In early 2021, Adam Brenner was faced with the difficult decision to close his business due to the COVID19 pandemic, a reality that affected many business owners throughout the country. Brenner began to explore new potential opportunities, and when New York State chose to open adult cannabis use, Brenner had an epiphany. In September 2021, he opened American Wayside, an arts consignment store that focuses on local artists’ work and education surrounding CBD wellness.

Located in the Hamlet of Mumford in an old 1800s general storefront, American Wayside offers a safe and welcoming space for artists to share their work. Brenner says, “My goal is to help independent artists and entrepreneurs thrive within the local community.”

American Wayside also provides education surrounding cannabis use. Brenner is a passionate advocate for the many positive benefits cannabis can offer. In particular, he is a large proponent of CBD use for anxiety management, as he himself has relied on its healing properties for many years.

As a Navy Veteran, Brenner is especially invested in supporting fellow shipmates and service members experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Facing such difficult struggles, Brenner shares that leaning toward cannabis can be a very helpful, natural option to find relief.

In less than two years, Brenner and American Wayside have helped countless people. “I really enjoy helping people find relief when they are struggling,” Brenner says. He is dedicated to working with each customer to best support their unique needs and concerns.
