A group of local hospitality officials recently went head-tohead with a vampire at Netherworld’s new location near Stone Mountain. The group was participating in Netherworld’s “Nosferatu” escape game, where participants pretend to be in early 1900s London and have one hour to solve a case assigned to them by “Van Helsing.” In order to do so, they had to work together to

solve a series of puzzle games as they made their way through the room and defeat Nosferatu. Along the way, a voice guided them and offered a limited number of clues to help them if they were stuck. “It was really fun — it was definitely hard, but it was fun (and) worth it in the end,” said Homewood Suites on Sugarloaf representative Constance

The Gwinnett Daily Post won five first-place awards in the Georgia Press Association’s 2018 Better Newspaper Contest, garnering 12 honors overall, including a second-place finish for General Excellence. The awards were given out Friday night during the GPA’s annual convention held at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. Sports Editor Will Hammock earned two first-place awards and the Daily Post was honored with first-place finishes for best sports section and for lifestyles coverage. Web operations manager Jason Braverman also took top honors, winning for best photo gallery on the web for his work from Super Bowl LI in Houston. “It was a great all-around showing by our staff,” said Todd Cline, editor of the Gwinnett Daily Post and vice president of content for the paper’s parent company Southern Community Newspapers Inc. “I’m proud of the paper being honored in the General Excellence category. I appreciate the work our reporters and copy editors put in on a daily basis, and it’s nice to see them recognized for their talents.” The Daily Post competes in the top division — Division A — that features papers with a circulation of 18,000 or larger. The General Excellence recognition comes from the paper’s total awards haul. In addition to earning top honors for
