U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall will not be seeking re-election in the 2020 election cycle, leaving next year’s race for the 7th Congressional District wide open with candidates and both political parties already making moves for 2020. Woodall, a Republican, has represented the 7th Congressional District since he was first elected in 2010 and Rob Woodall recently won a narrow re-election with a recount needed to confirm his victory over Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux. He had also been hounded by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee

The 22nd annual North Atlanta Home Show is back again this weekend, this year featuring the founders of global lifestyle brand Madcap Cottage. Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke will speak at 2 and 4 p.m. today, the show’s opening day, and again on Saturday at 2 and 5 p.m. at the show, which is once again being held at Duluth’s Infinite Energy Center. Their presentation, From Drab to Fab: How to Transform Your Home with Prints and Patterns, will focus on their passion for prints and patterns, and the two will offer free, private two-minute consultations after each presentation. “If you are looking for beige and boring, bark up someone else’s tree,” Nixon said. “We live and breathe ‘whimsy,’ but our projects are bespoke, sophisticated and perfectly catered to our clients’

aving been born just two years before the Rexall Grill opened, the popular Duluth restaurant has been a part of Chris Nantz’s life for as long as he can remember. As he sat at the diner’s counter after eating lunch Thursday, he pointed to some of the booths near the front and recalled coming to the restaurant with his family as a kid in the 1970s. Not only can he still rattle off his regular childhood order, but also how much it cost. “I’d sit over there and get a cheeseburger, a bag of potato chips and a Coca-Cola for $1.20,” Nantz said. The Rexall Grill, which is still at the spot at 3165 Buford Highway where it was founded, will reach a major milestone this weekend when it turns 50 years old on Saturday. Owner Lynda Alley said the restaurant — which only serves breakfast and lunch — will mark the occasion by offering meals at half price today and Saturday and by offering free small desserts. A lot has happened since

Braves won a World Series, the 9/11 terrorist attacks happened and Barack Obama became the first African-American elected president. But the Rexall Grill has remained a gathering spot celebrities and average Joes alike. Its draw over the years has
