After two and a half years in Duluth, Uncle Jack’s Meat House owner Willie Degel is pretty happy about where his operation in Georgia is at, but he’s also really happy about his upcoming expansion plans for the area. He’s so happy, in fact, that he’s talking about moving to Georgia in the coming years. Just this week, Peachtree Corners officials approved designs for the Uncle Jack’s Meat House, which is expected to break ground in late March at the front of the city’s Town Center development. Meanwhile, the Revel development will break ground next to the Duluth location this year and Degel is expecting a 25 percent boost

Local philanthropist Clyde Strickland and representatives of Atlanta Prayer Partners are planning to draw attention this week to one phrase that is uttered near the end of the Pledge of Allegiance this week. “One nation under God.” Strickland is spearhead-

The event will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lawrenceville Lawn, located at 210 Luckie St. Participants will march to the Lawrenceville Square and back. will join Strickland in headlining the event. “‘One Nation Under God’ welcomes the public to join in a peaceful, celebratory march to declare their faith and belief that
America is one nation under God,” event spokeswoman Sallie Boyles said. “Country music star Ricky Lee will perform, and members of the clergy will lead the gathering in
prayer. Clyde will also offer some words of inspiration.” Strickland has not been shy about discussing his religious beliefs. He and his wife, Sandra, have pointed to their faith in the past as being a guiding factor in their philanthropic efforts in the community. Last year, Strickland authored a book, “What Can I Do?”, about miracles that he has seen in his life and
attributes to God. “It always humbles me and brightens my heart to know that God called me to this discipleship and carry the cross for him,” Strickland told attendees at a book signing last year. Lee, who is from Nashville, Tenn., expressed enthusiasm about getting the chance to come to Lawrenceville and participate in the event.
