Twenty-six-year-old Suwanee resident Charity Witt knows the importance of perseverance. Nine years ago, after suffering a heart attack at work and subsequently being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, she was given a choice: at 17, undergo pacemaker surgery and be on medication the rest of her life, or get in shape and stop “abusing (her) body by working 80 hours a week.” She chose the latter, and though her road to health hasn’t always been an easy one, because Witt never gave up, she’s now able to control her heart arrhythmia

Lake Lanier is full — more than full actually. As storms have moved through the area, with a fresh round of rain expected to come through today, Lanier is close to 5 feet above its full pool level of 1,071 feet. The lake started March at 1,075.65 feet on Friday. At some docks, such as one at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, that has left the part of the dock that connects to the shore underwater. Projections posted on the Army Corps of Engineers website call for the lake to start around 1,076 feet this week and then drop about 1.3 feet over the upcoming week. That matches up with National Weather Service forecasts that call for up to three-fourths of an inch of rain to fall today, followed by at least four days of sunshine. “The ground is just saturated. If we get any more rain, it has nowhere to go,” David Chandley, the chief meteorologist at Daily Post news partner FOX 5 Atlanta, reported this past week. “We saw that kind of into (last) weekend on your Saturday into Sunday night and we’re going to see more rain down the pike. “So, areas like Lake Lanier, that are well above full pool, will continue to be that way until we can get a string
