HOUSTON — Atlanta Falcons apparel was scarce Thursday as the masses gathered and partied in downtown Houston. Texans gear was everywhere, not a shocker for the host city, and New England Patriots jerseys outnumbered fans in red and black. Atlanta attire was seen about as regularly as NFL fans of other teams like the Packers, Broncos, Steelers and Raiders. By Friday, Falcons fans began to rise up. They turned out in even larger numbers Saturday, a day before the second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, giving Atlanta a large rooting section for its showdown with New England. “I’m 48 years old and I can remember as a child watching the Falcons,” said native

If the light hit it just the right way, the purple looked a bit like velvet. “Has anybody seen the coat that the new Citizen of the Year is wearing? If you haven’t seen it, you’re gonna think he shops at Goodwill,” Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle said jokingly before saying Russell was a good friend of his. “Mr. Lieutenant Governor, it’s a historic night tonight,” said Kaiser Permanente Manager of Government and Community Relations Trey Ragsdale later as he prepared to present the award to Russell. “Seventy years of the Chamber of Commerce.
