcible drowningoranyothermeans of killing followed by disposal of the body in water.”Inthemeantime, the President noted that the PM reportwillbemadeavailable to the family and the public forexamination.

A limping GPF
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is seemingly in a racewithitselftooutdowhatithasdonebefore, sinkto still lower depths. Police corruption is a form of misconduct in which law enforcement officers have violated their oath and code of conduct and abused their power for personal monetary gain or any other type of personal benefit gained illegally as a result of the officer's position or authority This type of corruption may involve one or a g r o u p o f o f f i c e r s Itisabetrayalofpublictrust, departmentalpoliciesand humanrights.Itinvolvessolicitingoracceptingbribesin exchangefornotreportingacrime, thesellingofdrugs, thetheftofmoneyfromdrugdealers, assaults, fabricated arrests, issuing false reports and falsifying evidence in order to secure convictions of civilians and suspects, stolengoodswhichofficershaveaccesstothroughtheir investigations, and ticket fixing by accepting bribe to cancelornotissuetraffic ticketstodriverswhoviolatedtheroadordinances. One of the reasons put forth for police corruption is that many policemen are underpaid and desperately in need of extra money to survive, and also because they have easy access to money – such as that seizedfromthesaleofillegaldrugs–orthemeanstogetit without too much scrutiny, such as when there are massivedrugbusts.

Govt retreats from fight against unlimited oil spill liability so must withdraw court appeal
DearEditor, Hopefully, allofGuyana have recovered from the shock of the bombshell preelection revelation that the Government has retreated from their rabidly fought 5year battle against unlimited liability protection to cover an oil spill. Criticisms directed at the current Chairman and CEO/Secretary of the ERC are misdirected
DearEditor,
The Ethnic Relations Commissionrespondstothe Stabroek News letter to the editor authored by Christopher Ram, dated April 28, 2025, titled "The tabling of a ten years' late, incomplete Ethnic Relations Commission's audited financial statement is wrong inallrespects."
The Commission firstly agrees with the premise that audited financial statements are critical to public accountability and transparency, and further
concurs that all public agenciesshouldsubmitthese documents in a timely manner as prescribed by the Constitution to the National Assembly
Itmustbenotedfromthe onset that the current Chairman of the Ethnic Relations Commission, Shaikh Moeenul Hack, and the current CEO/Secretary, Gomin Camacho assumed duties in MARCH 2023 and JULY2023,respectively The financial audits for the years 2022 and 2023 were conducted in 2024.

e v e n w e n t t o t h e inconceivable extreme of steadfastly fighting the requirementincourtinacase filed by eminent Attorney Melinda Janki on behalf of CollinsandWhyte;andafter a crushing defeat, went all the way to the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) obtaining standing to enjoin Exxon in appealing the loss. The senselessness here is that while they await a pending appeal against unlimited liability in the Collins and Whyte case, at the same time, they are proposing the exact law into theBill.
Naturally, all Guyanese welcomeachangeofheartof the government to provide the nation with such meaningful environmental security in the form of unlimited liability protection.
For this reason, the government could instantly clear the air upon making sense of this apparent madnessinwashingawayall of the hovering dark clouds of skepticism and mistrustfulness,by:
1 I m m e d i a t e l y withdrawingboththeAGand theEPAfromtheirappealsin the Collins and Whyte case, since the Government has reversed itself to now agreeing with Collins and Whyte in their case for unlimitedliabilityprotection;
2. Immediately directing the EPA to enforce Judge Kissoon's Decision in the Collins and Whyte case for unlimited liability that is alreadyinthepermit;
During this process, it was discovered that the previous Commission, under its former Chairman and CEO/Secretary,hadfailedto submit audited financial reports for seven
onsecutive years (2015–2021). As such, the current Commission would have cleared this backlog of submissions that were pending from the previous Commission Additionally, audited financial statements for 2022 and 2023 were completedandreceivedby (Continueonpage6)
3. Reimburse the legal team of Collins and Whyte forallcostsincurredtodate, since now proven to be an admitted error in judgement onthegovernment'spart.
Considering that the unlimitedliabilityprotection is at the root of this sea change reversal, it is essential that the readers be refreshed with the historical context as to how we have gottenhere:
1 With no liability coverage for an oil spill providedbyEMGLastheoil operator, the Coalition

Government enshrined into law, unlimited liability protection to cover all costs relatedtoaspill.
2. Upontakingoffice, the PPPC Government took theillegalandcallousaction to cancel the liability coverage, thustriggeringthe Collins and Wyte lawsuit against EPA and EMGL for violating the legal requirements in the permit calling for unlimited coverage.
3. Judge Kissoon's Decision on the Collins and Whyte case dealt a mortal blowtotheGovernmentand EMGL,adjudicatingthatthe language in the permit
d coverage was “expressed in clear unambiguous terms” and “such a course of action toviolatethepermitismade permissible only by a derelict, pliant and submissive EPA”, and that “The EPA has descended intoastateofslumberatthe critical juncture of an emerging oil sector and has, ateveryjuncture, engagedin a course of action to undermine and erode the terms and conditions of its ownpermit.”
4. Instead of saving face and honor the Judge's Decision as any responsible and law abiding democratic and caring Government will do, the AG belligerently foughtallthewaytotheCCJ to be allowed to enjoin Exxon in appealing the Decision.
5. To add insult to injury, while the appeal is pending, the government flies in the face of the judiciary in concocting an agreement with EMGL to captheliabilityat$2Billion USD However, despite severalattemptstoverify,no proof of $2B has ever been shown. In any case, this no longer matters with the G o v e r n m e n t ' s metamorphosis from being against unlimited liability to a $2B cap, to finally for unlimited liability, hopefully
6. For the two years following the Judge's Decision, Jagdeo and Nandlall promised week
afterweek, thesoondelivery of the Bill; hence, just like the many other goodies being doled out at this time, the sudden gift of an unthinkable sweetener after five years of ferocious fightingagainstit, givesrise to suspicion of an election stunt.
Maybe we should wish foranelectioneveryyear,so, won't have to wait for five years to be provided with what is best for the country That notwithstanding, that question mark will only disappear if, and when the three earlier recommended actionsareenacted.
Conjointly, a likewise reversalmustbeputintothe Bill to stop the treacherous producing of oil above the safe operating limit as dictated in the legally sanctified Environmental ImpactAssessment(EIA). Prevention is the most fundamental tenet to avoid occurrence of an incident suchasanoilspill, andindeed aprominentfeatureoftheBill asdepictedbyitstitle.
The current rate dangerously exceeds the safe rate by close to 40%, and lawlessly, the EIA enshrines onething, whiletheoperators areallowedtododifferently, significantly enhancing the riskofaspill.TheBillwillbe meaningless without taking this prevention measure to stop the dangerously unsafe production rate exceedance incompliancewiththeEIA.
Simplyput, iftheincident could be prevented, there wouldbenoneedforenforcing theliabilityprotection.
Looking forward to the opportunity to intensely scrutinizetheBill, forthedevil isalwaysinthedetails

It is time for a new commissioner of police and Mc Bean is exceptionally suitable for that position
DearEditor,
I will start this open letter by giving my commiserations to the family of the late Adrianna Young. It's extremely sad and unfortunate that such a catastrophic and heinousactwascommittedonthatlittlegod angel. The entire Guyanese citizens are calling for justice to be served on the perpetratororperpetratorsresponsible.
President Ali also announced that no stones will be left unturned in the investigation, and he is committed to ensuring that justice must prevail. This incident has erupted protest action across Guyana and by Guyanese in the diaspora. I Believethatpeopleshouldstandtogetherfor their rights and I believe in "peaceful protest", burning places, blocking roads and looting isn't peaceful protesting so I urge all my Guyanese brothers and sisters to protest peacefully
My personal analysis of the situation, I
strongly believe that the initial approach by the police was horribly executed, and basic SOPsweren'tcarriedout.Thepublichaslost a tremendous amount of trust in the Guyana PoliceForce, andtheonlypersonwhocould regain the trust and execute the duties of the Commissioner of police is Mr Simon Mc Bean DC DC Mc Bean is not only exceptionally qualified academically, he's knowledgeableinpolicing, veryprofessional and humble, he's a people's person with 33 yearsofunblemishedservice. He'sknownfor handling complexed sensitive matters effectively&professionally.HeledtheGPF through major reforms & significantly lowered crime rate during his reign as commander of various divisions. In conclusion, I one thousand percent recommend Mr Simon Mc Bean as commissionerofpolice.

Adriana Younge's death mandates competent investigation and prosecution
DearEditor,
As a former Senior State
Prosecutor/Counsel, Police Legal Advisor and Magistrate who prosecuted and tried many cases in Guyana, similar to Adriana Younge's,Iamconcernedthatpertinentareas of the investigation are not lost in the sensationalism this matter has rightly generated.
The forensic pathologists' reports must collectively, and conclusively establish that deathwasduetofoulplay, towit, murder, and not accidental drowning, or otherwise. If deathwastheresultofactsinfurtheranceof the commission of a felony, such as rape, kidnap, causing bodily harm and/or any violent act, it will still be murder, via the felonymurderrule.
Former Government Pathologist, Dr LeslieMootoo, servedastheforensicexpert whoestablishedthatthevariousmurdersand manslaughters I prosecuted were not due to naturalcauses, accident, orotherwise, butby foul play only In the one case where justice was not served-State vs. Alvin Mitchell, (1984) 39 WIR 185, referred to in Guyana's judicial history as “the Body in the Bush murder case.” Dr Mootoo equivocally said that the deceased, Nastawantie Persaud, a waitress, could have fallen out of a moving jeep driven by the accused, and meet her horrible death, not by asphyxiation, but by accident. The corrupt Judge pounced upon the pathologist's blunder, perversely upheld no case submissions, and acquitted the
accused, despite overwhelming evidence to thecontrary, andpublicoutrage.Historyhas awayofrepeatingitself.
Lie detector tests, nexus of causative events, and DNA evidence linking the suspected perpetrators, are vital in this case, in the seemingly contrived disappearance of videos, audiosandeyewitnesses.
The pool, its water, the hotel rooms and the bodily parts of Adrianna, especially her fingernails, may still contain the culprits' matching DNAs. Cell phones may contain incriminating texts, photos, audios, emails, messages, locations and other links connectingtheviciouskillerstotheirheinous crime, andmustbeanalyzed.
The DPP's Office should try to obtain relevantCourtordersexpeditiouslyfromthe Judges for these and other items, citing the public, juridical and urgent nature of these requests.
No stone must be left unturned in AdriannaYounge'sdeath.
The burden of proof to prove guilt in a criminal case is a high one-beyond a reasonable doubt Prosecutors and the GuyanaPoliceForce, andinternationalallies, mustdotheirjob, for“Thepowerofevilmen lives on in the cowardice of the good.” - St. JohnBosco.

Kamla storms to victory in TT elections …ending PNM's 10-year rule
( T R I N I D A D EXPRESS) In a stunning political upset that has redrawn the political map of Trinidad and Tobago's, the United National Congress (UNC), led by Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has swept to victory in the April 28 generalelection, topplingthe People'sNationalMovement (PNM) from government afteradecadeinpower
The UNC's triumph was built on a groundswell of public discontent and a meticulouslyexecutedsocial media and promotional campaignthatbrokethrough long-standing political barriers of race, class and geography
Persad-Bisessar will be prime minister for a second time, and lead into Parliament a group of incumbents, new faces, and severalcoalitionpartners.
The result was known before10p.m.
Persad-Bissessar said to her supporters "From all indicationstheUNChaswon theelections.Donotbecome boastful and arrogant, we havealotofworktodo.God blessallofyou.
The marginals are trending ahead, Tunapuna, St Joseph..." And it was retiring Dr Keith Rowley, and not Prime Minister Stuart Young, who took the podium at Baliser House, Port of Spain to deliver the news to a devastation group ofsupporters.
He said the population had chosen a "package of promises".
Political analysts saw this result coming weeks
ago. Across the country's fiercely contested marginal constituencies, including San Fernando West, St Joseph, Tunapuna, and even the once-safe Toco/Sangre Grande, voters sent a clear and unmistakable message, they wanted change, instead of the new chapter that was promised by Stuart Young, whose stint will be just four monthsasprimeminister
The 2020 general election had left the PNM, under Dr Keith Rowley, clingingtopowerbynarrow margins, even as signs of voterfatiguebegantoshow
In this general election cycle, thepoliticallandscape wasalmostunrecognisable.
Rowley, who had announced he would not seek re-election as Prime Minister but still led the PNM into the campaign, faced an electorate upset by thegovernment'shandlingof the Covid-19 pandemic, and worn down by economic hardship, spiraling crime, and accusations of governmental complacency andarrogance.
The UNC, despite its political leader being challenged from within by dissident MPs, and from from the outside by discarded former UNC politicalinsiders, capitalised on the national mood with a message of reform, accountability, and renewal. Their aggressive ground game and polished social mediastrategyresonatednot just with traditional supporters but with disaffected swing voters in urban, suburban, and rural
seatsalike.
The campaign song was infectious, its colour coding engaging, and its campaign meetingswerelikefetes.

The freshly minted National Transformation Alliance(NTA)spearheaded b y f o r m e r p o l i c e commissionerGaryGriffith, and the Patriotic Front, led by Mikela panday, the daughter of legendary politician Basdeo Panday also fielded candidates in m a n y o f t h e 4 1 constituencies, injecting the campaign with new voices and alternative visions Despite their spirited challenges, the status quo that is Trinidad two-party system, PNM vs UNC, did not change It was the marginals, as always, that told the real story San Fernando West, which the PNM had narrowly held in 2020, slipped away after a fierce contest that saw the UNC capitalise on local anger over infrastructure neglect. In St. Joseph and Tunapuna, historically seen as bellwethers of national sentiment, voters decisively swung toward the opposition Even in Toco/Sangre Grande, once a symbol of PNM dominance, astunningreversalunfolded, with high turnout from traditionally neglected communities tipping the balance.

The establishment of a national child alert system would not only improve law enforcement's ability to respond promptly to child abductions but would also empower the general public to actively participate in safeguarding our children. “The implementation of the National child alert system would stand as a lasting and meaningful tribute to the memoryofAdriannaYoung, ensuring her life and untimely passing serve as catalysts for lasting national protection reforms.” “The swift dissemination of critical information to the public through mobile

H@RD TRUTHS
Two words. ‘No trust.’ They say all that has to be said. I say what must
On the placards, 'No trust' relates to the Guyana Police Force (GPF). This is bigger than the GPF
Becausetherearethosewho have the GPF where it is.
T h o s e w h o h a v e manipulatedit, thenmisused it, to the detriment of Guyanese, especially the poor and distressed ones. Tuschen is just the tip of seething resentments, the spark that gives Guyana a glimpse of what heaves beneaththesurfacecalm. As with the reference to the GPF,theeruptionofemotion is larger and broader than Tuschen. Maybe, widerthan all Guyana. Yesterday, it wasTuschenandthehorrors surrounding an 11-year-old child. Before that, it was Linden. Guyanese fear a repeat of either of those two somewhere else here Where is unknown, until it happens, and then the machinery clicks to attention.
PresidentAli puts on his mostsolemnmask, holdsthe hands of the grieving, and works hard to maintain the right body language, as
properly expressed, in its just-so-properdegreeofcare andempathy Icommendhis moves, now as smooth as those of a well-rehearsed dancer He dances into communities, dances through doorways, and dancesintovastexpansesof grief. And subdued fury
Whyandhow?
Whyandhowagainand again? This is where I start todepartfromPresidentAli. He is now less of a national leader, and more of a social worker
Soothing the mourning. Seeking to nurture trust
Trying to pierce a wall of respectfulresistance. Idon't think that he succeeds as muchashemayspurhimself intobelieving.
Because when the systems of governance have beensetupthewaytheyare, maneuvered into the places they occupy, under his leadership, then it is inevitable that some of the elements that characterized both Tuschen and Linden willflareintotheopen. The fury of the communities: depressed and destitute and
distraught. Even selfdestructive. The lapses in GPF judgments, and their aftermaths. Butagain, thisis more than where the GPF wentwrong.
The residents of those twocommunitiesdeepdown really were not too impressed with what were the equivalents of presidential night flights. I am glad that he did, and gladder that the grieving families were courteous to the office that walked over their thresholds. But this is bigger than the GPF It is bigger than the sum of the issues, areas, and failures that came into being under PresidentAli'shand. Bigger than Excellency Ali. The inequityofdoublestandards writ large and written all over the faces of Guyanese, held to be citizens of lesser standing, therefore of no account. Therefore, to be pushed around and walked over and kicked about, like somanyragged, cheapdolls. There is the unhearing and unmoving character of the presidency (that of Ali's) to the cries of injustice and
imbalance in the disposition of the ingredients that have thiscountrywhereitistoday For double emphasis, that unhearing and unmoving p r e s i d e n t i a l a n d governmental standard is unconscious, until there is a crisis in some forlorn place such as Tuschen or Linden. Before those, there was Cotton Tree, where two youngmenofsimilarstrains were murdered in the most gruesomeoffashion. Itwas PresidentAli's first test, and he is still to deliver what is convincing, possesses what people can hold on to, because there are some specks of the credible in his offerings, whatfollows.
The credible hasn't been. And,thus, hisvisitsto the new hotspots of Linden andTuschenreekofthesame attempts to present the presidential, but which comesacrosspoorly, merely a duty A duty to be done, andthenquicklymovingon, andleavingthesametwisted systems of government to takeover and carry on, as usual.

The president can offer and promise, and commit and swear oaths, but few are the Guyanese that believe in him. Orhavetheconfidence that he'll make good with a process that is clean, could be depended upon. Lives have been taken, and this is where the survivors are driven. For there is so little inwhatisgiven. Whatcould be given by President Ali, when all that Guyanese see are more coverup artists? When all that is lived with are more tricky operators? Whenthereisonlytheusual, viz., more circling of the wagons to protect the government's franchise, and itslawlesswayofmanaging the affairs of the Guyanese people.
To Excellency Ali, it is my duty to say: 'sir, put the right people in the right places, and Guyanese could start to believe.' Policies, procedures, and all those presidential proclamations pauperize the people and their interests. Stir their worst fears. Contribute to a torn, splitapartGuyana. No trust means that Guyanese believe that their president struggles with that hallowed title. For after the visits and solemnities, then whereto and what? Some may say that the more relevant, and quite rational questioniswho…. Whowill bethenexttragicvictimofa State run amok, one without moorings, one lacking a moralcompass? The protest erupted over the mysterious death of Youngeandyesterday'slong wait for the autopsy results added to the tension
Younge's body was discovered approximately 20 hours after she was reported missing from the swimming pool area of the Double Day Hotel in Tuschen, despite earlier searches of the premises. This sparked public outrage and questions over police conduct.

Endocrinologist Caleb McCloggan, speaking to reporters, explained that a full forensic autopsy was underway and would take approximately four hours instead of the usual 30 minutes due to the complexity of the examination. The autopsy began at 12:30 hrs and concluded at 16:30 hrs During the afternoon, three separate waves of unrest broke out. The first wave

NBA playoffs: Lakers coach JJ Redick's refusal to sub players in

Edwards scored 43 points — 16 in the fourth quarter — and added nine reboundsandsixassists, but itwasRedick'sdecisionthat wasperhapsthekeyfactor
Redicksaidpostgamehe decided to not sub out anyone during halftime, keeping the five-man lineup of LeBron James, Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, Dorian Finney-Smith and Rui Hachimura on the floor fortheentiretyofthesecond half.
"We certainly played well enough to win, and we gavetheefforttowin. It'snot
a planned thing to play five guys [for] an entire second half,"Redicksaid."[I]asked them at the beginning of the fourth quarter, told them we had two extra timeouts, if you need a sub let us know Thoseguysgavealot."
When asked if he was worried about overworking his players, Redick said he trusted them to speak up if they needed to come out.
"Once you've kind of made thatdecisionandtheyallare in, you've just gotta trust them,"hesaid.
The Lakers did open the second half with a 14-0 run and quieted the Minnesota homecrowd.
But the Timberwolves started to push back, fueled byastellarsecondhalffrom Edwards — and perhaps some fatigue on the Lakers' side.

leading to a Minnesota challenge and a lengthy review An overhead video angle made it clear James made contact with Edwards' wrist, resulting in a foul.
Edwards hit both free throws, giving the Timberwolves the 116-113 lead.

Finney-Smith added that he was also "always ready" but admitted that he didn't think they would use that strategyforGame5.
"Itwastough, youknow, but it's playoffs," FinneySmith said of playing the
entire second half. "I don't think nobody wanted to come out of the game anyway I don't think nobody's gonna use that as anexcuse."
And for James, the Lakers team leader said that he thought the team's second-half struggles had more to do with failing to take advantage of opportunities rather than tiring out. "I don't think fatigue had anything to do with it," he said "Just missing some point-blank shots."
TheLakerscertainlyhad a chance to win, but what many will be questioning is Redick's decision to ride the same five players for the entire second half The Lakers' lack of depth was alwaysgoingtobeaproblem this series, but Redick couldn't have been more clearaboutwhoonhisroster hetrusts.
