Seasonal Events with Lilburn Woman’s Club By Julie Thompson GwinnettCitizen.com
Athens Ortho welcomes Dr. Hadi page 7
Seasonal Events with Lilburn Woman’s Club Candy corn, fudge, hot cocoa and more await those who attend the upcoming seasonal events held by Lilburn Woman’s Club. A registered nonprofit, Lilburn Woman’s Club (LWC) organizes numerous events every year to provide fun occasions for local families and to fundraise for its many community projects. Some compare LWC to a big sorority — today, it joins 67 women between the ages of 30 and 70 with a common interest of community involvement. The women Special Photo chair nine programs — Art, Education, Lilburn Women’s Club. Book Club, and Domestic Violence to name a few — and they offer four annual scholarships to help local youth get a headstart on their college careers. The Club has grown since it was chartered under the Georgia Federation of Women’s Clubs in 1973, and it has a legacy of improving lives and places in the city of Lilburn. “Everything is local, so we are really a part of the community,” Co-President Trish Biemiller said. “We actually got the ball going to set up the first library in Lilburn.”

By Julie Thompson GwinnettCitizen.com Eastside Medical celebrated the opening of its fourth Urgent Care Center in Grayson with an open house and ribbon cutting on Aug 29, 2018. The Center is open for business and provides accessible care referred to as “On Demand Care.” Standing outside 2594 Loganville Hwy, Suite 101, one would hardly notice anything out of the
ordinary about the care center. There’s the navy blue logo that tells visitors the center is under the umbrella of Eastside Medical Center. But what’s unique is what goes on inside. With a new x-ray room and an extended lab, the Center treats a distinct set of conditions and has adopted a speedy process for attending patients. During the open house, Samir Bhatia, President of Eastside Urgent Care, explained that Urgent Care Centers are unlike Primary or

As schools gear up to serve record numbers of students in Gwinnett County, they can always use additional resources to stretch their limited budgets. September is the month that Rotary International has chosen to promote education and literacy. I shopped with my daughter while we were vacationing at the beach last month so that she could find items for her fifth-grade class to make learning more fun. She used her money and her vacation time because she cares enough about children she doesn’t even know yet to increase their chances of having a successful year. She was also texting with some of her teacher friends to see if they wanted her to pick up spe-
