Onward and Upward THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS is committed to advancing and expanding the scope of business knowledge for the good of individuals, society and the world. I believe that we are fulfilling that commitment, as measured by our dedicated faculty’s outstanding instructional and groundbreaking research efforts, our student body’s love of learning and thirst for knowledge, and our alumni’s remarkable achievements in virtually every field of endeavor.

So much of what we do together at GWSB, and so much of what we have accomplished, is directly attributable to the continued strong support of the School’s generous donors, including faculty, staff, students and their families, corporations and organizations and, most of all, alumni. Your contributions are the lifeblood of GWSB. Your support allows GWSB to both maintain and enhance its standing as “a different kind of business school”— one that leverages its unique Washington, D.C., location at the crossroads of business and public policy, with an emphasis on ethics and sustainability that informs our curriculum and the research conducted by GWSB faculty. GWSB is dedicated to educating future generations of business leaders to do well and do good. In short, we’re committed to the idea of better business for a better world.

GWSB was listed 45th in the U.S. News & World Report ranking of online healthcare MBAs. GWSB was 38th in The Economist’s 2013 evaluation of full-time MBA programs.

U.S. News & World Report ranked GWSB 65th for fulltime MBA programs in its 2014 rankings, with the international business program ranked 19th and part-time MBA program ranked 61st.

The magazine ranked the GWSB undergraduate program 38th and its undergraduate international business program 11th in the U.S. The 2014 ranking by the Princeton Review ranked GWSB among the Top 5 for “greatest opportunity for women,” 8th for “Best Green MBA,” and as one of the Top 25 graduate schools in entrepreneurship.

The Financials Times’ 2013 rankings put GWSB 41st among U.S. business schools, 7th for corporate social responsibility/ ethics and 84th worldwide.

Message from the Executive Director

T

he F. David Fowler Career Center experienced another year of continued success, assisting more students than ever before through its customized programming and partnerships with the business community.

The Fowler Career Center started the year off with a bang, as GWSB jumped 12 places to 59th (out of 132 ranked schools) in the Bloomberg Businessweek “Best Undergraduate Business Schools” ranking. The improvement was partially due to the impressive performance of GWSB students in the employment market, with nearly 90 percent receiving relevant internships, and graduating seniors earning a median salary of $55,000 (21st among ranked schools).

The success continued with the second annual Career Week, a series of events designed to accelerate students’ job-market readiness while engaging faculty, staff, alumni and employers to help position them to compete successfully for employment opportunities. This year Career Week received a title sponsor and was renamed “Career Week presented by the Shenkman Career Services Fund,” as its many events were made possible, in part, by the generous gift donated by GW Board of Trustees member Mark R. Shenkman, MBA ’67, and his wife Rosalind. This gift will help the Fowler Career Center enhance existing programming, while preparing GWSB students to manage their careers for many years to come. Career Week also featured an enhanced level of alumni

participation.

Alumni-employers visited campus to share with students their industryspecific knowledge through panel presentations and one-on-one interviews.

Our career courses for undergraduates and graduate students were expanded this year to include more industryspecific sections for undergraduate students and an online career course developed for the Online MBA and Global MBA programs.

The online career course provides those who are not able to visit our office the opportunity to start their career planning, while those on campus receive a powerful resource of fundamentals before meeting with our career coaches.

The ability to access the course and its supplementary materials 24/7 from anywhere in the world gives GWSB students the ability to efficiently manage their careers.

The online course takes students through all of the phases of the career-management cycle, from self-assessment to accepting a job and transitioning to the workplace, and provides them the tools and training for successful, lifelong career management.

The Real Estate Finance Alliance (REFA) Mentoring Program grew in size and continued its record of employment success while building a community of students, alumni and employers devoted to the career success of students with a passion for the real estate and finance industries. Leveraging the success of the REFA Mentoring Program, we are adding new mentoring initiatives in the coming year, starting with the consulting career track. Our aim is to slowly expand these types of programs to broaden the positive experience for students pursuing a variety of career interests.

The F. David Fowler Career Center launched the second year of the Fowler Student Coordinator Program, which is designed to broaden

outreach to undergraduate students and provide greater opportunities for student engagement with the Career Center. This past year, 18 Fowler coordinators, led by a team of undergraduate career coaches, conducted a targeted outreach to over 350 freshmen and transfer students. Through a partnership with the Undergraduate Programs office, Fowler coordinators visited 20 sections of the FirstYear Development Program (FYDP) and Transfer Student Development Course (TSDC) to deliver presentations on creating a business resume, writing a cover letter and developing networking skills. By conducting follow-up

peer-review sessions and providing customized feedback, the Fowler coordinators ensured that freshmen and transfer students built a strong foundation in job-search skills.

Additionally, in the spring 2015 semester, Fowler coordinators led D.C. career treks, visiting finance, marketing and consulting firms to enhance student knowledge and career decision making.

As we look back on 2014, we realize that many of our accomplishments were due in large part to a productive collaboration among students, faculty, alumni, employers, FDFCC staff and the GWSB administration.

Our plans for 2015 include

continuing to draw upon the innovative ideas, wisdom and work of all GWSB stakeholders to build a community of support that will facilitate successful careers for both our students and alumni. n June 2014, the George Washington University publicly launched Making History: The Campaign for GW. The Campaign for GW is an ambitious and comprehensive $1 billion philanthropic campaign to carry the University to the future outlined in Vision 2021, GW’s dynamic strategic plan.

The talented students of GW will be able to capitalize on the School’s unmatched location, faculty and relationships with influential organizations to produce historic achievements on a truly global scale.

The School of Business has a $75 million goal for the campaign.

Within the framework of the overall campaign, GWSB is uniquely poised to respond to challenges and opportunities at the intersection of business, government and society. We are offering a 21stcentury business school education that meets the evolving needs of faculty and students.

Our curriculum and vision also incorporate the three pillars of the

Endowments provide scholarships and fellowships for talented students, attract and retain the best faculty, fund breakthrough research initiatives and support innovative co-curricular programs. We are proud to recognize the individuals, families and organizations making gifts to sustain excellence at the School of Business.

FELLOWSHIPS Bank of America Graduate Fellowship in Entrepreneurship

This endowment fund was established in 1999 by NationsBank (now known as Bank of America). Income earned by this fund supports fellowships for graduate students working in the Center for Advancement of Small Business at the George Washington University.

General John W. Vessey Graduate Fellowship

This endowment was established in 2007 by General John W. Vessey, USA (Ret.). Income from this fund will provide support for graduate students in the George Washington University School of Business with preference given to disabled U.S. veterans.

Joseph Fleischman Fellowship in Real Estate Studies

This endowment was established in 2007 by Julius Fleischman in honor of his father, the late Joseph Fleischman, in recognition of his accomplishments and success in real estate ventures. The income from this fund will provide an endowed fellowship that supports students pursuing an education in real estate studies and its related fields.

Marvin L. Kay Fellowship in Finance

This endowment fund was established in 1986 by emeritus trustee Marvin L. Kay, BA ’50. The income earned by this fund provides annual fellowship awards to students. These awards are to be known as “The Marvin L. Kay Fellowship in Finance.” Recipients will be enrolled in the School of Business pursuing the Master of Business Administration degree, concentrating in the area of finance. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic promise with due consideration given to financial need. Students may receive awards in successive years, at the option of the university, and the university may establish standards of academic performance required for the continuation of awards.

CHAIRS AND PROFESSORSHIPS The Avram S. Tucker Endowed Chair in Strategy and Leadership

Benjamin Franklin Professorship Fund

A transfer of funds from the former Ford Foundation Professorship Fund in 1988 and the Benjamin Franklin University Endowment Fund in 1989 created this endowment. Income earned by the fund supports a position that participates in a joint curricular program in taxation between the School of Business and GW Law.

The Donna (Medeck) Gokhale and Julian M. Gokhale Endowment Fund

This fund was established in 2013 by the estate of Donna M. Gokhale, GWSB BCS ’51, and Julian M. Gokhale. The fund will provide annual support for the Benjamin Franklin Professorship at the George Washington University (80 percent of fund distributions) and for annual need-based or meritbased scholarship support for students in the School of Business at the undergraduate or graduate levels (20 percent of fund distributions).

Dwight D. Eisenhower Professorship of Tourism Policy Endowed Chair

This endowment fund was established in 1989 by the J. Willard Marriott Foundation in honor of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The income earned by this fund is to provide perpetual funding support for a senior professor who would provide leadership for the academic, research and public service endeavors related to the graduate program in Tourism Administration. The chair shall be designated as a professorship of tourism policy.

John D. Teller Endowment Fund

Created in 1949 by bequest of John D. Teller, and added to by Mary Teller, in memory of her brother, John DuBois Teller. The fund was designated in 2004 as the match for the Thaddeus Lindner and Sergius Gambal Professorship in Business Ethics.

Oliver T. Carr, Jr. Professorship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1986 by Oliver T. Carr, Jr. Honorary Doctor of Public Service, 1998. The income earned by this fund supports a faculty position known as the Oliver T. Carr, Jr. Professorship of Urban and Regional Development. The professorship is to be based in the School of Business.

This fund was established in 2011 by Avram S. Tucker, GWSB ‘77. This fund will create an endowed chair position that shall be used to recruit and retain an outstanding senior faculty member for the GW School of Business and will be designated at the discretion of the dean of the School of Business. This position will be filled according to the standards of the university and its implementation of best practices in the field.

Thaddeus A. Lindner and Sergius Gambal Professorship in Business Ethics at The George Washington University School of Business

This endowment was established in 2004 by A. James Clark in honor of two distinguished alumni, Thaddeus A. Lindner, BA ‘51, and Sergius Gambal, BA ‘52. The income earned by this fund supports in full or in part the salary and benefits of a distinguished professor of business who will teach, among other courses, a dedicated course on business ethics.

Tourism Administration Professorship

Created in 1990 by transfer of funds from the Ford Foundation Professorship Fund. The income supports a chair in Tourism Administration.

PROGRAMS Annette and Richard Scott Business Plan Competition

This fund was established in 2008 by Annette and Richard Scott. The income earned by this fund will fund a Business Plan Competition that would provide our students with the opportunity to develop criticalthinking business skills and marketable ventures. It will also strategically enhance the university’s rising reputation as an environment of entrepreneurship and enterprise.

Abdallah Family Endowment

This endowment fund was established in 1999, and amended in 2002, by Mr. and Mrs. Mahmoud M. Abdallah. The income earned by this fund should be divided equally between the deans of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and the Milken Institute School of Public Health for the purpose of supporting undergraduate student services.

Arthur and Judith Mintz Undergraduate Leadership Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1995 by Mr. Arthur S. Mintz, BA ‘66, and Mrs. Judith Mintz, BA ‘68. The income earned by this fund supports undergraduate leadership development programs for students enrolled in the George Washington University School of Business.

The Charles and Karyn Bendit Fund for Real Estate

This fund was established in 2011 by Charles R. Bendit, BBA ‘75, and The Bendit Family Foundation. Income earned by this fund will provide support for education, research, travel and co-curricular activities for faculty teaching and conducting research in the area of real estate as part of the Department of Finance. Income from this fund will also be provided to students taking courses in real estate or pursuing studies in preparation for a career in real estate in the undergraduate or graduate program in the School of Business. The awarding of these funds will be at the discretion of the dean in conjunction with the Oliver T. Carr, Jr. Professor of Real Estate and Finance. The Charles and

Karyn Bendit Fund for Real Estate’s annual income, in accordance with the university’s endowment policy, will be spent at the discretion of the dean, in consultation with the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The Richard W. Blackburn Endowed Lecture on Civility and Integrity

This fund was established in 2013 by Richard W. Blackburn, JD ‘67. The income earned by this fund will establish and support an endowed lecture on civility and honor as part of the annual Honorloquium event for all GWSB freshmen. The lecture will invite a prominent keynote speaker to address themes related to the importance of civility in discourse and honor in business conduct.

Charles B. Thornton Business Technology Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1989 from prior years’ gifts from the Thornton Foundation. Income earned by this fund supports purchases relating to technological advances with teaching and research.

Craig F. Brown Special Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1991 by the estate of the late Craig F. Brown. Income earned by this fund is to be used at the discretion of the Dean of the School of Business.

Cybernetics Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1985 by Dr. Stuart A. Umpleby. Income earned by this fund supports lectures, conferences and graduate student assistance related to the Cybernetics program.

Doris M. Carter Family Foundation Endowed Fund for the F. David Fowler Career Center

This endowment fund was established in 2010 by the Doris M. Carter Family Foundation. Income from this fund will support the programs and activities of the F. David Fowler Career Center at the GW School of Business and the GW Career Center.

Erik K. Winslow and Deana and Gerald Stempler Research Fund This endowment fund was established in 1992 by Dr. Gerald Stempler. Income earned by this fund supports research in family and/or entrepreneurial enterprises.

Finance Research Endowment

The Department of Finance established this endowment fund in 2003. Income earned by this fund is used to support programs and activities in the area of finance.

Helen Pumphrey Denit and Louis Malvern Denit Endowment Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1992 by the Helen P. Denit Trust for Charitable and Educational Purposes. Income supports any purpose within the School of Business. It is the general intention of the trust that this fund endows a professorship in business in the future.

Howard P. Hoffman Lectures in Entrepreneurship

This endowment fund was established in 1986, and amended most recently in 2010, by Howard P. Hoffman, BA ’50 and Trustee Emeritus of the George Washington University. Current income is designated for use toward costs of lectures including, but not limited to, honoraria, travel costs, publicity and printed materials, and social events associated with the lectures, at the discretion of the dean of the School of Business. The fund was amended in 2007 to expand the designated use of the income to include direct support of students involved in the lectures and entrepreneurship initiatives approved by the dean or the dean’s designate. The student support may include, but is not limited to, prizes, competitions and awards. In 2010, it was agreed that any remaining unallocated earnings from this fund shall be used at the discretion of the Department of Management in conjunction with the Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence (CFEE) and/or the Office of the Dean or the dean’s designate for the express purpose of supporting entrepreneurship at the School of Business.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Wendell Crain Fund for Excellence This endowment fund was established in 1986 by gifts of various donors, as well as matching gifts from Mr. and Mrs. J. Wendell Crain. Income earned by this fund is restricted to supporting the expanding alumni and development activities in GWSB.

John A. Owen Scottish Rite Fund

A bequest by John A. Owen, received in 1974, established this endowment fund. Income earned by this fund supports the School of Business.

Marion L. Farmer Special Fund

The income earned by this fund will be expended at the discretion of the Dean of the School of Business to help meet the needs of the school.

Parents Campaign Philanthropy Board Endowed Fund to Support the F. David Fowler Career Center

This endowment was established in 2010 by the Parents Campaign Philanthropy Board. Income from this fund will provide support for the programs and activities of the School of Business’s F. David Fowler Career Center.

Phillip D. Grub Faculty Endowment Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1994 by gifts in honor of Professor Emeritus Phillip D. Grub. Income earned by this fund supports faculty research to expand knowledge and understanding of the global business environment.

Professor Chei-Min Paik Endowment Fund in Business

This fund was established in 2008 by Chei-Min and Inja Paik and amended in 2010. The income earned from this fund will provide for the recognition of achievements (such as awards and papers) in original research on accounting and other business issues by students of the GW School of Business and support other academic activities (such as research and conferences) by GWSB faculty.

Robert P. Maxon Endowment Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1999

by Dorothy Maxon in memory of her husband, Robert P Maxon. Income earned by this fund supports programs in the School of Business in the area of international business.

Ramsey Student Investment Fund in the GW School of Business

In 2005, GW Trustee W. Russ Ramsey, BBA ‘81, and Norma G. Ramsey established this endowment fund, which is maintained separately from the University’s Pooled Endowment. The fund was established as part of the School of Business academic programming and managed by business students as part of their degree programs, with supervision by the chief investment officer of the university.

SCHOLARSHIPS Anna Wunderman Fund

This endowment was established in 2007 by Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Neuwirth. This fund provides assistance, based on financial need, to an undergraduate at the George Washington University.

Carruthers Family MBA Scholarship

This endowment fund was established in 2009 by James L. Carruthers, Jr., MBA ’80, to provide an MBA scholarship for a student enrolled in the full-time Global MBA program at the School of Business.

Christopher and Constance Young Scholarship in Accountancy

This endowment was established in 2006 by Christopher Young, BBA ‘80, MAccty ‘83. Income earned by this fund provides scholarship monies to undergraduate students pursuing studies towards a career in accountancy.

Chung Mong Jin Family Scholarship Fund

This fund was established in 2011 by Chung Mong Jin, MBA ‘86. This fund will provide a need-based scholarship for an undergraduate student in the School of Business.

Daewoo Corporation Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1988 by the Daewoo Corporation. Income earned by this fund supports scholarship awards for full-time students majoring in business administration in the School of Business who are citizens of the People’s Republic of China.

Daewoo Vietnamese Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1994 by the Daewoo Corporation. Income earned by this fund shall be used exclusively to support Vietnamese citizens pursuing masters or doctoral degrees at the George Washington University School of Business. Eligibility in both masters and doctoral programs will be for candidates in the following fields of study: accountancy, finance, information systems, international science and technology, and marketing.

David S. Cohen Scholarship in Business

This fund was established in 2007 by Mr. David S. Cohen. The income earned by this fund will provide scholarship monies to undergraduate students in the School of Business.

Dean James Carlton Dockeray Memorial Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1989 by Dr. Karl E. Stromsem in honor of Dean James Carlton Dockeray. The income earned by this fund provides scholarships for full or part time graduate students working toward degrees in either finance or public administration and will be selected on the basis of financial need.

Derrel Waldroupe Memorial Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1988

by Baxter Healthcare Corporation in memory of Derrel Waldroupe. The income earned by this fund provides scholarships for financially underprivileged undergraduate students in the computer science discipline who are interested in careers in healthrelated professions. Eligible students may be majors in computer science in the School of Engineering and Applied Science or in management sciences in the School of Business who are interested in pursuing a career in the health professions. Alternatively, recipients may be majoring in one of the health sciences programs within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, with a concentration in computers and management information. Recipients must be full-time students with demonstrated financial need.

Eugene Poncelet and Isabel Poncelet Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1989 by Eugene Poncelet for the “Poncelet Scholarships.”

Income earned by this fund shall be used for scholarships for full-time students seeking graduate degrees in the School of Business who have a demonstrated interest in the affairs of the European Union. Students who are Belgian citizens will be given primary consideration for the scholarship.

Frate Bull, Jr. Scholarship Fund

This endowment was established in 2004 through the proceeds from the estate of Frate Bull, Jr. Income earned by this fund supports students in the School of Engineering and Applied Science or in the School of Business.

Gary C. Granoff and Leslie Granoff Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1986 by Gary C. Granoff, Esq., and Leslie Granoff. The income from this fund shall be used to assist students in need of financial aid to receive an annual scholarship that will help them attend the university. Awards should be made to students who will take courses in art, art history, business, accounting or who are attending the Law School.

This endowment fund was established in 1998 by the Gene R. Cohen Charitable Foundation. The income earned by this fund provides financial assistance to students pursuing entrepreneurial studies and/or funds the development of programs designed to foster entrepreneurship.

Howard Kahn Undergraduate Scholarship Fund This endowment fund was established in 2001 by the estate of Howard Kahn. Income earned by this fund supports undergraduate scholarships in the School of Business.

Hyundai Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1983 by the Hyundai Business Group of Korea. The income earned by this fund supports scholarships in the School of Business.

J. Willard Marriott Foundation Scholarship Fund

Lucy Kim Whitcombe Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

This fund is established to provide annual need-based or merit-based scholarship support for GW students in the School of Business, with preference given to students who are Korean nationals or Korean-American students living in the United States.

Mary and Daniel Loughran Foundation Graduate Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1976 by the Mary and Daniel Loughran Foundation. The income earned by this fund supports scholarships for graduate students in the School of Business, or School of Law, or Medical School, who are residents of the Washington Metropolitan area.

Mary and Warren Vincent Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1998 by Mary A. and Warren H. Vincent. Income earned from the fund supports scholarship awards in the School of Business. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic promise with due consideration to financial needs.

Memishian Student Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1998 by Stephen and Carol Memishian. This fund provides annual income to support partial tuition assistance for undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need who are enrolled in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, or the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University.

Mintz Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1992 by Mr. Arthur S. Mintz, BA ’66, and Mrs. Judith Mintz, BA ’68.

The income earned by this fund provides scholarships for full-time students enrolled in the university’s School of Business. All other things being equal, preference is given to students from the greater New York City area.

Recipients will be eligible to continue their awards for up to three years, provided they continue to have financial needs and maintain a B average.

Oliver T. Carr Jr. Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1986 by Oliver T. Carr, Jr. Honorary Doctor of Public Service, 1998. The income earned by this fund supports financial awards to students in the School of Business who are studying in the field of urban and regional development. These awards will be known as “The Oliver T. Carr, Jr. Scholarships in Urban and Regional Development” and may be applied toward the student’s tuition or other educational costs.

Philip P. Friedlander Jr. Scholarship in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Studies

This endowment fund was established in 1997 by the National Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association in honor of Philip P. Friedlander, Jr., BA ‘51. The purpose of the fund will be to provide annual income toward tuition grants for students enrolled in the George Washington University School of Business who focus on concentrations in entrepreneurship and small business studies or a related area. Furthermore, it shall be the primary attempt of the School of Business to award the Friedlander Scholarship annually to a student who will serve as a student project manager within the Center for the Advancement of Small Business.

Polden Family Scholarship

This fund was established in 2010 by Donald J. Polden, Esq., BBA ’68. This fund will provide a scholarship for a student enrolled in the full-time undergraduate program at the School of Business.

R. John and Carolyn Dunnagan Fletcher Fund

This scholarship was created by R. John Fletcher, BBA ’68, and Carolynn Dunnagan Fletcher, BA ’70. This fund will provide for undergraduate scholarships at the School of Business, with a preference for students with disabilities.

Sergius Gambal Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1988 by Sergius Gambal, BA ‘52. The income earned by this fund provides financial assistance to undergraduate students from the Washington Metropolitan area who are economically disadvantaged and thereby increases their opportunities for education and career advancement. Recipients must be full-time students enrolled in the School of Business.

Thaddeus A. and Mary Jean Lindner Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1988 by the Washington Gas Light Company. The income earned by this fund provides scholarship awards to graduate students in the School of Business.

William Charles Keller Scholarship and Loan Fund

This endowment was established in 2005 by William C. Keller, BA, ‘49, and Dorothy D. Keller. The income earned by this fund provides scholarships and loans for deserving undergraduate students in the School of Business.

Lt. Colonel Norman W. Flinn, Jr. USMC (Ret.) Memorial Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 2014 by Ruth E. Beardsley Parker in memory of her cousin, Lt. Colonel Norman W. Flinn Jr., MBA ‘64. This fund provides scholarship support for veterans of the United States armed forces who attended GW School of Business at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

This endowment fund was established in 1985 by Thaddeus A. Lindner, BA ‘51, and Mary Jean Lindner.

The income earned by this fund supports scholarships to undergraduate students in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business.

Recipients must be full-time undergraduate students.

Awards may be made to students in any class, including incoming freshmen. Recipients may receive awards for second and subsequent years, provided they meet a defined level of academic achievement. This level is to be established by the university and made known to the recipient. In selecting recipients, consideration may be given to both financial need and merit. Merit may include past academic performance, but the donors desire that consideration also be given to evidence of motivation.

John Henry Cowles Prize Fund for the School of Business

This endowment fund was established in 1988

by T. J. Owen as a tribute to his father, Thornton Washington Owen. Income earned by this fund supports scholarship awards to full-time undergraduate students in the School of Business who have selected International Business as their field of instruction.

Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic promise with due consideration to financial need.

Tucker Scholarship Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1992 by Avram S. Tucker, GWSB ‘77. The income earned by this fund provides scholarship support for full-time students enrolled in the School of Business.

Charles and Florence Diehl Student Prize Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1994 by Charles E. Diehl in memory of Florence Diehl. Income earned by this fund supports an annual award to a senior undergraduate or graduate student in finance.

Elizabeth B. Adams Student Prize Fund

This endowment fund was established in 1986 by Mrs. Madeleine E. Williams in memory of her daughter, Dr. Elizabeth B. Adams. The income earned by this fund supports an annual prize in the Department of Management Science within the School of Business, and advances the university by enabling it to recognize particular achievement by graduates in Information Systems Management.

This endowment fund was established in 1943

by John Henry Cowles. In 1985 the president approved a change in the criteria for awarding the Cowles Prize that would consider overall achievement rather than academic average alone and the prize would be available to graduate as well as undergraduate students.
