TUCKER — Like most other neighborhood rivalries, the one between Berkmar and Meadowcreek has produced many intense athletic contests, especially football games, over the years. That intensity has occasionally boiled over into some hard feelings between the students and communities of the two west-central Gwinnett schools separated by less than four miles. That is something coaches and administrators from both schools are determined to

change as the Patriots and Mustangs prepare to meet on the football field for the first time in three years on Friday night at Meadowcreek High School. Some important steps in that direction were taken when players, coaches, cheerleaders, administrators and parents from both schools gathered Tuesday night at Lilburn Alliance Church for the first annual Unite Banquet. Gwinnett County commissioners rejected a controversial proposal to build a 56-acre development that would have included 300 apartments and 99 homes on Webb Gin House Road on Tuesday.
