LAWRENCEVILLE — There were porters, stouts and IPAs, Oktoberfests and pumpkin beers of every stripe. There was also a steady misting rain. The overcast and rainy weather didn’t deter some 2,000 people from pouring into the first Gwinnett Beer Fest on Saturday at Coolray Field. Nineteen of 32 members of the Snellville High School Class of 1955 gathered Saturday at Summit Chase Country Club. Several other relatives and friends of graduates also joined the event. “It’s just like family,” said Annett Britt, who passed around black and white pictures of classmates, teachers and trips to Washington. “We’re just like brothers and sisters. When one passes away, we’re all there to represent them.” They’ve met virtually every year since they graduated, which was two years before the school closed and was replaced by South Gwinnett High School.
