TOUCH SCREEN MONITORS – THE LATEST TYPES OF TECHNOLOGIES COMING UP IN THE MARKET The technology of touch powered computing devices is developing day by day, with new innovations hitting the scene, taking user experience and performance standards to new heights. There was once a time when only three types of touch screen panels used to exist out there – capacitative, resistive and surface acoustic wave. These basic systems were all that made up our modern touch screen monitors. But we have moved way ahead of that kerb in the last few years. Here are three more types of panels that lyou can now find being used in your digital devices. Optical imaging Large touch screen monitors make extensive use of this technology these days. Image sensors around the screen detect touching objects and then calculate the position based on readings from multiple sensors. Infrared The idea here is simple. A frame around the screen contains LEDs with light receptors opposite, with the LEDs being pulsed sequentially to create a scanning grid of infrared light beams. When the user touches the screen, one or more of these beams is obstructed, allowing the system to register the location of the input. This technology easily lends itself to use by fingers, gloved hands and even styluses. Dispersive signals Here, the touch panel contains many sensors that detect piezoelectricity in the glass panel created from a touch input. The system runs on many complex algorithms to ensure that accurate detection of input is possible. Pressure happens to be the major source of detection here which means these screens can be operated with fingers, gloved hands and styluses.
