Gwinnett police have charged a man who they believe is responsible for several Snellville home invasions, one of which led to the shooting death of a father earlier this month. As many as 70 restaurants and retail shops could be part of the Revel development at the Infinite Energy Center, according to an official at the firm that is developing the project. North American Properties, which also created Avalon in Alpharetta and is behind the redevelopment of Colony Square in Atlanta, is looking at breaking ground next spring or summer, with construction expected to take about 18 months to complete.

Thirty percent of Gwinnett County Public Schools teachers will receive onetime monetary awards a little more than a year from now — but which educators receive those awards will depend on how their students do this year. Superintendent Alvin Wilbanks talked at length about the district’s new “performance-based
awards” during his State of the School System Address to the Gwinnett Chamber on Wednesday. The new program is part of the district’s efforts to address a national issue of district’s struggling to retain teachers.
