FIVE TIPS TO HELP YOU ON THE ROAD TO YOUR NEW HOME (NAPSI)—Whenever you rent a truck to move yourself from one home to another, keeping these five facts in mind can help you and your furniture all arrive in good order and good time.

1. Let time be on your side. When planning your trip, take into account the time of day you intend to travel and likely traffic patterns. Always leave lots of extra time and be aware of possible bottlenecks along the way.

4. Know what you’re driving. Make sure you can find and understand the use of all the truck’s switches and gauges. Adjust the seat and side mirrors so they match your height and comfort zone. Also, remember, trucks are taller, wider and may weigh up to 10 times more than the average car, explain the experts on truck rental at Penske, so you have to be extra vigilant.

5. Be sure to insure. Most insurance and credit card companies won’t cover truck rentals under existing policies. If your insurance company is among them, consider signing up for additional coverage options to protect yourself and your belongings. DID YOU KNOW? Thought they might be most often associated with dogs, ticks can affect cats as well. According to Blue Cross for Pets, cats are most likely to encounter ticks if they live near areas with lots of deer and sheep or in regions where other wildlife, such as hedgehogs and rabbits, are present.

While ticks are active throughout the year, cats are most likely to encounter them between spring and autumn. That’s due in part to the climate during these seasons, which tends to be warmer and therefore more inviting to cats, compelling them to spend more time outdoors than they do in winter.

Ticks, which are egg-shaped, are big enough to spot, so cat owners should conduct a careful examination of their cats’ fur each time they come into the house after spending time in the yard. Blue Cross for Pets notes that ticks feel like small bumps on a cat’s skin. Ticks are most likely to attach themselves to particular areas of a cat’s body. These areas include the head, neck, ears, and feet. Routine brushing, especially whenever cats come inside after time spent outdoors, can help cat owners spot and remove ticks from their cats. It’s important to recognize that indoor cats are not invulnerable to ticks, as other pets and humans can track ticks indoors. Periodic inspections and brushing of indoor cats’ can protect them from ticks and the diseases ticks carry.

STAY SAFE WHEN SELLING YOUR CAR Millions of people across the globe sell their used vehicles each year, and many of those sales go smoothly. But selling to strangers carries some risk, and sellers must consider their safety when putting their vehicles up for sale.

Arrange to meet prospective buyers in public. While it can be inconvenient to drive to a public place each time a prospective buyer expresses interest in your vehicle, sacrificing convenience for security is worth the extra effort. Many people would not invite strangers to their homes under typical circumstances, so it makes no sense to do so when selling a vehicle. If possible, invite buyers to meet you in the parking lot of your office. Or if the car you’re selling is not the car you drive to work each day, then arrange to meet with buyers in a mall or grocery store parking lot.

Meet buyers with a buddy in tow. There’s safety in numbers, so bring a friend or family member along when meeting prospective buyers. Many buyers won’t pose a threat to sellers, but some may be criminals looking to steal a vehicle or cause harm to sellers who are complete strangers.

Criminals are less likely to attack or take advantage of two or more people than one person. And should anything go wrong with a sale, having a witness around to back up your version of sale terms cannot hurt.

Let prospective buyers know you want to see some identification. When prospective buyers respond to your ad, let them know you will want to see some valid photo identification before you allow them to take the car for a test drive. Letting prospective buyers know this in advance of meeting them can prevent an awkward, potentially confrontational situation when you meet in person.

Don’t be afraid to turn away buyers who seem suspicious. While your goal might be to sell your vehicle as quickly as possible, don’t hesitate to turn away prospective buyers who make you feel uneasy. If they insist on seeing the vehicle, hang up the phone after informing them you intend to contact the authorities.

For the Lemon Verbena Pesto, combine the lemon verbena, garlic, cheese, and nuts in a food processor and pulse to puree.

Slowly add the olive oil with the processor running until the mixture thickens and emulsifies, about 1 minute. Season to taste with salt and pepper. The pesto will keep in the refrigerator for 7 to 10 days, or it may be frozen for up to 3 months.

Place the grill wok or basket directly over the fire and stir-grill, tossing the beans with wooden paddles or grill spatulas until crisp-tender, about 5 to 8 minutes.

Transfer the grilled beans to a large bowl and toss with about 1/4 cup of the Lemon Verbena Pesto or to taste.

SENIOR NEWS By Matilda Charles What Lured Us Back to the Senior Center?

The too-young staffers at the senior center finally figured out that we’re not coming back until COVID is gone. And it’s not gone. In some areas it’s easing up a bit, but here it’s still going strong. We’re not willing to risk contagion by dashing in the door of the senior center and pretending things are back to normal.

At least once a week the center sends out emails and gets few replies in response. Come to the Ladies Lunch served indoors?

No thanks. Experiment with still life photography in the meeting room, with vases, statuettes and fruit provided? No. We held out, refusing as a group to be party to any potential COVID-spreading indoor activity. Finally, the staff got it.

They went with videos. The art classes will be online. The book club will have an online discussion, with a link to how to log in to the meeting. And the exercise classes will be posted online so everyone can stretch and work out at home.

But it was the offer of free haircuts that broke our resolve. Some of us haven’t been in a salon for two years.

The rules were specific. Stay in our car until we were handed an at-home COVID test, which we would take in the car. If it proved to be negative, we could proceed to the next step (one person at a time), which was to sit on a chair in the hall inside the right-side door of the center and wait for our turn. When the person ahead of us was finished (down the hall in the kitchen), she would be escorted out the left-side door to the parking lot.

It was glorious.

We each came out of the left-side door with a spring in our step, freshly relieved of two years of unruly hair.

Staff should have thought of this before.

Many people may be tempted to discard rusty tools that have gone unused and sat in a garage or shed for a significant period of time. But tools encrusted with rust do not need to be relegated to the trash bin, nor do gardeners have to toil for hours scraping and sanding off the rust. There’s a much easier way to restore rusty tools that relies on a common household ingredient: vinegar.

Pour vinegar into a deep enough vessel to submerge the metal part of the tool. Soak the tool overnight.

The next day, use a scouring pad to rub off the rust. If the tool is too big to fit into a can or bucket, simply wrap it with a vinegarsoaked rag and cover the whole tool with a tightly secured plastic bag. Follow the same procedure the next day. After all the rust is gone, rinse the tool in cool water and dry thoroughly. Then return it to regular usage.

The song everyone harmonizes to is among the most widely recognized and well-loved tunes in the world. The “birthday song,” also known as “Happy Birthday to You,” is in the public domain in the United States and the European Union. The song originally was penned as a classroom greeting song titled “Good Morning to All,” written by sisters Mildred J. Hill and Patty Smith Hill.

Both were educators and developed unique teaching strategies to assist students.

The song was composed by Mildred and the lyrics were written by Patty to be used in kindergarten classrooms.

It is unclear who changed the lyrics and turned the song into a birthday ditty, as none of the earliest references to the song included credits or copyright notices.

Two tales circulate regarding the eventual copyright of the song. One has The Summy Company registering a copyright in 1935, crediting authors Preston Ware Orem and Mrs. R. R. Forman. The other says Jessica Hill, sister to Mildred and Patty, who was working with publisher Clayton F. Summy Company, copyrighted and published “Happy Birthday to You” in 1935. Eventually Warner Chappell bought the company that was originally The Summy Company, and argued the birthday song was under copyright until 2030, making performances of the song illegal without paying royalties. However, a federal judge ruled in 2015 that Warner Chappell’s claim to a copyright on the song was not valid. The judge ruled its registration only covered a specific piano version, not the melody and lyrics. Therefore, “Happy Birthday to You” can be sung both privately and publicly without being subject to royalties or other restrictions.

MEN CAN GET MANICURES FOR THEIR WEDDING DAYS, TOO A variety of wedding day cosmetic preparations are geared toward the brideto-be. Gentlemen generally limit their wedding pampering to a haircut and possibly a self-tanning product to have a golden glow in their wedding photos.

As social norms continue to relax and guys grow more comfortable and confident taking care of their skin, hair and bodies, the list of services men undergo in advance of special occasions may widen. One service that many men have already embraced is the manicure.

Manicures neaten the fingernails and treat the skin and cuticles of the fingers and can be just as beneficial for men as women. In fact, male-geared hand and foot grooming have already sprouted a niche market, including the Hammer & Nails Grooming for Guys franchise that was featured on the popular show “Shark Tank.”

Nail technicians can help guys achieve a clean look and alert men to possible underlying health issues present on their hands and feet. According to Dr. David E. Bank, a clinical professor of dermatology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, technicians are trained to recognize possible fungus and other infections within the nails.

Depending on his profession, a man’s hands may be on display and the appearance of those hands can help close deals or present a more professional look. Manicures can help men achieve that. They’re also ideal for special occasions like weddings, when guys want to be groomed to perfection. GQ magazine advises that the occasional professional manicure can offer nice, even nails without out-of-control cuticles - no polish or gel tips necessary.

First-timers may be hesitant to give manicures a try. While salon services can differ, here’s what a typical manicure will entail.

• Nails are cut and filed.

• Hands will be soaked in warm water and/or oil to soften skin and cuticles.

• Cuticles are pushed back or trimmed.

• Moisturizer may be applied, and hands are given a brief massage.

• Clear polish can be used if desired. However, a thorough buffing also can create a healthy shine to the nail.

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: When I first adopted my Collie mix “Sara,” I went to the dog park near my apartment every morning. I thought it would be a great place for a year-old puppy to socialize with other dogs and humans. A year later, I no longer take her to the dog park if there are any other dogs there -- which means taking pre-dawn walks or bypassing the park entirely.

I quickly learned that while many dog owners are responsible people who train and socialize their dogs, others don’t train them at all, or train them inadequately.

On Sara’s first day, a huge dog ran up, snarling and barking at both of us. The dog’s owner just sat on a bench, waving and yelling, “He’s friendly,” while Sara cowered behind my legs. A few days later, that same dog got in a vicious fight with two other dogs.

Because we continued to have negative experiences with other dogs (and their owners), making it impossible to train and socialize Sara, I’ve stopped going there.

I don’t think dog parks are a great idea anymore, even though I live in an urban area and green spaces are important for dogs. What’s your take? -- Hannah J. in Boston

DEAR HANNAH: I’m really sorry that happened to Sara and you, and you’re doing the right thing by taking her at uncrowded times. Overcrowded parks, resource-guarding and aggressively playful dogs can make it a negative experience.

Dog parks are a community resource, and it’s important for dog owners to work together to make the park work. Find out if there’s a volunteer committee for your particular park. If not, and you want to keep using the dog park, consider forming a group to address behavior and other issues.

Inflammation can affect anyone, and those who have battled it likely have nothing positive to say. But while few people may associate inflammation with something good, inflammation is actually a process by which the body’s white blood cells and the substances those cells produce protect the body from infection at the hands of bacteria, viruses and other foreign organisms.

While inflammation is protective by nature, sometimes an inflammatory response is triggered by mistake.

When that happens, the body’s immune system, which is designed to protect the body, begins to damage its own tissues. DEAR DR. ROACH: I picked up a cough while traveling in Europe more than two years ago. No other symptoms have ever presented. Since that time, I have received every test imaginable, including spirometry, multiple breathing tests, CT scans, X-rays and most recently a bronchoscopy. Nothing was discovered through any of these tests. Other than the cough, I am very healthy. The cough is driving me crazy, however. I have been prescribed every type of medication, and nothing helps. My doctors are at a standstill and have nothing further to offer. I don’t know where to go from here, but I know I can’t live my life with this cough. I avoid a lot of personal interaction because it is so disruptive to constantly be coughing. I would greatly appreciate your help with this, and any advice regarding what steps need to be taken next.

-- P.M. ANSWER: Chronic cough (lasting more than several months) is most frequently a result of acid reflux, asthma or postnasal drip, although there are many more causes, including infection, which would be a concern given that you have a clear idea of when it started.

Despite an extensive evaluation for cough, it is not that uncommon that people are left with no explanation but with a persistent cough. There are other, less-common treatments at this point, some of which your doctors might not have tried.

The first is the medication gabapentin (Neurontin). This is used for a condition called laryngeal neuropathy, and I have had a few spectacular cases where the cough disappears entirely. People have written saying that their doctor prescribed the medication for them after reading it in the column and they also had relief, even after decades of persistent coughing, so I think this condition may be more common than I have ever thought.

A second has been a cough suppressant. I am very cautious about using opiate drugs, and it is certainly not appropriate for some people, but cautious use of tramadol in selected patients has been successful in reducing, but not eliminating, cough.

Just yesterday in the clinic, one of the residents I supervise had a patient with chronic cough who had dramatic improvement through the use of speech therapy. Looking it up today, I find trials showing significant improvement, if modest, with this approach, as well as several ongoing trials.

Given the potential side effects of gabapentin and tramadol, I think I will be making more referrals to my speech and language pathology colleagues, and suggest you speak with your doctors about some of these options. *** Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual questions, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Happy Mother’s Day! 9 Global Traditions Inspire Us as We Celebrate Mom

t’s that time again! Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to make the mothers in your life feel special, loved, and respected—especially our own mothers who loved us first and continue to love us with unwavering faith.

Mother’s Day D is a big event in the United States, but did you know many countries around the world also set aside a special time to celebrate mothers?

We gathered fun and unique Mother’s Day traditions from nine countries around the globe, and we hope you find something new to add to your Mother’s Day celebrations!

France

Mother’s Day, “Fête des Mères,” occurs on the last Sunday of May or the first Sunday of June. Fête des Mères originated during the Napoleonic era during which families with a large number of children were presented with medals as part of an effort to promote large families and curb low birth rates. Some parts of France still honor this tradition and present moms with medals on Mother’s Day, known as Médaille de la Famille. It is customary to make a bouquet cake for mom, followed by a family dinner. Children typically give flowers, jewelry, perfumes, handmade gifts, handwritten poems, and chocolates as presents.

Germany

Mother’s Day, celebrated on the second Sunday of May, is known as Muttertag and was first celebrated in 1922. Here, celebrating mothers extends further than the women of the house; it pays tribute to the mothers of the universe.

Carried out with a high degree of pomp and circumstance, this day sees children give their moms gifts and cards, red carnations celebrating mothers who are alive, and white carnations honoring mothers who have passed away.

Surprises are common, and travel tickets are a traditional present. The family also makes a homemade dinner to give mom a break.

Ethiopia

Ethiopia holds its celebration of mothers in the early fall and hosts festivals that honor its religion. Ethiopia holds a festival called “Antrosht” which is dedicated only to moms. Families come together for large meals and celebrations. Daughters bring vegetables and cheese while sons bring meat, prepare meat hash, and stage performances featuring their family heroes.

India

Like Ethiopia, India also holds its celebration of mothers in the early fall and hosts festivals that honor its religion. In India, this celebration lasts for 10 days. Hindus honor Durga, the goddess of mothers, at the Durga Puja festival.

This religious ceremony hosts family reunions centered around the traditional story of how Durga returns to her parents to show her own children off to them. The festivities continue with making food, giving gifts and decorating homes.

Italy

In Italy, mothers are honored on “La Festa della Mamma,” observed the second Sunday of May. The mother is regarded as the most important person in the family, and children must call if they cannot come home that day.

While she is honored year-round, on this day, she is pampered from dawn to dusk. Small presents, roses, and handwritten poetry are popular gifts, while cards are not commonly given. Lunch is eaten out to give moms a break, and

at the end of the day, mothers receive a heart-shaped cake made for them by their children.

Japan

Japan’s customs for Mother’s Day are entirely different. Here, the holiday was revived after World War II and was used to console mothers who had lost children during the war. Today, Mother’s Day is observed on the second Sunday of May with red or pink carnations as well as help with chores and cooking. Japanese families make traditional Tamagoyaki or Chawanmushi dishes, while children make handmade gifts or portraits for their mothers.

Mexico

In Mexico, Mother’s Day—“La Dia de la Madre”—is celebrated on May 10th.

Each year, women are celebrated with mariachi serenades, special mass services, and children’s performances. They are also treated out to lunches and dinners. No matter what day May 10th falls on, Mexican families always make time to celebrate their mothers.

Peru

One of Peru’s most important events, Mother’s Day, is celebrated for an entire week with much anticipation leading up to the second Sunday of May. This celebration honors not only mothers, but all the women in the home. Families organize lunches, dinners, parties and trips throughout the week, and children prepare events and festivities. Mothers are given the opportunity to visit exhibits, museums, and festivals for free. They are also read poetry and stories, given gifts, flowers, and treats, served dinner, and entertained by their children. Peruvian families also visit cemeteries to honor their dearly departed mothers and grandmothers, bringing flowers, balloons, and other salutations for the graves. No mother is forgotten in this showing of appreciation for a mother’s love and sacrifice.

United Kingdom

British families hold Mother’s Day, referred to as Mothering Sunday, on the 4th Sunday of Lent. Dating back to the 1600s, England was the first country in the world to create a holiday specifically for celebrating mothers. Shifting away from its historic roots as a day of showing respect to one’s “mother church,” Mothering Sunday increasingly centered around celebrating moms across Britain. Flowers are the most popular gifts, and the most common types of flowers children give their mothers are roses, carnations, and chrysanthemums. It is also traditional to give mum a rich almond cake called ‘Mothering Cake’ or ‘Simnel Cake.’

Vincent J. Orologio, Sr. April 20, 2022 Avon - April 20, 2022 at age 88. Vince is survived by his children, Cindy (Norm) Carney, Vincent (Jill) Orologio Jr., Cathy (Joe) VanRemmen; daughter-in-law, Loretta Orologio; step-sons, John and Scott (Jill) Spezzano. 15 Beloved grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Biaggio (Barb) Orologio; sisters, Angelina (Leo) Karr, Rose Marie (Felix) Natoli and many adored nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life and wife, Sandra Orologio; son, Jack Orologio; brother, Giachinno Orologio. Vince served active duty with the USAF during the Korean War. He then enthusiastically began his teaching career where he taught Social Studies for 30 years at York CSD. He was a member of the Teacher’s Association for the Local and National Chapters and a member of the America Legion in Arkport, NY. Vince was a Buffalo Bills enthusiast, he enjoyed his vegetable garden which became a great passion of his and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining family and friends at his home, often referred to as “Sandi Land” where all were welcome at any time! Vince liked to consider himself the King of the Grill! Most of all Vince was a proud family man, true gentleman and loyal friend to many.

His funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Agnes Church, Avon. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fremont, NY with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Livonia, NY: Roma (Colburn) Emery, a true one-of-a-kind and pillar of her community, passed peacefully on April 26, 2022. Born to Charles and Lela Colburn on June 27, 1934, she is predeceased by her loving husband, Richard, with whom she shared a wonderful life. Roma impacted countless lives throughout her career as a teacher and was admired for her commitment to the community. She was a great teacher, mentor, and friend, and the greatest mom, grandma, and Gigi.

She loved to travel, play cards and other games, and attend movies and Broadway musicals. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Roma is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Emery, Michele ( John) Coakley and Pamela Noveck; grandchildren, Amanda (Tim) Ulm, Ashley Coakley, Andrea (Michael) Golder, Tess, Alexis, and Eric Noveck; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Alexandra, and Liana Ulm, and Michael Golder III; sisters-in-law, Ruth Sidorowicz and Sandi Emery; numerous nieces and nephews, and friends galore.

Sylvester F. Rauber Jr. April 26, 2022 Wayland - Sylvester F. Rauber Jr., 70 years of age, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 26, 2022 at his home in Wayland.

Sylvester was born June 1, 1951 in Wayland, the son of Sylvester F. Sr. and Lunette (Swann) Rauber. He grew up in, and remained a life resident of, the Wayland area. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a volunteer firefighter for the Perkinsville Fire Department. He was an active member with the Wayland American Legion Post #402.

Sylvester and Catherine “Katie” Calhoun were married August 26, 1978 in Naples and celebrated over 43 years of marriage together.

Throughout the years, Sylvester was employed at Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation and at Groveland State Correctional Facility, retiring from there after 20 years. Sylvester was a hard worker and had a second job at Noyes Memorial Hospital for many years, often leaving one to go to the other.

Sylvester enjoyed working on cars, camping, attending Buffalo Bills games and mostly spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved to travel as he and Katie enjoyed trips to Maui and Washington. He was a special man, loved by many and a friend to anyone he met.

Sylvester was predeceased by his parents, Sylvester Sr. and Lunette Rauber; his brother, Donald Rauber and sister, Theresa Loveland.

He is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Katie Rauber of Wayland; his children, Cynthia (Chuck) Brassell of CO, Donald (Rachel) Rauber of Honeoye Falls and Caitlin (Nicholas) Clawson of WA; his grandchildren Jessica, Lillianna, Damian and Norah; his brother, Francis (Anneliese) Rauber of NM, his sister, Jean Perrin of Victor; his sister-in-law, Pat Calhoun of Penn Yan; his brother-in-law, Vane Calhoun of Naples; along with nieces and nephews.

Sylvester’s family and friends called Friday, April 29, 2022 from 4-7 pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A graveside service took place Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 1pm at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland.

He was born second eldest to Anna and Albert Yorks on what is still known as the Yorks Farm. He attended a one-room schoolhouse on the corner of Dalton and Heath Markham Rd. that no longer exists. He placed a wooden plaque there so we would not forget its existence. He graduated from Lima High School and continued to work his father’s farm from whom he and his brother Ronnie purchased upon his retirement. A farmer is what he was, but he had a full life. He married and had children but was much much more. He loved to hunt and was a longtime member of the Lima Gun Club as well as serving as its President.

He was a member of the Upstate Milk Co-op and a Livingston County Planning Board Member. He drove truck for Valley Sand & Gravel which he loved. He was an avid euchre and Gin-Rummy player and loved his card playing family. He was also a proud member of the Smitty’s crew. His golden years were all about family and he would proudly show you his pictures of his grandkids and great-grandkids of whom he was so proud and loved fiercely. He loved his family and friends, and he was loved by all those he touched.

A celebration of life will be held in early August; a save the date will be sent out. Bob loved the farm and land and that is why we picked Future Farmers of America Local NY Chapter. Robin Reese (Kluth, Meritt, Lott) March 30, 2022 Robin Kluth Meritt Lott Reese ( July 29, 1954 - March 30, 2022) lived a beautiful life full of strength, grace, and love. Robin was a decisive woman with exquisite taste, magic in her soul, and had no reserve for telling you exactly what she thought.

Her battle with cancer may be unknown to many, as Robin chose to create a world where negativity simply could not exist. She chose to fill every day of her life to the brim with activity, laughter, and happiness.

Complaining just did not fit into her busy schedule.

Robin loved gardening, sewing, cheese, Anne of Green Gables, REAL marmalade, Downton Abbey, rare steak, John Denver, knitting, family history, vintage lace, making cookies, a good fish fry, a better story, Christmas, her poodles, pointing out the inaccuracies of the historic costumes on any HBO series, her glass of Beaujolais, yellow sheets, Masterpiece Theatre, never sitting still, her mother, Alyson, Practical Magic, making lists, and forever trying to make the world more beautiful and full of light.

She sadly passed away at the end of March surrounded by those who deeply loved her.

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Robin is scheduled for 2 PM on Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at Zion Episcopal Church in Avon, NY. Robin, of course, left explicit instructions and asked everyone to wear something BLUE, her favorite color.

We are now in the third week, and our furry friend is improving every day, taking two steps on April 22nd. Recycling It's pretty sad when you call [local town] Code Enforcement, [local town] Hall, and [others] to find a solution to businesses not recycling, and you pretty much get an answer of "Oh well." No one seems to know or care. So as all these cans, glass, and junk get thrown onto the ground, remember, you have children and grandchildren who have to live on this dirty earth. Why can't people just do the right thing?

Am I the only one who’s sick of businesses, companies, services, and retailers overusing the excuse of COVID? Most of these are still trying to increase profits even though supply, laborers, and inflation are affecting all of us. Some still allow personnel to work from home which leaves fewer people to actually provide services to customers. Eliminate the government “freebies” to force people to actually work for their money. Stop giving free money to renters and get them back to work. Quit stealing from the taxpayers and get us back to where we were. The COVID excuse being made is just that: an excuse!

Not a Drag Strip!

Moving to this beautiful town over 10 years ago was the best decision my family could have made. It’s such a beautiful town with friendly neighbors. However, we couldn’t be more upset with the way most of the younger generations use [local street] in [local town] as a “drag strip." Living on this street is absolutely beautiful, and the 30 miles a hour limit should be enforced. There are many that hit the stop sign on center and then use the straight away as if it’s 390 in a 65mph zone. It’s 30mph or slower. Please slow down. There are autistic children that live in this area as well as family pets. Let’s be safe and slow down. Tomorrows are never guaranteed. We would hate to see something happen to children, walkers, runners, family pets, etc. Slow it down, please!
