How To Wear Colored Tights: Sexy Hosiery Trend Alert: Colored Tights Are Back! There's nothing hotter than embracing a super daring trend such as colored tights. It is an ingenious way to "cheaply" move your spring/summer wardrobe into fall and winter. I mean, who doesn't get nostalgic for their satin dresses once it hits October? With opaque and even sheer tights, we now can! We can bring back our summer frocks in the dead of winter without a blink of the fashion police eye. Colored tights may sound scary, but after this "fashion tutorial" you'll be a bonafide expert in all matters colored tights. Bring on the brights! Tip 1. Go With The Flow If your dress is a dark grey, there's nothing wrong with paring that with grey tights. It's all in the accessories from that point on. Many fashionistas out there insist that color-coordinating dress to tights is a no-no; however, I know better. Keeping with the same color scheme is brilliant for blending a summer dress into fall. It also allows you to bring out some "intense" accessories. By this I mean a hot pink bag, dark green nails (short, please), or even a major hat. Another way to go about this is to choose tights that are in the same color-family. (observe right) Yes, one is a very soft lilac purple whereas the other is a saturated plum. One thing to note when doing same-colored tights, is to keep the tights somewhat sheer or half opaque. It can be jarring when the tights are just as "thick" as the dress palette. Tip 2. White Out White tights are one of my favorite colored tights. They can look absolutely daring but still super classy. Personally, I feel that white tights look best with neutral toned colors. Think: navy jackets, little black dresses and structured handbags. For those special nights I opt for color with white, I choose pastel or dark colors. I never go bright because a bright dress with stark white tights is a nightmare to coordinate and pull off. (Obviously much less difficult for models who are 6 feet tall!) When thinking white, think opaque. There's nothing worse than seeing flesh colored skin matched with sheer white tights. It's honestly a bad look! Tip 3. Brights, Camera, Action! Bright tights are a MUST for any ultra-chic fashionista. Make your brights stand out by pairing them with black. Since your bright tights are just one singular color, its possible to wear them with outfits that have patterns on them. Just be sure that the patterns are somewhat muted! When wearing bright tights with a bright outfit, be sure the colors are exactly matched. If not, you could look a bit odd. Tip 4. Go Short: Mini Mini!
