DULUTH — The purported ringleader of a robbery crew charged with the murder of a Duluth man has been arrested. Brian Joseph Brewner, 28, was booked into the Gwinnett County jail at about 2:20 p.m. Monday and charged with murder and armed robbery. Duluth
police believe he is responsible for organizing the drugrelated home invasion that left 37-yearBrian Joseph old Adam Brewner Schrier dead inside his family’s home on Summercrest Lane. Brewner’s arrest means
four of the five named suspects have been detained. According to police, the robbery crew entered Schrier’s home early on the morning of Aug. 6. A struggle ensued and Schrier was shot and killed, while his fiancee and her 8-year-old daughter were shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Authorities believe 21-year-old Devon Jenkins — who was apprehended
Friday following a twohour SWAT standoff in Lawrenceville — was the gunman. According to arrest warrants, Brewner “set up the armed robbery” by sending Jenkins and two other men to Schrier’s home. He also is accused of acting as the getaway driver. Duluth police have said little about the case but believe it was “motivated by involvement in illegal
narcotics.” A total of five men have been charged in the crime: Brewner; Jenkins; Pierre Cedric Scott, 30; Jonathan Julius Pichardo, 26; and James Leroy Stokes, 28. With Scott apprehended on Aug. 26 and Pichardo in the DeKalb County jail on unrelated charges, Stokes is the only suspect yet to be detained. Jenkins has been charged with malice mur-
der, felony murder, armed robbery and two counts aggravated assault. The rest are charged with single counts of felony murder and armed robbery. Authorities will reportedly attempt to charge a sixth suspect, whose identity has not been released, via indictment. Jenkins, Brewner and Scott are due in court Sept. 19 for a preliminary hearing.
