Two sons are facing multiple charges “so far” of aggravated assault and arson after they allegedly tried to kill their parents at their Snellville home on Saturday morning, police have confirmed. Gwinnett County police said Yvonne Ervin called 911 at 7:49 a.m. to report that she and her husband, Zachary, were being attacked by their sons, Christopher, Cameron Ervin 22, and Cameron, 17, at 3061 Forbes Trail. She told the operator that the sons were trying to kill her and the husband. “She stated that her husband was distracting them so she was able to call for help,” police Christopher spokesman Sgt. Rich Ervin Long said in a statement. “The call eventually went silent.” Officers found one of the sons and the father when they arrived at the two-story brick home on a cul-de-sac in the Bridle Gate subdivision. The other son and the mother, who was seriously injured, were found inside the house. The father had been stabbed and was bleeding heavily with severe injuries, Long said. Both sons were taken into custody. Police declined to comment further on the specifics of the injuries, other than to say the parents are expected to survive. The motive is still under investigation. Saad Arij grew up wanting to be a star hitter. When he was 4, he joined throngs of kids in his native Pakistan who lined up to play the sport that many of their friends were playing, with dreams of someday making it to the big leagues. They grasped

the handle of their wooden bats and waited for the right pitch. They were ready to run for their lives when they got a great hit and hoped the opposing team wouldn’t tag them out. It could sound like any kid growing up playing baseball, but Arij grew up playing something different: cricket. “It’s such a big sport in Pakistan — it’s like in little league when you want to get your kid

involved in a sport outside of school, parents put their kids into cricket,” said Arij, who now lives in Lawrenceville. “You start off at a very young age back in the home country and just try to grow it from there.” Arij now plays the sport in metro Atlanta as part of the

8-year-old Atlanta Cricket League. Players from a wide area, including Suwanee, Lawrenceville, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell, Marietta, Smyrna and as far away as Clayton and Henry counties, have joined teams in the league since it began in 2007.
