As the Milanese Couriers, ancestors of the company's current owners connect two major trading centers: Milan and Lindau.
1788
The service safely ferries Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Germany's national poet, from Italy to Austria.
1823
The company is registered under the name Gebrüder Weiss GmbH. Its headquarters are located in Fussach, where it operates its firstever logistics terminal ("trading hub").
1877
The company Ditta Fratelli Weiss opens its doors in Venice. Branches spring up in Genoa, Trieste & Switzerland. When the Austro-Hungarian Empire crumbles, GW loses all its locations south of the Alps.
2010
At the start of the year, GW has 4,350 employees at 140 locations. One year later, turnover tops the one-billion-euro mark.
2013
Official opening of our logistics terminal in Georgia. Additional key locations follow along the Silk Road in Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Uzbekistan.
2015
In Austria, GW launches a new product for end customers: Home Delivery. During the next few years, it expands into the CEE region.
2017
Gebrüder Weiss extends its network by entering the U.S., Singapore and South China markets.
1989
Following the fall of the Iron Curtain, the company begins to expand in Eastern Europe and Asia.
2020
The new customer portal myGW leads the company's digital offensive. Activities commence in the South Korean, Australian and New Zealand markets.
2021
The company takes a further stride towards climate neutrality with the debut of its first hydrogen truck. Operations begin in Poland and Malaysia.
