Lawrenceville residents DJ and Summer Slaughter don’t remember when the Spin Doctors first made it big. They couldn’t. The couple was born in 1993, the same year the band released its hit song, “Two Princes,” as a single. That didn’t stop them from being excited about the band’s appearance at Suwanee’s August Concert and Wingfest at Town Center Park on Saturday night, though. In fact, the band was the main reason the couple — who are big fans of 1990s music — came to the event. “We were excited when we found out they were coming,” DJ said. “We immediately had to come here.” The Slaughters were among the thousands of people who came

About 10 vendors — all from Suwanee — provided wings, and Suwanee Park Tavern won the People’s Choice Award. “It’s a community favorite for sure,” Assistant City Manager Denise Brinson said. “Folks talk about it a lot, and it’s become a regular thing. What’s great about it, since we started doing it, is that since we started doing it, it’s become a tradition for a lot of families and groups of friends that come every year.” This year marked the 14th annual August Concert for Suwanee, but it’s the fourth year that the Wingfest has been part of the See WINGFEST, Page 5A
