The head of the new organization tasked with tackling homelessness in Gwinnett is asking county leaders for funding to proceed with a nearly $1 million plan to combat the

Gwinnett County Senior Services is coming to Grayson and Snellville. County commissioners approved agreements with the cities on Tuesday to take over senior centers in each municipality to expand congregate meals services and relieve demand on the Centerville Senior Center. Each center is expected to open in March with federal funding that will be coming to the county through the Atlanta Regional Commission. “I know we all want to say a word of thanks to both the city of Snellville

Snellville resident and former NBA player Mike Glenn will turn into a fanboy over plenty of famous athletes of the past, but if there is one that rises to the top of the group, he said it’s got to be Muhammad Ali. Glenn evoked the words of the famed boxer, known as much for his panache and charisma outside the ring as he was for his prowess inside it, when he called Ali “the greatest.” He quickly adds that he’s also a fan of two other boxing champions, Jack Johnson and Tom Molineaux, but he says no other athlete in any sport could quite match Ali. The legendary boxer who boasted that he could “float like a butterfly and sting like a bee” is, in Glenn’s mind, the GOAT — sports talk meaning “greatest of all-time.” “I’m pretty convinced there is just one GOAT,” Glenn said. “Now you’ve got all of these athletes trying to claim he’s the GOAT, but there’s only one. ‘Greatest’ is a superlative that only one person can have. There’s no greater than this one or that one. “It’s ‘the greatest’ and there’s one greatest in my exhibit and one greatest in American history and that’s Muhammad Ali.”

A car that was fleeing Lawrenceville police crashed into an above-ground gas valve early Friday morning, causing a fire that closed Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville for several hours. According to Lawrenceville Police Department spokesman Nashawn Lt. Jake Parker, shortly Wiggins before 3:20 a.m., officers attempted to stop 24-year-old Lawrenceville resident Nashawn Wiggins for
