THE MAGISTRATE Thursday 17th January at 7pm Tickets: £10

8

With his louche air and a developed taste for smoking, gambling, port and women, it’s hard to believe Cis Farringdon is only fourteen. And that’s because he isn’t. Agatha his mother lopped five years from her true age and his when she married the amiable Posket.

Gyda’i agwedd drahaus a’i chwant am ysmygu, gamblo, port a merched, anodd i gredu mai dim ond 14 oed yw Cis Farringdon. A hynny gan ei fod yn 19. Tynnodd Agatha, ei fam, 5 mlynedd o’i oed ef, a’i hoed hithau, pan briododd hi yr hoffus Posket.

The imminent arrival of Cis’ godfather sends Agatha incognito to the Hôtel des Princes to warn him of her deception. But it’s also where her son has cajoled his otherwise staid stepfather into joining him for a binge. High-spirited carousing leads to a police raid and a night of outrageous mishap as the trapped guests make desperate attempts to conceal themselves from the law and from each other. Indignities escalate at court the next day where Posket, the police magistrate, must preside.

Gyda thad bedydd Cis ar fin cyrraedd, mae Agatha yn mynd i’r Hotel des Princes i’w rybuddio am ei thwyll. Yma hefyd mae ei mab wedi perswadio ei lys-dad tawedog i ymuno ag ef am sesiwn. Mae ‘r gloddesta yn arwain at ymweliad gan yr heddlu a noson o anffawd wrth i’r gwesteion wneud ymdrech i guddio’r gwir am eu hunain wrth y gyfraith a’i gilydd.

National Theatre Live

PEOPLE by Alan Bennett Thursday 21st March at 7.00pm Tickets: £10

One of Britain’s most celebrated playwrights, Alan Bennett (The History Boys, The Madness of King George screenplay), debuts his eagerly-anticipated new play. A sale? Why not? Release all your wonderful treasures onto the open market and they are there for everyone to enjoy. It’s a kind of emancipation, a setting them free to range the world… a saleroom here, an exhibition there; art, Lady Stacpoole, is a rover. People spoil things; there are so many of them and the last thing one wants is them traipsing through one’s house. But with the park a jungle and a bath on the billiard table, what is one to do? Dorothy wonders if an attic sale could be a solution.

Dyma ddrama newydd Alan Bennet, un o ddramodwyr mwyaf adnabyddus Prydain (The History Boys, The Madness of King George). Gwerthiant? Pam lai? Rhyddhewch eich trysorau i gyd i’r farchnad agored i bawb fwynhau. Math o ryddfreinio, eu rhyddhau i mewn i’r byd... gwerthiant fan hyn, arddangosfa fan draw. Mae pobol yn difetha pethau; mae ‘na ormod ohonynt, a’r peth diwethaf mae dyn eisiau yw iddynt fod yn troedio trwy ei dyˆ. Ond gyda pharc, jyngl a bath ar y bwrdd biliards, beth sydd i’w wneud? Mae Dorothy’n meddwl mai gwerthiant fyddai’r ateb.

National Theatre Live

THIS HOUSE Thursday 16th May Tickets: £10

A sharp and critically-acclaimed new play about the ruthless, fast-paced world of 1970s British politics. 1974. The UK faces economic crisis and a hung parliament. In a culture hostile to cooperation, it’s a period when votes are won or lost by one, when there are fist fights in the bars and when sick MPs are carried through the lobby to register their vote. Let those on the continent cooperate and hug and kiss each other on the ruddy cheek. Here in Britain, one party governs and we get things done.

nptartsandents.co.uk

0300 365 6677

Set in the engine rooms of Westminster, James Graham’s This House strips politics down to the practical realities of those behind the scenes: the whips who roll up their sleeves and on occasion bend the rules to shepherd and coerce a diverse chorus of MPs within the Mother of all Parliaments. This country is being kept alive on aspirin when what it needs is electric bloody shock therapy.

Drama nodedig newydd am fyd ddidostur a chyflym gwleidyddiaeth Prydain y 1970au. 1974. Mae’r DU yn gwynebu argyfwng economaidd a senedd grog. Mewn diwylliant sy’n elyniaethus i gydweithrediad, mae’n gyfnod pan mae pleidleisiau yn cael eu hennill neu’u colli gan un, mae ‘na ddyrnu yn y bar ac mae Aelodau Seneddol tost yn cael eu cario i’w seddau i bleidleisio. Gadewch i’r rhai ar y cyfandir gydweithredu a chusanu ei gilydd ar y boch. Yma ym Mhrydain, un parti sy’n llywodraethu ac mae pethau’n cael eu gwneud.

Wedi ei leoli yng nghanol San Steffan, mae This House yn edrych ar realiti pobl tu ôl i lenni gwleidyddiaeth: y chwipiau sy’n torchu eu llewys i blygu’r rheolau i orfodi’r aelodau yn y Senedd yma. Mae’r wlad yn cael ei chadw’n fyw gan asprin pan bod eisiau therapi sioc trydanol.

A WEEK OF WALLACE JUNE 15TH-22ND Alfred Russell Wallace was an explorer, anthropologist and biologist in the 19th century. Born in Usk, he spent a large part of his life in Neath before travelling the world gathering biological specimens. He eventually co-wrote a scientific paper on the Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection with Charles Darwin. 2013 marks the centenary of his death, and the Gwyn Hall will be the centre of a week long celebration of his life and work.

Company Casus Presents EXHIBITION:

ALFRED RUSSELL WALLACE – THE FORGOTTEN EVOLUTIONIST In 2007, artist Fred Langford Edwards was awarded a grant by The Wellcome Trust for a 30 month project to research and promote the contributions of Alfred Russell Wallace to the theories of Natural Selection and Evolution. In London on July 1st, 1858, at the first public reading of the Wallace and Darwin papers on Natural Selection, Wallace and Darwin were given equal status and recognition. Fred’s project is to generate artworks, publications and activities which will reinstate Wallace as a major contributor to the ideas and processes which explain how species gradually change to create new types of beings. Working with Dr George Beccaloni of the Natural History Museum, the project has taken Fred to the Amazon Basin and the Malay Archipelago. The resulting work explores the life, ideas, and surviving collections of Wallace, and the physical hardships he endured during his travels. This is a stunning photographic exhibition charting an important chapter in natural history. Fred returns to the Amazon to undertake further research in spring 2013 and this together with some of the previous work will be available on display in Gwyn Hall.

Family Friendly - 2 children for £1 each with full paying adult

Jesse Scott, Lachlan McAulay, Natano Fa’anana and Emma Serjeant Four performers explore the boundaries of strength and fragility. Bodies are pushed and pulled, weighed and tested, unlikely bonds are forged and acts of intimacy cohabit space with thrilling physical feats. Throughout this journey the artists reveal that delicacy does not necessarily equate to fragility, although it is often a fine line they tread. Knee Deep is a breathtaking display of humanity and incredible physical skill performed with raw emotion and honesty.

Pedwar perfformiwr yn ymchwilio i ffiniau cryfder ac eiddilwch. Caiff y cyrff eu gwthio a’u tynnu, eu pwyso a’u profi; ffurfir bondiau anhebygol, ac mae gweithrediadau o agosatrwydd yn rhannu ‘run gofod a champau corfforol gefreiddiol. Trwy gydol y daith hon, mae’r artistiaid yn datgelu nad yw tynerwch o reidrwydd yn gydradd ag eddilwch, er mai ffin denau mae nhw’n troedio yn aml. Mae Knee Deep yn arddangosfa anhygoel o ddynoliaeth a sgil corfforol eithriadol wedi eu plethu i greu perfformiad yn llawn emosiwn.
