Three Gwinnett residents accused of brutally attacking two men in two separate armed robberies over the weekend have been charged in connection with the crimes, one of which led to the victim’s death. Glenda Carter, 20, of Lawrenceville and brothers Russell Williams, 22, of Lawrenceville and Zarius Williams, 21, of Dacula were charged with felony murder, Glenda Carter armed robbery and aggravated assault after police said they attacked 32-year-old Dacula resident Marcos Guerra with a baseball bat on Friday night and 48-year-old Jefferson resident Simon Fuentes on Sunday Russell afternoon. Williams Detectives believe the motive for the attacks was robbery, as neither victim knew one another or the suspects. According to Cpl. Michele Pihera, spokeswoman for the Gwinnett County Police Zarius Department, detectives Williams began investigating after officers were dispatched, at about 10:15 p.m. Friday to the Lealand Place Apartments in unincorporated Lawrenceville for reports of “suspicious activity.” “When officers arrived, they found a Hispanic male, later identified as Guerra, with significant injuries to his face,” Pihera said. “Marcos was unconscious ... (and his) wallet and cellphone were missing.” Guerra was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where doctors attempted to treat his “serious facial injuries and head trauma,” Pihera said.
