Director of the Department of Energy, Dr. Mark Bynoe, on Thursday encouraged about 300 persons assembled in the auditorium of the Essequibo Technical Institute (ETI), Anna Regina, Pomeroon-Supenaam (Region Two) for an Interactive Session on Oil and Gas to position themselves now to benefit from the multiplier effects of the emerging petroleum sector.
Dr. Bynoe noted that the early arrival of Guyana’s Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, the Liza Destiny, has ramped up preparations for first oil 2020 and persons must plan, prioritise, do their research, to become certified and make the necessary sacrifices so that they can capitalise on the opportunities in the sector. Dr. Bynoe was, at the time, speaking to
students of seven secondary schools, students of the ETI, Director of Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, regional officials, and stakeholders from the Ministry of Education, Guyana Revenue Authority, Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission, Guyana Defence Force, Guyana Police Force ‘G’ Division and the Essequibo Chamber of Commerce, among others.
