Morgan’s Crossing
Celebrating Updated Facilities & Services
Discover the revamped Morgan’s Crossing in Scottsville, a family-run golf course owned by Scottsville natives, Tom and Todd Rath. Formerly Chili Country Club, this venture pays homage to Revolutionary War Captain Joseph Morgan, Chili’s first settler in 1792 who raised the area’s first grain and the first fruit trees and orchard.
With freshly paved roads, sealed parking lots, and a renovated pro shop and event facilities, the 18-hole par 72 Morgan’s Crossing offers an exceptional golfing experience for all. The state-of-the-art pro shop, Tom Rath’s Rock Bottom Golf flagship store, provides golfers with top brands and an extensive selection at unbeatable prices. From the latest releases to pre-owned deals, they have everything you need for a great game. For players seeking new clubs, experience the personalized fitting process in their state-of-the art indoor fitting center equipped with the Foresight GC Launch Monitor or on the full-length range.
The Rath brothers take pride in owning the course where they learned to play. Their commitment to maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere shines in every aspect of Morgan’s Crossing. Morgan’s Crossing provides lessons, clinics, demo days, tournaments, and leagues, catering to players’ evolving needs. New golf carts and renovated cart paths enhance the golfing experience.
Morgan’s Crossing even includes an on-course bar/ grill, The Checkered Tavern, whose namesake comes from Benjamin Sheldon, founder of the original Checkered Tavern in the 1800s frequented by patrons from all walks of life, including those with potentially “checkered” pasts. It is now owned and operated by another local business, Blue Toad Hard Cider, run daily by Todd and his business partner, Mark Hallock.
The Rath brothers aspire to continue serving the community, enhancing the property, and promoting camaraderie and family fun. Todd envisions an executive three-par course for youth and possibly a putt-putt course.
Pairing the golf expertise of RockBottomGolf.com with the hospitality experience from Blue Toad Hard Cider creates an amazing combination for great things to come at Morgan’s Crossing! With its rich history, commitment to the golfing community, and strong, welcoming management team, Morgan’s Crossing promises an exciting and rewarding experience for all golfers. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a beginner, come and explore the new and improved facilities at Morgan’s Crossing, where golf and community intertwine.
